Chris Wiser (video, Oct 29, 2024) argues that in 2024 MSPs' primary responsibility is not only to make clients secure but to ensure clients are insurable and recoverable after breaches so insurance will pay for rebuilding. He emphasizes controlling/limiting blast radius and cites a previous fireside chat with Chris Krebs asserting "everybody's getting hacked."

Who pays for the rebuild? Insurance. But you have to be what first? Insurable. So come all the way back around now and I want this is where your brain stuff has to work. Come all the way back around now to. Our job in 2024 isn't to make sure our clients are secure. That's great. It's awesome. Huge benefit, huge add on. But what's our job now? It's to make sure they're insurable and that you can recover them without a massive amount of undertaking. We had Chris Krebs on our stage back in Charlotte a couple years ago, and he said, sitting here on the stage with me in his fireside chat, everybody's getting hacked. We have to be in a place where we can control, recover, limit the blast radius and get insurance to pay the bill.
