Hey! Good morning. Good morning.
Good morning. Wrong camera. There we go. Good morning. How are you? I hope you're doing good. It's Thursday, which means you're on the latter half of the week. So whatever you're doing right now, working, playing, sleeping, thinking, walking. You're doing it on a Thursday, which means Friday is tomorrow, which means the weekend is here. If you are a veteran, I want to jump on top of the day and say first, Happy Veterans Day. If you have served, um, in the military, we are grateful for your service. So let me say that up top. Y'all, I am jumping on here just because I've been trying to actually all week. You may or may not already know, but I go live every Monday, most Mondays, like maybe I, maybe I hit 95% in the Inner Circle. And then we share the videos, the replay, the nice buttoned-up version on Sunday nights. But I'm here on a Thursday. Why not? Because I wanted to share something with you. Let me take this out of my ear. I wanted to show you something pretty cool. Now, some of you may already know that, um, we released a book this weekend. By we, I mean my dad, Dr. Tony Evans, um, Chrystal Hurst Shire, my sister, Anthony Evans, and Jonathan Evans. My brothers. Okay, but here's what you don't know. Here's what you do not know. You don't know that we signed a bunch of them. You don't know that. Look at that. Look what I have. I have some doggone signed copies. That's what I have. Ba dum bum. So what I wanted to do was just chit-chattery a little bit about, I don't even know what. Um, because aren't those the best conversations anyway, where you just, I was thinking sometimes I work really hard to think about what I can say that's meaningful and deep. And then, um, sometimes the best morning chit-chat is when you're not talking about nothing. Like just whatever you want to talk about. Um, and then I thought, you know, that's dumb for me to do that. And then I realized that when we— you, if you go to work in the morning and you listen to the radio, like the morning shows, and they not talking about nothing, like they have to slip in, you know, some news here and some weather here and some current events. You know, there's somebody somewhere producing some show notes for them. But generally speaking, the morning shows are the best ones when they just make it up. You know what I mean? When they just kind of— so that's what I'm gonna do today. I'm just gonna make it up. So for those of y'all who are just on, bam, I don't have a ton, but I do have a handful. Look at that. So I figured, and I'm going to try something today. That I've not done before. I'm gonna try something. Y'all know I'm a little, I'm a little techie, I'm a geeky girl, so I'm gonna try something today. So let me see if I can do this right quick. Hold on one second, and then I may have to— okay, I'm gonna have to put my ears back in. It's too many things going on. How are you all doing? I'm looking at the comment— comments. Ooh, now I'm gonna give away a handful to Auntie Betty. Can y'all tell I'm in a slightly silly mood this morning? To Auntie Betty. And then I'm gonna give away some that are just for the Inner Circle. So you girls that are in the Inner Circle, find that yellow dot, make it easy for me to find you. Okay, Christine Call, you said, I knew it. You knew what? What did you know? So this is an important week, okay? When you— this, this is a little education for you. When you pre-order your books, which is too late to pre-order it now, but when you pre-order it or you buy it the first week it communicates a really important message to the publisher that says people are really interested in the book. So let me just tell you up front, if you intended to buy the book and you haven't yet, I mean, I'm gonna give some away, but if you don't win one, buy one, because that says something to the publishers. And when you want— have you ever said, you know, why did this show go off the air that I loved? Or, you know, why did I not get any more of these books? Like, what happened to the series? Or have you ever What happened is people stopped voting with their dollars or with their time and with their eyeballs. So it like literally tells the people who create content, oh, people want that. If you already have one, or even if you're hoping to get one, buy 2 copies and give one to a friend. Just shameless plug. Just, it is what it is. Um, so there you go. My father has written like A million books? I don't even know. It's like 100 and something. It's like something dumb. Like, seriously, it's like, you know, over 100 books for real. So, um, this is just, you know, we're just adding like one little extra one to his stash. So let me see if I can do something fun. Hold on a minute, let me see. Y'all know I'm going to try to do too many things at one time. Let's see what happens if I do this. Oh, okay, let me sit up straight. Um, hold on. Okay, I need to change my camera right here. Maybe not. Oh, it's not going to have my good camera on, but that's okay. Let me see. I'm going to add him to the right. Oh, is it not going to let me do it? Hold on a minute. Okay, let me, let me go back here. Y'all see, I'm trying to do something fancy today, so maybe this won't work. Hold on, let's see.
Okay.
Hi, Anthony. Okay, say something. Make sure I can hear you. Uh, it says you have muted yourself, so somewhere on your end there's a button. I cannot hear you, and I can't— let me see. And I can't unmute you. Let's see, I'm gonna, I'm gonna hang you up. No, it's like you literally, it says you're muted. I'm gonna hang you up and then call me back and see if that works.
Okay.
Okay. So I'm trying to be fancy. Maybe Anthony and I will give away some books today. Whoop whoop! So, um, it's almost Thanksgiving because I want the chat everywhere you are to say something. I need to know what's the one dish, the one that if all you got was that one dish for Thanksgiving, you would be all right. Tell me that while I fool around and get him on. Let's see. Okay, it still says you're muted. Don't see anything. Let's see.
Mm-hmm.
There should be like a button on your end that you press. No, it just says you've muted yourself. Um. I don't know, cuz I can't change it for you. It just says you've muted yourself. Hmm, I don't know. I don't know how to fix it. Nope, I was trying to push buttons. They're talking about Thanksgiving dinner in the chat. Okay, you know what I'm going to do? Hold on a minute. You're on your phone. See Hold on, y'all.
Okay, we're just gonna say that I'm muted on my end, like I'm pushing the mute and unmute button.
I don't know, so we're not gonna worry about it because I just called you from the phone and so now they can hear you. The end. MacGyver.
So I'm just not on the video anymore?
No, I can see you on the video.
Oh, okay.
We can see you and we can hear you. So there you go. MacGyver to the rescue. Okay. So, um, how do you feel? This book was kind of, not kind of, was definitely your brainchild. You were like, let's do it. Let's do it now. Why did you think it was so important for us to do this book? Um, and why now?
Um, I think that it was very important for us to do this book because our mother was worried about the people, worried about people's faith in general, specifically the people who were praying for her. She, she said, um, a few times, what about the people who are praying for me? What if God doesn't heal me? What about their faith? And this book is the message that our mother wanted wanted the general public to hear whether they were praying for her specifically or not. She wanted you to hear a message about holding on to faith when life was breaking your heart. And so I wanted to do it. Well, I wanted to do it now because that's how I am in general. But I also wanted to do it now because corporately and globally, life has broken all of our hearts at some degree right now.
So have you seen— I know you have— some of the comments from people who have already gotten the book? Like, they've already gotten it, they've already read it, finished it, listened to it. And so when you see the comments coming through and that it's resonating with people, how do you feel about— like, you know, it's like the book baby project. It's like, you know, you work on it for months and months and months. And then it's here, and then you actually go, oh, people are actually reading that.
Yeah, it's, it's one of the most encouraging things. And, um, to hear about how you never know with whatever project it is, with me, music all these years, you never know who's going to be impacted, and you just don't know. But now in this digital age where you can— we've been in that age for a while where you can immediately see people's messages, it's really, it's it's really encouraging and it's like, whoa, this is what our mom wanted. This was the point. The whole point was to encourage hearts. Immediately we hearing that, it is a— it's God's mercy and God's grace and him kind of even now, 2 years later, giving me and all of us a— as redemptive as something could be and such a hard a hurtful scenario, it's him still giving us grace and mercy by letting us know that your mom's story is still encouraging hearts. Yeah, that's how I feel.
Well, um, I know that you worked really hard and you're actually frozen right now. Now your video is frozen.
Oh my gosh.
But we can still hear you.
Um, take it off of, uh, I can take it off of the Wi-Fi here. I'm so sorry. This is not working out. That's my fault.
That's okay. But we can still hear you. So how about that? Um, so in terms of like now, like what's, what's next now? Like when you finish, when we finish something like, but you carried a lot of the load, you carried the majority of the load for sure. So what, what's next for you now?
Um, next now. Is trying to figure out with our family if we can schedule anything. It's very hard, y'all, to schedule anything with our family because there's a lot— well, it's more than 5 of us, there's a lot going on. So, um, I want to figure out how to continue this message. I would love to continue this message live. I would love to continue this message via different outlets where the 5 of us are together doing ministry, but we'll have to see how that goes, because getting the 5 of us together is like trying to do a Spice Girls reunion. It's just— there's—
wow, it's like people— Spice Girls reunion.
I have no idea why I was trying to pick a group of 5 people in my head, and that's the first thing. I don't know why I can't think of another group of 5 people, but, uh, it's just— it's a lot. Am I still frozen?
No, you— when— whatever you did, you just disappeared. So you would have to like Do the link again for me to see you.
Okay, hold on. I just, I went back to my phone.
Okay.
I should be back now.
Maybe you're going to come in just a second. It's all right. So I'm looking at the comments. I've seen counselors, LPCs saying that they're going to use it in their practices. Yeah. Tammy said, I'm an LPC and would use it in my work every day. Um, they're grateful for the honest responses. Um, I'm ordering the book whether I win today or not. Um, Teresa said, thank you. These first holidays without my dad are the, are the hardest.
Yes, absolutely.
Deneen said, yay, it's on Audible. It is. So if you don't like to read, And you can listen while you do dishes or drive to work. Totally, it's there.
Yeah.
Uh, Candace said, I'm almost done listening to it and it has been life-changing for me.
Oh, and it's, it's read by all 5 of us, which was hard to get us together for, but we, we did it. Um, so that I listened to it just because hearing our family converse like that was, was just great. And the principles— I still learn from my siblings and our dad. We all learn from our dad a lot, but Hearing the voices tell the story is really great because I'm an Audible guy too.
Yes, 100%. And it's kind of weird, like, if you listen to a book, especially for us, I think, because people know our voices, to listen to a book for a voice you know and it's somebody else's voice would— it's not always— doesn't feel right. So I think it's kind of cool that our— all 5 of us did read, for sure. Okay, so hang on, Anthony. Let me pick somebody to, to win. I'm gonna start y'all with an inner circle member. So I'm just scrolling through when you are showing me your yellow circles. That helps me to know you're here. Let's see here. Now the only thing is I have to be able to see your name name. So some of y'all have like YouTube names and I can't— I don't know what your real name is.
This.
So you're gonna have to help me out with that. So if you're in the inner circle, go on and throw up your circle so I can see you and find you. All right, I think I found somebody, but I'm, you know, I'm gonna double-check it because, you know, hold on a minute, y'all. Let's see. Oh, there she is! Okay, so Tristain— Tristan D, you are the winner of one of the Divine Disruption books. Yay! One of the signed. So what you need to do is email hello@chrystalhurtz.com and we will tell you what we need you to do in order to get it.
Okay.
So Anthony, are you working on another album anytime soon?
I just released a single last week called Promise Keeper, and that's— I'm going to start trying to write an album in January. So it won't be out until the fall probably, but that's the goal. The goal is to have an album out by the fall. And to be touring full— fully again. We'll be touring before that, but to be back out in the fall. So that's the current plan.
Do you feel ready to write, or you're like, no, I need a second?
Uh, I'll be ready. I'll be ready to write after the holidays. When there's too much going on in my head, I don't— I write songs like that aren't good.
You get it done, but it's not— it's not the real deal.
Yeah, it's basic and not, and not great. Yeah, so I want my brain to be a little slower. And then a friend of mine's in town, an artist named Jeremy Camp, and we were talking about writing together. And, and, uh, I want to widen the circle of people who I'm writing with. So he's— we're going to try to do that together.
So talk about that for just a minute. Like, you can write music, so why do you— I mean, for people who wouldn't know, why would— why do you intentionally write with other writers or artists?
Other perspectives, new perspective, wider, wider vantage point, new melodies. Writers can show you a different pathway to the destination that you're going to go to. Like people who, you know, if you're driving through a town and we've all grew up here, there's sometimes streets and little back ways to get to places you didn't know about. And I think, or to get to a the place that you know, but it's a different pathway there. And writers, that, that's what they can do, is show you different pathways, give you different suggestions, and feed off of each other. And that makes it— that's the beauty of this book too, is that us feeding off of each other makes it very, a very unique situation.
Yes, yes, very much so. And I think that's other people hearing all the different perspectives, because we don't— we're from the same family, but we do not process the same for sure. So, okay, let's see here. I'm gonna pick a non-Inner Circle winner real quick. Let's see, Lynette Black. Lynette Black, email hello@chrystalhurtst.com for your signed copy of Divine Disruption. Whoop whoop!
Okay, there's very few signed copies of this book.
There's very few.
Getting all 5 of us in one place to sign a bunch of books is a problem. I'm just letting you know, I'm like saying congratulations for real.
For real. Like, I— we were signing them and I was like, can I have one? Because I was like, there's not that many of them. Oh my goodness. Okay, let me see here. I'm gonna give away a book to Char Fletcher who gave me like— she threw up like 10 yellow circles. I'm gonna— I'm gonna see you, okay? I'm gonna see you.
You.
So email hello@chrystalhurst.com. Um, one of our viewers here, Anthony, said, yes, Anthony, please more music, I love Promise Keepers.
Oh yeah, that's great, that's great. I had a good time making that song, and we are going to be, be making some more very soon with friends of mine out in Los Angeles so that you get that fresh sound.
Um, another person said, Anthony is one of the most amazing illustrators, like illustrations, I've ever heard.
Oh wow, thank you very much. I get it from our dad.
Yep. Oh my goodness, now they're throwing up a million yellow circles. They're like, is that what it takes? Okay, Yelitza. Y-E-L-I-T-Z-A. Yelitza. You are not an Inner Circle person, I don't think, but you just got yourself a signed copy of Divine Disruption.
Congratulations!
Email hello@chrystalevanshurst.com. Whoop whoop! Okay, let me check a couple of other ones now. Anthony?
Yes?
I was at your house last night eating really good food. My question for you is, what part of your body journey are you on right now? I'm serious. Like, you go— like, you go through, you know, I'm working out, I'm killing myself, and then you know what? I want— I love food. Where are we right now? Where are we today?
I'm in between the two. I'm in between the two. I will work out quite a bit, but, uh, there's nothing that's— my life is not one, one thing, one way. If it was that way, then I would be at the gym every day at 8 or whatever, and then But there's so much travel, so much going on— book promos, do this live, and be on this and be on that— that it gets very hard. So I'm kind of— I'm watching it, but not, not hard.
Yeah, well, I wasn't watching it last night. The lobster mac and cheese was amazing. How about that?
I know, it was great, right?
If y'all have never had lobster mac and cheese, find a restaurant, any restaurant any decent restaurant that serves lobster mac and cheese. You're welcome. Okay, um, Shakira is from Belize. You just got yourself a book. There we go. Email hello@chrystalhurst.com. I'm gonna—
Shakira.
Yep, Shakira. And I'm gonna give away 2 more, and then Anthony and I are gonna keep going because we both have crazy days today. But I was like, I want to get on and chat with you all and share, uh, more about the book. Okay, another question, Anthony, real quick. Um, you have also done your own book, like your own only author book. How are the two experiences different, like in terms of how you feel about the work when it's done? Like, how does it—
how does birthing this one differ from birthing the This one's different because it was like, uh, and every time, anytime you do an effort that is different voices, which I don't know, I'm trying to think of another project like this, um, my project got to move at my pace and I just did, you know, it was not— it didn't feel like as much of an accomplishment because I wasn't, you know, bringing together 5 voices and pacing 5 voices. That made this this project feel like you conquered more, you know what I mean? Like you kind of moved up to another level being able to get the family in one place. That was huge. But my own project was great and I was very honored to have the opportunity to do that. But this one is another level because of the 5 of us, because of Mommy telling me she wanted all of us together and all that. That created another level of achievement to me.
Well, y'all, we are here talking about Divine Disruption, which is the book that, if you didn't already know, came out this week. And I have some signed copies, not a lot, but a few.
Yes.
So let me— what? Go ahead.
What can we possibly— because this, this puts work on you, so let me know. The 410 people who are on here right now, could we pick a winner? Can we pick maybe one or two winners and I'll give them one of my signed copies because I don't want to use up all but we're gonna pick them, um, from the reposts. Can we, can we pick a hashtag or tag you or our Sister Circle? And these ladies can post about the book, and then we pick winners from the ones who posted about the book.
Tag me where?
On their post.
Oh, you do want the ones that are watching on Facebook?
Oh, is this on— what is this on?
YouTube and Facebook, not Instagram.
Oh, got it. I didn't know what was wrong. It's my fault. Never mind, let me let you do your stuff.
Okay, so I'm giving away 2 more. I'm giving away 2 more. Uh, Eniola Harrison, who is in the Inner Circle, who's watching from Brussels. That's cool.
Yay, Brussels!
Yep. And then let's see one more. I gotta double check, make sure you're in there. And I'm processing what you just said, Anthony. I'm trying to figure it out. Hold on one sec.
Yeah, it's no big deal.
Let's see, got to check, y'all. Got to double check. Oh, did I spell it right? I don't see that one in there. No. Uh-huh. Okay, let's see. Let me try this one. Okay, Shanika Davidson, you are the next person. Whoop whoop! Awesome. So those are the giveaways for today. So you need to email hello@chrystalevanshurst.com. And between Anthony, myself, Priscilla, Jonathan, there may be a couple of other opportunities for you to grab some signed copies of the book. So just make sure that you're following all of us on social media., probably for sure on Instagram because I know that's probably where we go first, right, Anthony? Like, out of all the places. Yeah, yeah, definitely make sure you're following us all on Instagram and pay attention. One of the things that you can do, if you didn't already know this, if you're on Instagram is you can turn on notifications. So Instagram kind of picks and chooses what they show you, but if you hit the little bell and say anytime they do anything I want to know, then you won't miss it. So take that. So Anthony, thanks for joining me. I know this was a little like, hey Anthony, what are you doing? Jump on with me.
No, it's okay. It's perfect. I'm glad to, and I'm glad to see all these, these ladies and probably some guys that follow and are part of the, the inner circle. Y'all should tell all your friends to be a part of this because Chrystal Hurst is no joke, as you all know. Her wisdom and her knowledge is on some other level. So anyway, thank you.
Juanita said, where can we go to post the reviews of the book? Go to Amazon or Barnes Noble or Mardel's, like wherever you bought it from, or wherever you want to put it.
Um, that would be huge.
Very huge.
I'm gonna— yeah, yeah, I'm trying to figure that out. But if any— if all of y'all could go post reviews, that, that helps get the message out, as you know. So thank you very much for doing that.
Yes, 100%. Um, I do that. I mean, don't you all do that? You go to Amazon, you're trying to figure out if you want to buy something or not, and the first thing you do is, what do the reviews say? Is this any good? So 100%. Um, thank you all so much for being supportive of our family. Um, many of you who have been around for a long time, and then for those of you all who are, um, grabbing the book, reading it, and sharing it, thank you as well. And thanks for jumping on and letting us hang out and just have fun, because it's a good week. It's launch week. And so I want to encourage you again, if you have your copy and if you started reading it and you think, "This is good," well, buy another copy, ship one to a friend, share it, read it through with someone else who maybe, um, has been through a difficult time the last couple of years, and maybe you all can process together. I think one of the powerful things about this book is, yes, we did it together, but honestly, a lot of things in life are really good when you do it with someone else. So Pick up the book, grab one for a friend, and then just know we are really grateful for you. And we were thinking and are thinking about you, um, with this release of the, release of the book. And we want it to be a blessing to you. Any last words, Anthony?
No, I hope everybody has a great day. Well, I said no and then started talking. Yes, I hope everybody has a great day and thank you guys so much for your support. And, uh, yeah, thank you very much. Yay!
All right, Anthony, well, I will see you later. All right, y'all, thanks for joining us. Bye!
