In this live YouTube session Chrystal Evans Hurst returns after a brief broadcast interruption to answer audience questions about daily productivity rhythms, child activity scheduling, and self‑care. She explains a technical glitch (Wi‑Fi and Ethernet conflict) and apologizes for the downtime. The core of the session covers her "Workboxes" system – a visual, modular schedule using drawers or cards to cue children on the next activity, reducing parent‑child negotiations and fostering self‑motivation. Chrystal then revisits her "Slay Your Day" framework, outlining how to establish rhythm, routine, prioritize "pit stops," build activity blocks, identify a top‑three focus list, and reflect on the day. Audience members ask about a Steve Jobs quote (mirroring daily purpose) and candle recommendations for self‑care; Chrystal shares her favorite candle brand and recent Target finds. Throughout, she engages viewers by name (Angela Guerrero, Lori, Cynthia) and encourages interaction, reinforcing a supportive, conversational tone.

I don't know what happened. Let's see. So y'all have to let me know if you're here. I got up and came back and then it said that the broadcast had stopped, but I didn't do anything. So, all right. So if you can hear me right now, give me a thumbs up. Thumbs up. Thumbs up if you can hear me. And it looks like I'm going live again. We're back. Okay. I don't know what happened. I got up to wake up my kids. I left it running or to make sure they were up. And then I came back and it said broadcast stopped. I didn't touch anything. Anyway, I'm back to answer questions. Um, and so, hey Angela Guerrero. So I will stay on another 10 minutes or so to answer questions. And you know what, part of my mistake, I have to be honest, is normally I get off of my Wi-Fi and I plug in an Ethernet cord And I plugged in my Ethernet cord this morning, but I didn't turn off the Wi-Fi. So maybe that's a part of the problem. Somebody said present. I'm present. Like, this is class. All right. So basically, I want to take about 10 more minutes with you. Again, I'm so sorry that that happened and answer questions. So I did see somebody ask me about Workboxes. Basically, Workboxes workboxes is a concept where you put— it's basically where you put like Michaels and they have those craft drawers. There's like, they're like these plastic drawers on wheels, but they're the skinny drawers and they, and they, there's like 10 of them, 10 of them. So in workboxes, each one of those drawers would have like a worksheet or it would have a, another one might have a puzzle. Or another one might have a snack, or another one might have a picture of the basketball goal, because when you open that drawer, that means you get to go outside and play basketball. So that's an official way to do it. Work boxes can also be done where you just have pieces of paper or, or, um, 3x5 cards, and you can put on the cards what comes next and put the cards on a ring. Hey, what's up? Is it on YouTube? Is what on YouTube? Yes, this is on YouTube. I'll go, I'll go chat. You're going to go in my chat, sir? No, you have to get ready for school. Get everything set up for school. Uh-huh. Go on. I'll be down there in a second. Um, so basically you're just basically giving the kids a visual of what comes next. In their day. And what it is, is it lets them be self-motivated. Now, the problem with work boxes is you have to set it up. Okay. You have to say, this is what you're doing today. But the beauty of setting it up is that then they don't have to ask you 5 minutes what comes next. And you can put things in an order that works for you. So I literally would put a card on it when my kids were little with a picture of Barney. I printed out a picture of Barney and then I, Taped it to the card. And so when they flipped the card and they saw Barney, they were like, yeah, I get to watch Barney. And then it was 30 minutes of them out of my hair, but I would stack that with basketball outside, you know, ball outside with Barney. And then, you know, then I'd say book time. Book time means I got enough books in this house. You're going to go spend quality time with whatever book you choose on a floor, quiet in your room. But when I did that, what I built was an hour and a half of me not having to engage. You see what I'm saying? So I would put, I would structure the day and say, if I could structure my child's day in 30-minute increments, this worksheet and then this snack and then this puzzle and then this online learning thing, and then it's lunchtime and then it's quiet time and then it's basketball and then it's Barney and then it's whatever. I just scheduled their day for them. And some of it they would need me for and some of it they would not need me for. But it kept them motivated. So I would say whether it's— and if you Google work boxes on Pinterest, you'll find it. Okay. Um, all right, listen, I— Lori, he said, I'm so glad I don't have to watch that purple dinosaur anymore. I have all of the videos and I told my daughter, do you want the VHS tapes? And she was like, I don't have a VHS player. Um, so let me just say hello for the people that were not on here, um, who just joined. So we'd already been live and I had some technical difficulties, but you're here with Chrystal Evans Hurst. Find more about me at chrystalevanshurst.com. Um, and so anyway, I still have the VHS tape, so when the grandkids come over, we plug them in because I still have a VHS player. Okay, Cynthia, last week you talked about self-care You said, I bought the candles you had for self-care from Target last week. Self-care matters. Um, I have a diffuser and I've never plugged it in. I think I'm about to plug it in this week. Okay. So I'm here for your questions related to, um, related to your, your rhythms in your day. We talked this morning about, um, what it looks like to, uh, to slay your day. So we talked about rhythm, routine, determining your routines, prioritizing your pit stops, building your blocks, identifying your top 3, and reflecting on your day. Someone from that live said, what did Steve Jobs say again? So basically he said he looked in the mirror. He said, every day for 33 years, I've looked in the mirror and asked myself, if today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I'm doing today? And he said, and whenever the answer had been no for too many days in a row, I know it need— I know I need to change something. I know I need to change something. All right, so here for questions. Okay, what kind of candles are they? Well, here's the thing, I just need to tell you my favorite candle is Tyler Candle, but I'm out of those right now. So when I went to Target, I just picked up some random candles. Um, they were totally random, random. Yes,
