STOP Believing You're Anything Less Than ROYALTY in God's Eyes

Chrystal Hurst teaches that believers are adopted daughters of God and therefore royalty, drawing on Ephesians 1. She distinguishes between being a daughter, princess, and queen, arguing that queens exercise inherited authority to bless others. Hurst urges listeners to shed temporary identities and claim their divine status instead of letting fear and comparison obscure it.

The Bible says you are adopted. So even if you don't feel like you got the right thing, even if you don't feel like you came from the right place, you don't speak church language, you're mad at God, you don't feel like you've had the opportunity to actually live your life as a believer. You're 80 years old. Maybe I'm too late. How do I know? Is he gonna give me— is he gonna bless me? Does God love me? He already said, come to me with your questions. I have adopted you. So y'all, I've been homeschooling for 20-some-odd years. I have 5 children. They are all currently aged 32 to 15. 2 girls, 3 boys, and I'm on the last one. I pretty much thought that when he got to this season of school that we would send him to school, but 9th grade came and we didn't. 10th grade came and we planned to send him in his junior year, but then an amazing opportunity came up and We sent him to a local school in our area so that he can live his whole best life, because he's my only extroverted kid in 5. People think I'm extroverted, but I'm not. So it takes a lot for me to get out of here, all my fun and foolery, show up every week and teach the whole thing. But I love being home. I'm a bookworm. I love all things school. I love the paper. I love the pens. Much to my children's chagrin, I have taught them how to organize their lives and take notes. Put your name and the date. Put your name and the date, please. In this season of my life, I'm going through and cleaning up all the crap that I have amassed over the last 20 years of homeschooling. Is a whole thing. I am no— not selling any of my most prized curriculum. I'm going to use that with my grandchildren or loan it out when the kids come over. It'll be Aunt Chrissy's library. Check out the book, bring it back. Uh, you need to leave me, uh, $10 on loan so that you get your $10 back. That's your library card. Because if you lose the book, if I need to replace it, I will. But anyway, this is the season of life that I'm in. It also means that, y'all, I have a lot of paper, a lot of paper that I need to clean up, a lot of paper that I need to get rid of. And in going through all those papers, I am going down memory lane, and I am sharing with the children their grades. Do you remember this? Do you remember how we used to do this? And it's not about the curriculum, it's not about Fix It Grammar, it's not about, uh, Wordly Wise, it's not about video text algebra. It's not about apology of biology or chemistry or general science. It is not about those things. It is about what's attached to those things. Sitting around the table because this was our Bible verse to memorize, "From my Father's world," or sunlight. This is about you going up to the community college because after a certain point you had to take classes, college algebra, when you were a sophomore or a junior to get that dual credit. Praise God for free dual credit. It's about the time that we spend in the car with me picking you up or stopping by Sonic on the way home for a drink. It is about the time invested. And really, if I'm telling the truth, y'all, it is about me and the definition in my life that I have. 20 years, y'all, 20 years plus of my life I have dedicated to giving a lot up to be with my children, um, to pour into their lives. And even some of my friends who are at-home moms, who their kids were in school, they would say, girl, my kids are in school, you want to go grab some lunch? No, I'm here with my kids. And that was a choice that we made as a family, and that is the choice that I'm happy that we made. I'm glad. If nothing else, I don't, I don't think that schooling determines necessarily your kids' outcome if you are an involved parent. That worked for us because private school was expensive. How about that? But it does define and has defined a large part of my life. 20 years I've been a homeschool mom. Before that, I was a single mom. Now I am a mother of a teenage son who is on his way out. I'm a grandmother. When I was going through all those papers, I was thinking about all those years, years committed to pouring the best of me into the best of my kids. And I was sad a little bit because as I'm throwing papers in the recycle box, As I am throwing things in the trash, as I am looking at all the memories and I'm thinking about the fact that my kids don't care about this. They don't care. They don't care about all this paper. I'm gonna put all the stuff in the bin anyway, but they do not care about the paper. Why did it make me sad? It made me a little sad because this is identity. I am putting identity in the recycle bin. 20 years compressed instead of boxes and boxes and stacks and stacks. It's this much for one year for that kid that I'm filing away and keeping for posterity's sake. My daughter told me, Mom, why are you keeping all that? She said, I want you to know that when you die, I'm burning it all. I said, that's fine. My goal is to organize it and put it in a bin so when you decide to burn my things, you will have clarity on what exactly you're burning and what you shouldn't burn. My job is to keep what I want to keep. Your job is to be easily able to identify what you don't care about. Don't come to me for that. But the reality is our identity often gets wrapped up in the seasons of life that we've lived. Our identity was wrapped up in that first marriage. Our identity was— has been wrapped up in our body. And then when our body changes, then we have an identity crisis. Our identity is wrapped up in where we live or the family of origin that we have. Our identity is wrapped up in where we went to church, and then we struggle when it's time to move on to another church. Our identity is in our job, it's in our career. And then when career changes or we get that pink slip, we don't know what to do. Our identity gets wrapped up in where we live or what people call us or the grades we made or the money that we amass or, God forbid, the cars we drive or the neighborhood we live in. And when any of that shifts from one season to another, our world is rocked. Y'all, I'm not talking to y'all about homeschooling. I hope you know that now. I am talking to you about the necessity of your shift in identity and that being an opportunity opportunity for you to recognize where your identity actually lies. This is what I want to say to you, particularly my female friends: you have been and you will always be a queen, a daughter of the King. That is your identity. But it takes a few seasons of your life to realize that you have put on— you are wearing other pieces of identity. And then when those seasons shift, or those things go away, or those people change, and you feel like Your ground is shaking. You feel like things are moving underneath you. You're like, oh my gosh, it— you feel a loss because you don't realize that a part of your identity was in the thing, the person, the season, the money, the location, people calling your name. So you have to know that your identity has never been in any of the things that will change, ever. From the day you were born, my hope is that you had someone in your life that told you that they loved you. And if you didn't, my hope is that you know that God loves you and that he danced the day you were born. And that before you did anything, went to school, got A's, joined the honor society, got in the Spanish club, that you were the track star, or maybe you were the president of your class, before you went to college, got the degree, got the master's degree, got the job, got the second paying job, quit, and then got one because you were trying to make that they paid you what you were worth. Before you got the other car, before you met and married, before you became a mom, before those kids left, before you got skinny, before you gained the weight and got comfortable with who you were when you looked in the mirror, before any of those things, and despite any of those things, you were royalty. Half of our lives is catching up with what God has already said. Half of our lives, if we're not careful, we spend catching up with what God already said. We just choose to give credence to and more power to what other people say. In Ephesians chapter 1, the first thing is you have to believe that you are blessed with every spiritual blessing. When you unite your life with the life of Christ in you from that day forward. Repeat after me. Repeat after me. You have everything you need. Repeat after me. I have everything I need. Here is the work of your life. The work of your life is believing that. The work of your life is operating in it. The work of your life is taking off anything that the world or other people or other circumstances try to put on you, because the enemy is after your soul. If he can't steal your soul, he wants to steal your time. The work of your life is keeping bullseye focused on the fact that I'm already blessed. I'm already a daughter. I already am full of whatever I need. My Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and whatever I need, he will supply. My God will supply all your needs according to his riches and glory. He has everything you need. So when Ephesians chapter 1 says you got every spiritual blessing, everything means— repeat after me— Everything. Here's the work of the enemy. The enemy of your soul wants to convince you otherwise. He shows up in the garden with Eve and he says, Eve, you can have any tree of the garden. It's what God said, don't have that one. And Satan showed up and made it his business to make sure she focused on the one. So we focus on the one man we can't have, the one job that said no. We focus on the one pound we can't lose or the one dollar we can't spend. We focus on the one time that child didn't do right, or the one time we had that argument with our husband, or the one church we tried that didn't work out, or the one group we tried where the people were a little toxic. We focus on the one, and we get tired because we think Here's the rub. We think that our future and the delivery of the best of our lives is reliant solely on us. No, you were blessed not only the day you were born with life, but also when you were reborn, you were blessed with every, everything, every spiritual blessing. So what does this mean? This means that before the world was even made, God loved you. It also means that before the world was even made, God knew that there was going to be a whole screw-up, and that you, in order to become a part of the kingdom and to be royalty, were going to have to be adopted. He said, I know she's gonna be out here by herself because somebody else in time abdicated They're royalty. And in order for her to have all the spiritual blessings and all the benefits of being a daughter of the king, I'm going to have to adopt her, cover her, bring her back into the fold, give her my name and say she's mine. So right off the bat, the Bible says you are adopted. You are adopted. You are in the family. In fact, it says in Ephesians chapter 1, it gave him great pleasure Right now, as I talk, my oldest grandchild is in my living room. I set her up, y'all, before I went live this morning with some cereal and some milk. And I said, all right, Bells, it is the morning, um, and you gotta— you can't come in. I gotta go live. I gotta do my thing. You can watch whatever your mother would let you watch. Uh, and also, and I threatened her and I said, now listen, whatever you turn it on, I can go and look into the history and see what you watch. So listen, I'm a techie grandmother. You can't pull one over on me. Here's your cereal. Choose from Lucky Charms or Honey Nut Cheerios. Here's the milk. Enjoy your life. She is over there with everything she needs, everything she needs, because I set her up for success. I said, I know what you need. I know what you're going to want. And I know what season you're about to be in. So not only are you a part of my family, but it brings me great pleasure to set you up. It brings me great pleasure to make sure you have what you need. It brings me great pleasure to have you hang out with me and let's watch two movies together. It brings me great pleasure to say I'm the cool grandmother. And so how can I be cool with you? That brings the relationship with you. You didn't do anything to be mine. You are mine. End of story. This is what God says about you. It gives him great pleasure for you to be his. He has graced you. He is kind, and the grace has already been poured out. You are free. Freedom is your birthright. You don't have to be tethered to anything that he is not asking you to be tethered to. We tether ourselves to things out of guilt. We tether ourselves to things out of shame. We tether ourselves to things that he is not asking us to tether ourselves to. He's like, why are you living the tethered, slaved lifestyle when I have adopted you? Everything I have is yours. I'm the Father who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and also I delight in showing you kindness. It's my pleasure for you to be mine. You are adopted. You're in the house, and it gives him pleasure for you to be there. He gives you revelation. There are things you can know because you are a spiritual being operating on earth, having a human experience with access to spiritual things. And the God who says, "You are my daughter," also says, "There are things I wanna reveal to you." some mysteries. There are secrets I want to tell you. Listen, y'all, I love my daddy, and there are things— and everybody knows it— we can be in a meeting and there'll be a whole— whether it's church or family related— and we know because we'll steal a glance, because I know him. My daddy was 22 years old when I was born. I have 50 years of history with him, and there are some things that he doesn't have to tell me because I could watch his body language and watch his face and have a whole conversation from across the room without a word being said. There are certain things, because I know him, there are certain revelations that I have that if you meet him, you won't know. That is the gift of Daughtership. That is the gift of my childhood blessing. That is the gift of my birth. And God says, listen, you are my daughter, and there are some things, there are some mysteries that I only tell my kids. And the beauty of it is this is to fulfill his own good plan. So the good that he's thinking about for you— Romans 8:28, all things work out together for the good— he is telling you, listen, Because I have things in, in, in my mind for you that are good, because it's my pleasure, you're my daughter, I want to set you up for success. There are some revelations that I will give you. So not only are you a daughter, but you are— you get the opportunity to be intimate and receive revelation. You have an inheritance. Listen, God is storing up things for you in spiritual places that you activate in your life through belief. If you walk around— do you understand why now the enemy does not want you to be successful in the kingdom of God and understand who you are? Because if you understand who you are, you also understand that there is an inheritance for you to access. There is something that you have in mind for me, in time or in eternity, real time or later on. But you cannot access inheritance if you don't believe you are a daughter. But he says you have an inheritance. He is storing up things for you, and you access those things by belief, by prayer, through obedience, through righteousness. If you don't believe you're a daughter, then you won't access because you won't ask. You, you won't even think it applies to you. You will point around at everyone else and say, well, why do they have that? And why did she have that? Well, that's not fair. Why does he have that? Why does he— okay, the work of the enemy is to keep you from thinking that you're royalty. Oh my gosh, I have shivers down my spine. That means it's coming, y'all. The work of the enemy, the work of the clock in time, is to have you think God is not good to you, that he's good to everyone else, and that the inheritance that is yours isn't. Because if you don't believe it belongs to you, you won't ask. If you don't believe you can access it, then you won't believe. If you believe that it's for everyone else, then instead of walking forward in power and belief, you will shrink back and whine and complain. I want you to know this is the beauty of daughtership, of being a child of God, because there are certain things you cannot access unless you believe. So the Israelites were like, we believe we're the chosen people. And as soon as God took them out and said, let me tell you how to get to the promised land, inheritance, As soon as he took them out, what did they do? Whine and complain. Why are we out here? We gonna die. Do you not see us? Do you not care about us? We're thirsty. We're hungry. We're sick of manna. Oh, we want some quail. Oh, we're sick. Oh, we're tired. Oh, it's hot out here. Duh-duh-buh-duh-buh. He took them out because he said, I'm taking you to the promised land. And what did they do? They saw the Red Sea. They saw the deliverance. They saw the provision. And then they still said, are you sure you love us? Because we thought we were your chosen We're not going to be able to make it to the Promised Land. Have you left us? Moses, why are you leading us? All that whining and complaining. Because if the enemy can keep you from thinking that there's a Promised Land, he'll keep you going in circles. Listen, y'all. Ooh, that hurt my ears. Goodness. It's the holidays, and sometimes you need a coach, which I can do that. I can encourage you from the sidelines, give you the plays. Sometimes you need a ref whose coaching I'm coaching you to stay within the lines, not to go out of bounds. You know what happens during the holidays for many of us? Let me tell you. We go out of bounds. We end up in toxic situations, toxic people, eating toxic food, starting toxic habits. And then we start the beginning of the year realizing that we done fouled out, been out of bounds, missed the goal, all of those. So you know what I'm doing in this season of the year in the Inner Circle? I want to coach you through the holidays. And even if I gotta blow the whistle on you every now and then. Why? Because I want you to play well. And I want you to start the year strong. And I'd love you to join me for all of that amazingness in the Inner Circle. The work of being a daughter is to believe that you are blessed with every spiritual blessing. You have everything that you need and to act like it. That you are loved, that you are adopted. The work of being a daughter is reminding yourself that he has already given you the best gift there is, and that's the opportunity to live in fellowship with him. That he has revealed to you and desires to continue to reveal to you the secrets, the secrets from the spiritual realm that the Holy Spirit reveals to your heart. He tells you that he has something good for you, and he guides you and directs you. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not to your own understanding, and all your ways acknowledge him. He will keep your path straight. You have an inheritance. Everything he has for you, he does not give you right now, but in time, with time, you start to see the deposits. Ah, ah, and you're like, oh my gosh, he was saving this up for me. Ah, there are some things that you just have to keep living in order to get. Ah, there are some things you just have to believe in order to receive. There are some things that you will only get when you choose to be obedient, when you choose to be long-suffering, when you choose to show up and do what he's asked you to do until he tells you to do something power for me. If you live long enough and believe you're a daughter, eventually you will see. You will see. It's a good plan. You are chosen in advance. Before you decided to get right, before you decided to do right, before you even decided if you are right or not, he chose you. He chose you. You are forgiven. Whatever it is, it's not bad enough to separate you from the power of the love of God. You just ought to read Ephesians chapter 1. So here's what happens. Mm-hmm. Once you believe you're a daughter, if you can start to understand, and I just shared a few things, there are other things in Ephesians chapter 1. If you can start to understand that what you see is not all there is, if you can believe that you're chosen and that you're a daughter, that you have an inheritance, that you have power, and that he wants to reveal the mysteries in spiritual places, if you have every spiritual blessing, and those are the only blessings that matter because you are a spiritual being, if you can understand being a daughter, then you can understand being a queen. The difference between a daughter who's royalty and a queen who's royalty is a queen understands her authority. And then she also bestows blessings and authority on other people. She realizes and owns the power that she has been given, and she gives the power to other people. The only identity that she has is the identity that was given to her through her DNA. Your DNA is royalty. That's what you need to understand. Before I was a homeschooling mom, I was a woman, a daughter after God's own heart, who for a season of her life poured out her life for her children. I don't regret not one second of it, but that's not my identity. For a season of my life, I was a single parent and experiencing in my 20s rejection upon rejection upon rejection and thinking, I'll never find a person to marry. And feeling that rejection is not a part of my DNA. I was a straight-A student, oldest born, firstborn, you name it, I fit that exactly. Whatever that is, I fit that exactly. But being a straight-A student and getting good grades and raising my teachers is not my identity. I'm musical. I sing, I write, I play, I direct choirs, I lead praise and worship. And as much as I sing, as I get older, my voice will change. That is not my identity. I am married. I am a woman. I am a wife. I love my husband. I love my family. I love being the keeper of my home. And I believe The keeper means guard. I guard my home. I believe in all of that, and I love being a wife. I am a wife. That is not the origin of my identity. I am a daughter of Tony Evans. I love Tony Evans. He is my father. He is amazing. He is faithful. He is full of integrity. Amazing man. And I have his physical DNA. I am the daughter of Lois Evans. I look like the two of them combined. They raised me, and I have so much in my you of ministry because I grew up in this ministry way, in this ministry house. I love my church. I love my local church. I am not first and foremost their daughter. I am first and foremost a daughter of the King. And once you live long enough and you can start to peel away all the pieces of your identity, they matter. They're a part of your story. They're good. I love all the things. I love all the things that have made me, given me my life. I like that I like to read. I like that I love to keep my home. I love that I get to work and own a business and have a team. And I love that I was a single parent because it taught me a lot of sensitivity to women who are in that season. I like the fact that I worked in corporate America and then have worked in ministry. I like even the things I don't like. I like what it has birthed in me. None of those things are the core eminence of my identity. At the core of who I am, I'm a daughter of God. And while all these things swirl around, all these things swirl around to become this DNA of Chrystal Hurst. The reason why there is DNA is because he said, "You're my girl." The difference between a daughter and a princess and a queen, it's a woman who owns that identity. Unshakable. Solid foundation. And when I feel the questioning in my spirit, 'cause the questions come, Was I supposed to say that? Was I supposed to do that? Am I sure? Am I okay? Was I, you know, did I do this right? Like, we all, you know, we all put on our pants the same way. We all have to, you know, wear the boulder holders. We all have to put our big girl panties on, all those things. We have our moments. But what centers me back to the beginning: he put me here and he gave me everything I needed. The work of my life is accessing it, is believing it, is walking in it. In this season of my life though, because I've lived long enough to understand how this works and I've lived long enough to operate as a daughter, I now know what it means to operate as a queen. The difference is authority. The difference is belief. The difference in being a queen is you own it. You're not waiting on it. A daughter, a princess, has to wait to be crowned queen. But when you're a queen, the only authority you have after that ultimately is God, and you know it. You know that the people in your life are waiting on you to own what God has given you so you can rule. In Genesis It's called the kingdom mandate. God, three-person Trinity, said, let them rule. Them, the man and the woman. My big fat Greek wedding. He might be the head, but I'm the neck. The beauty of life is owning who God already said you are. And the difference between being a prince, being a son, being a daughter, being a princess, and being a king or a queen is authority. And not the kind of authority that you wield on people in a mean and vindictive or overly powerfully charged way. It's authority that I know who I am when I step in a room. I know when I step into a room and whether my speech or my conduct or the room doesn't fit. Why am I acting this way? Why am I saying this? Why am I acting like I need somebody's permission? Why am I acting like, you know, I'm afraid that I won't get the promotion? When I see myself acting out of concert with who I am, or if the situation no longer serves me, that a relationship needs to be set on the right foundation, or if a, a conversation needs to be had in one of my friendships, or the way I need to spend money or make decisions that God who owns a cattle on a thousand hills has enabled me to do that, that there's wisdom available to me. Inner circle, that's why we're studying Proverbs. Get wisdom. James says to ask. If I need wisdom, I have a Father who wants to give it to me. Like, I can operate and say I don't know everything, but that's okay. I have a Father who has blessed me with every spiritual blessing, and he has said that he will reveal the mysteries of the world to me. So if I need information and if I need wisdom, all I have to do is ask. But that does not mean when I step into a situation where I'm not sure about the answer that I can't also step into that situation as a queen. A queen that needs wise counsel, or a queen that may need some support, or a queen that needs some help. It doesn't change the fact that I'm a queen. You're a daughter, but I just want you to own your authority. And if you've been in this world for 5 seconds long enough to know you should be walking with authority— you know who I'm talking to— then you need to identify what's getting in the way. Is it because you are afraid you won't be accepted? Is it because you're afraid that you might lose some people? Is it because you're afraid of making the wrong decision? Is it because you're afraid? Fear— there is no fear in love, and you are greatly loved. Fear. Do not fear is hundreds of times said in the Bible because he knew we would. When you walk into a room and you are not fully in your own two shoes and fully in your skin, you are not operating in your authority. And that's what you should have every stinking day. If you are a queen and you actually believe that you have the authority to move forward in your life and that if you don't have the answer, you have a Father who does. What would you do to show up as the full version of you in your life? What power has God given you that you're not accessing? What dream that he's given you that you're not chasing? What act of obedience has he convicted you about that you're not doing? And what in the world are you waiting on? When you're a queen, you can say no. When you're a queen, you can set boundaries. When you're a queen, you can express yourself. When you're a queen, you can ask for what you need because what you need is not a determiner of whether or not you're needy. I just, I'm a queen. I need it. When you're a queen, you get to live unapologetically in the full DNA of who God created you to be. And when you're a queen, you don't do it all by yourself. So this is me telling you, it's time for you to queen up. You're a queen, own it. You're a daughter, believe it. You are loved, receive it. I hope this has been helpful to you. I have two questions for you and I'd love to see the answer in the chat. A, what has kept you from owning being a daughter, being royalty, being a queen? What's getting in your way from stepping into it? Number 2, if you believed that you were a daughter, if you believed you were a queen, you would dot, dot, dot, dot, dot. What's keeping you? And if you believed it, what would you see in your life? Evidence. What's the evidence of you not believing? What's the evidence of you receiving? Those are my 2 questions. Mine, I'll throw away the paper. Because the 20-year run that I've had being a stay-at-home mom and sometimes a stay-at-home working mom with my kids is not the definition of my life. It was a season, but not the overarching story. The overarching story of my life is God has always been creating me to be a connector, a communicator, and a confident woman who calls other women to confidence too. He's been doing it the whole time. That was one of the seasons. It was a long one, but it was one of the seasons. It is not the origin of my DNA. And if I am choosing, and if I, the great peanut butter and jelly sandwich maker that I am, and if I, the introvert in my obedience and walking forward and doing many of the things that he's asked me to do, then how much more can you? If a woman who knows she's a queen and can tell you the seasons of life where she struggled to think that about herself tells you you can be a queen, then I think you ought to listen. I think you ought to listen. Because on the other side of your obedience and your effort to believe is your inheritance. There are certain things that you don't get until you get old enough in your soul for it to be time to download. The inheritance. And it's Satan's job to keep you from getting to that point, because when you get to that point, you will believe. If he can keep you from believing you are not royalty, he will keep you from receiving the power, the grace, the forgiveness, the confidence, and the inheritance, and the answers you need. The work of your life is believing because what you are needing to believe already is. It's just not activated until you cooperate with it. Queen. Hmm. Coach Chrystal Hurst. Mama Chrissy, Queen Chrissy, Queen Chrystal Hurst, it'll change the way you walk into a room. So cheers to the queens. Wow!
