Chris Wiser argues hacking is inevitable and organizations need to plan for it. Leaders should adopt full-stack cybersecurity, communicate risk clearly, prepare operationally for breach scenarios, and align with insurer requirements so claims get paid. Threats now include malware embedded in devices you buy.
We want them to understand they're going to get hacked. What's your plan? Because I'm going to tell you right now, I know I'm your IT guy, but I'm not managing all this, and I'm here to tell you that now. I understand this makes you look like you're in a room not doing your job. You have to state this, guys. This is part of why you lead with full cyber security, full stack. Because you say, hey, times have changed. We have to do things differently. We have to do a lot of different things because the threats are evolving. Threats are changing. There's stuff that's out there. We're finding malware inside of devices that you bought for years. We didn't know that. Nobody knew that. We have to do things differently. And you use the excuse of we have to get ready for when we have a bad day because we want insurance to pay the bill. So we got to think about what insurance is going to want when that day happens. That's so we want them to get it. They already know insurance.
