The Evolution of You | Celebrating 10 Years of Podcasting

Chrystal Hurst marks 10 years of podcasting by revisiting the "4 Fs" that built her show and introducing a fifth: Focus. Good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning, good morning. Happy May! It's the first Monday and it's time for you to share— hey Tiffany Ferrari— what you are drinking. Here's a little ASMR for you. Ouch! That water was hot. It spilled on me. Ouch! Look, now I got a big water stain. This is it right here. This is it. Jesus, help me. Jesus, keep me near. This is terrible. I'm just rubbing my boobs. Just, that's what's happening on the 10-year anniversary. Good morning, good morning. Would love to know what you're drinking, where you are watching from. That would be amazing because somebody's going to say something this morning in the chat, we're like, what is that? Okay, we have some elderberry tea. Okay, of course we have water. Amazing. Uh-huh. Your volume is low. It shouldn't be low. Is it still low? Let me know. All right, thanks for the happy well wishes for 10 years and the happy anniversary. It's gonna dry in a few, just leave it alone, Chrystal Hurst. Stop rubbing on yourself. I'm having a Panera Bread caramel latte. Okay, hey Norfolk, Virginia, good morning. Oh, here it comes in hot, jasmine and mango green tea. Oh, here's the special mushroom hot chocolate. With adaptogenics. Please explain, please explain. What, what is a mushroom hot chocolate and what are we adapting to? What is happening? Popano Beach, good morning. San Antonio, HEB coffee. Is HEB meaning you bought it and you brought it home and made it, or you went to HEB and got it? Okay, come on. Rubo's Tea from South Africa. So are you in South Africa? Drinking rooibos tea, or you got your rooibos from South Africa? Rooibos makes everything better. Come on with the Jamaican coffee. All right, uh, iced caramel coffee. Good morning, good morning, good morning. Newcastle, Delaware, drinking water. Thank you for the well wishes, I appreciate it, I appreciate it. Good morning, good morning. Hello, Hibiscus Tea. You know, I'm a hibiscus tea drinker. I really am. Let's talk about a couple of things.
This is—
and I've talked about this a little bit before— this is dandelion leaf tea. Let me do my YouTube situation. You know where you put your hand behind it, you do that so everybody can see it, and then it doesn't want to when your lights are bright. How about that? Because really, I'm supposed to be able to do that. There you go. Dandelion leaf and root. You should put this in your repertoire. I'm not drinking that this morning, but I may drink it a little later. Right now I'm drinking my Chrystal Hurst tea blend that we're still kind of testing a little bit. But, um, let me tell you something, it's gonna taste like dirt. It's gonna taste like dirt. If you can drink black coffee, you can drink dandelion leaf but root. Get the root. Dandelion root tea. Drinking a Celsius. Okay, all right. From Papua New Guinea. Hey girl! Hey Miss Martha, thanks for watching. Come on, mixed berries, strawberry, cherry, mint, and spinach. It's all about you in the corner. Candace in the corner while I'm talking about come on. She like, hey. Hey, oh, I was supposed to post this to Instagram. I took a whole video and then I didn't post it to Instagram. Hold on, let me do it, let me do it. Hold on, praise the Lord, everybody. Um, post the thing I just did, girl, post it. Oh, you know what, can I give this to you and will you put a link for the live that we're doing right now? And then I need tissue when I— oh wait, I can use my head. My headband. I'm gonna use my headband because this is what you have to have in your life if you want to slick this down. Do you understand?
You understand?
You want it to lay, you got to put some juices and berries on it, and then you have to slick it back and hold it down. You got to tell it who's boss. I'm boss. Stay down. All right, I don't even know what I was saying. Oh, we were posting to Instagram, we were talking about that, we're trying to like— I'm gonna come back to dandelion root because it has to do with obedience. Dandelion tea is good for a lot of things, but it's mainly good for your, um, well, I was told to drink it years ago because it's a good detox for your liver. And I had, um, hives really bad, and I was taking Zyrtec every day And I went to my midwife and she said, you know, you're going to have to stop taking that because it's going to mess with your milk supply. And I was like, you don't understand. If I don't take this, I am red all over. Like if I just would touch myself, like, you know, ooh, I'd smack my wrist to like kill a fly or something. Then my hand would like rise up in fingerprints. It was bad. And so she said, yeah, just take, just drink the dandelion leaf tea. And then just tell me, give it 3 days, drink it twice, 2 to 3 times a day, and tell me at the end of 3 days if you no longer have hives. So I obeyed, and, um, yeah, I haven't, I haven't taken Zyrtec since for that. So it's a good liver situation. I'm not a doctor. This was not medical advice, you know, all the things that I'm supposed to say.
Yay!
Okay, come on, South Africa. Good morning, good morning. I'm so glad your hair listens. No, the grays don't want to listen. There's, there's a couple. There's one right here. Do you see that? It's right here, and she's like, I don't have to do not nary a thing you say. That's what she's saying. I don't have to do not nary a thing you say. That's what she's saying. But you know what, it's all right. You want to know what I'm gonna do to her? She's about to meet her death this afternoon. I'll show her who's boss, at least in the short run. I know eventually the, the unruly ones are going to win, but that's okay. Praise the Lord, everybody! Welcome in the room. Come on, Southern California, I'm glad that you're here. Glad that you're here. A few things to share with you this morning. First of all, if you just got here, um, I have been podcasting for 10 years. So we started out, y'all, legit, I was in my bed with my laptop with my kids' microphone that they use for Rosetta Stone, and I just recorded the podcast. If you have not yet listened to it, we relaunched it last night, and so you can listen to it on YouTube because there was no video then. You can listen to it on YouTube, you can listen to it wherever you listen to your podcast— Apple, Spotify. It's no longer Stitcher. I gotta fix some things. We're on Pandora. Um, we're gonna start publishing the audio-only podcasts on YouTube because we know some of y'all don't watch anyway. You're just listening anyway. Okay, so, um, so what I do every Monday, if this is your first time here— and if it's your first time here I would love to know. Can you tell me in the comments? If it's your first time, give me a thumbs up. If you are here for the first time and you are under 35, give me a fist bump. So some of y'all are going to give me a thumbs up because it's your first time. Some of y'all are going to give me a fist bump because you're under 35. And then some of y'all are going to give me a thumbs up and a fist bump because it's your first time and you're under 35. Okay. I want to know which young girls are in the room looking for wisdom. That's what I'm trying to see— what young girls are in the room looking for wisdom. All right, um, at the same time, come on in the room. I see you first-timer, Miss Meek. I see you first-timer, Miss Maria Vasquez. I see you 35 and under, Jojanna Hall. I see you first-timer, Miss Vicki Thompson, Miss Sylvia Tucker. Amazing. Also, y'all, if you're in here and you are an inner circle girl, go ahead and drop that yellow circle. Y'all know how we do it. I want everybody to know that y'all are rolling in strong. Hey, Miss Linda. Hey, Soul RC. Miss Marie, welcome, welcome. Miss Dawn, glad you're here. Marika, glad you're here. Come on in strong, those yellow circles. Show them where we're at. Praise the Lord, everybody. Praise the Lord. Okay, so good morning. So we started back in May and, um, of 2014, and I talked a little bit about it on the podcast that we shared last night, but it was audio only, and there was a reason for that. The reason for that was because I knew video was an option. It wasn't as big of a thing as it is now, but I knew video was an option and I did not— let me repeat, I did not— let me say it again a thrice time. No, no, no, no. I'm sitting here searching for the word. I got it. I was sitting here searching for my Spanish. No quiero I— y'all know, y'all know what I'm trying to say. I did not want to talk on nobody's TV, nobody's screen, and there's a reason for that. You want to know why? The reason is because don't nobody want to get dressed. I didn't want to get dressed. I am doing an amazing job for y'all today. I have on my, my Studio Fix. I got on a little, little whatever this is called, a little bronzer. I put on my, my, um, well, I put on my Studio Fix. Look at here, I did that. I put on my They're Real mascara. I even put a little lip gloss on for y'all. I slicked it back. I don't look like I just got out of bed. Jesus, I put on color. Listen, y'all are blessed and highly favored. Uh, shucks. There was a reason. Um, the other reason is because in my head what was going to happen is I was going to talk and then I was going to have lots of words and then I was going to take those words and write blogs with them. And I ended up just talking. There were years that I just didn't even blog at all. Um, so now every time a podcast goes live, there's a blog that's associated with it. So when you see a YouTube video come up online, if you go down into the notes for the show, there's a link that you can click. Some people don't even know this, where you can go to the website. The website of course has the audio, it has the video, and also it has a blog attached to it. You can still talk to me on the blog. We still read those comments. We still look at the comments and the feedback when you leave a comment on Apple, or if you leave a comment wherever, you can comment on YouTube. So we have all these different ways that you can connect, but there's now writing attached to it. But we started out because I didn't want to, I didn't want to be on camera. And so every Monday morning, these inner circle girls and I, all of the yellow circles that you see, We get up on Monday mornings at 7 AM Central, and there are some girls that show up in here, y'all, and they're on the West Coast at 5 AM. And then there are some girls at 8 AM on the East Coast who are at work being diligent, and I'm just in the background. Because what I'm not going to allow y'all to do is not do your job. You got to show up and be excellent, okay? Stop stealing them pens out of the office. Don't steal time. But if you're able to work with me in your ear, then so be it. We have women who will get on and they walk with me while I'm on live in the morning, and I create content with a little bit of fun and foolery. Just a little bit, just a little bit. But we're here so that I'm still creating content. So we do fun and foolery, and then I— at one point, I'm a newscaster. I stack my papers, I clear my throat, I straighten up and fly right, and then I deliver whatever the message is for that day. Sometimes I'm very prepared, or other times like today I am not. And we just see what's gonna happen. We just see what's gonna flow. Sometimes some of the, some of the best things are what flows. So we're gonna see what's gonna flow on today. So that's how we got here. And then in 2020, um, I had been practicing. I bought some software. I, you know, I had an old camera and I said, I'm, I'm gonna eventually do this YouTube thing. I know I have to. And then COVID happened and I was like, well, let me be helpful. We're all at home. I'm going to get on there and go live. And one day turned into two and two turned into a week and a week turned into a month and a month turned into three months every day. And, um, uh, yeah, that's how a lot of y'all found me. Some of y'all are here because you saw that doggone Write It Down video. Didn't you? Didn't you? You saw that Write It Down video. Let me put it where it goes, over here. That's a good spot. You saw the Write It Down video and you were like, who is this? I think we got like 10,000, 15,000 new subscribers from that video. Some of y'all are here because you saw that video. Um, some of y'all are old heads. Y'all been around for a minute. You recognize this graphic. You're like, I've been here, Chrystal Hurst. I'm a real one. Because some places, I don't know where, but definitely on my blog, you can still go back there. So we are closing in on 500 episodes. Are we gonna have to have another celebration when we get to 500? Something needs to change at 500. My cover graphic needs to change, the music. Maybe we get an upgrade on the music. Yeah, maybe, maybe I do a different— maybe we change the office around. I don't know, we'll have to figure out what we do at 500. Maybe I stop. It's not an option. Maybe—
I don't know.
What are we going to do at 500? 500, that's like 20— that's like 20 episodes from now. So that should basically take us to the end of the year. So like we could almost maybe end on 500 and then we can take the break or something. We need to figure that out. We need to figure that out. Demetria says, thank you for those COVID days. Says I'm a real one. Michelle said finding you led me to being ready in the place where God wanted me to stretch my boundaries. Um, I am still writing it down. Come on there, stopping is not an option. You can't tell me what to do. Don't stop. Chrystal Hurst Chronicles, y'all remember, no stopping allowed. Y'all can't tell me what to do. I'm part of the Write It Down crew. And listen, y'all, y'all are committed to your era. Here's the thing, y'all, some of y'all are like— I've had some women say to me, listen, these do 2020 people. We don't— they not— they— we, we, we, we, we— they just got here. They just excited. They just got here. We've been here. And then the 2020s are like, I'm a COVID baby. It's like claiming your Gen X You're baby boomer. It's like claiming you're millennial. It's like, I, I arrived to write it down. I'ma write it down, girl. You know how it's like, you know, when people would say, what, you, you knew where you were when MLK was shot? People are like, I know when I got on this train. I know, I know when, I know when I showed up. Okay. Oh my goodness. Okay, somebody said, I, I am here, I'm part of the Write It Down crew. And then Michelle White says, okay, but I really showed up after the She's Still There. So there were some She's Still There people, there's some 28-day prayer people. Okay, we showed up for different reasons. Let me just tell you something, every step of the way— hey Shawna, day one crew, 10 years strong. I joined at your 50th birthday. You see how they— see how we know? Melanie says, I got here in 2016. Um, but here's the thing, y'all. I have been out here doing stuff, making the dog thing up as I go. And can I just tell you, I'm gonna get serious for 5 seconds and then I'm gonna bounce back. But oh yeah, Kimberly Knox says, I'm an OG Patreon. There's still some Patreon people here. They're still here. They paying their $5 a month faithfully. Okay, thank you. I might just go to Starbucks once a month because of that. Um, oh, the women of our church have done She's Still There for 5 years straight. What? That's amazing. So literally though, I, I've had some moments in the last Hmm, in the last couple of weeks, but definitely in the last week, where— oh, there's a chapter. You know, sometimes you got to read your own book. Where's my book? Here it is. There's a chapter in here, and when you haven't read it in a while, you don't know where it is, but there's a chapter in here.
Hold on.
And it says— I don't even know where it is actually, but there's a phrase in here and it says, um, comparison will kill you, run your race. It's right here, run your race, in the back of the book. And there's this thing right here, let's see if I can get my thing to cooperate, and it says conquering comparison. Yeah, I need to read my own book. Let me tell you, um, there's been some times in the last week where we can't avoid seeing what other people are doing, and we can call into question, um, if we're doing enough, if we're doing it right, if we should be doing it all. Doing it at all. There are people that started around the same time I started, and I can see what they've been able to accomplish. They can see what I've been able to accomplish. It is very hard. Let me just acknowledge this. It is very hard to, to, to not look around, especially at a moment when there is a lot to celebrate and think about all the things that could be different. And if you're not careful, it'll throw off your emotional equilibrium. Okay, and my emotional equilibrium has been thrown off. There's actually a long list of reasons, a long list of reasons that, that has happened in the last couple of weeks. But one of them is, it was like, oh, I still haven't done this, I still haven't finished that, I'm still struggling to do this. Consistently, or if I would put my mind to, to that. Or, or maybe it's I'm doing all the things that I know to do, and I'm doing all the things that, that I have the capacity to do, and it's still like not enough, you know what I'm saying? You know, have you ever like saved money for something and you were so excited, and then you were like, okay, I think I'm gonna get to it, I think I'm gonna buy it, and then you get to that point and then you're like, oh, I still don't have enough? Or maybe you've been saving for a house, right? And the housing market is just up and down and all around. And then you're finally ready and you're like, oh, now the interest rates are too high. Or you've gone to school and you've done all the work and you've gotten your degree and you, you know, you spent the extra money, you spent the extra time, and now goodness, I'm applying for jobs and I'm still not getting them, you know. Or I don't know, you— there are times in your life where you're not doing what you need to do and you are lamenting the fact that you're not achieving what you want to achieve. And then there are times where you are doing all the right things and you just don't— it doesn't seem to be enough. And I have had moments where I've asked the Lord, like, seriously, am I doing it wrong? Have you ever asked yourself that question? Am I doing it wrong? Like, is there something wrong with me? Is there something wrong with the way I'm doing it? Is there something wrong with the way I'm showing up? Is there something wrong with you know, with, you know, like the knowledge that I have or don't have. Like, I just want you to understand that, um, that is normal. It is normal to have moments of, um, doubt and concern and questioning and Frustration, sadness, envy, jealousy. So the question is not whether or not those feelings will come, or the question is not whether or not you'll wonder about what you're supposed to be doing. The question is, are you going to keep doing what you know to do? That's, that's it. That's the question. That's the question. Renelda is like, speak the truth, Chrystal Hurst. I went over this with my therapist on last Thursday. Let me just say this out loud: I am not a therapist. I don't have a license. I, uh, don't have a degree in counseling. I am not a therapist. But here's what I do want to say that I've been told many times about our Monday Morning situation and about the Inner Circle situation. Or about the podcast or about the book, this book, the She's Still There book. Free or next to free therapy. That's what I want to say. So I think that you all who show up in the inner circle, who show up online, by the way, pause, uh, go ahead and send this video to 2 or 3 people while I'm live. I'll be live here for probably another, we'll see what the Lord says. Because I was gonna say what I was gonna do. I was gonna say that I'm gonna be off at 8:30, but that's normally what I do with the Inner Circle. So, and today's a celebration, and then I have to get off and we have to do our after party with the Inner Circle. So it may not be 8:30 Inner Circle, but I'm gonna definitely be done here in this place no later than 8:30, maybe 8:15. But, um, but around, um, yeah, I mean, I've even had so many people tell me their actual therapist recommended this book. They got it from their therapist. I'm like, really? That tells you how much work I need. If I was writing books that people are picking up at their therapist's office, what does that say about me? Um, so I think that we have to just acknowledge that part. I walked in here today, y'all, and I was kind of a little bit in the doldrums. And I have— I won't share all the depressing thoughts, but I will say that I was literally thinking, I don't even know what I want to talk about this morning. I don't even know what I could say that's helpful. I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing to celebrate 10 years. I don't know how I'm going to manufacture excitement and joy and happiness. I don't know. You know, what was I supposed to do to celebrate 10 years? And there are so many things that I could have done. I could have gone back into the archives and found some pictures of me in front of the Brown Door. I could have gone back and found some, some, um, you know, some photos of me from 10 years ago and what I was doing. I could have had a list of 10 years ago, this is what I was doing. Y'all listen, it's been a rough weekend. It was first Sunday dinner over here. We had first Sunday dinner. Let me, let me tell you what my life looked like. Let me just tell you what my life looked like because this probably didn't help. Yesterday, Saturday night, Saturday, I was speaking in Jacksonville, North Carolina. I'll back that up for you in just a minute. But Saturday I was speaking in Jacksonville, North Carolina, which is 3 hours from Charlotte, 2 hours from Raleigh., and my flight out on Sunday morning was scheduled for 5:15. I was going to fly out of Ellis Airport, get a connecting flight in Charlotte, and be home before 10 so that I could change clothes and go to church. Because I believe in going to church. I will take a red-eye to get to church. If I can do other things, I can get to church. So, um, y'all, at about 9 o'clock Saturday night, I got a notification from the airline that my 5:15 flight in the morning had been delayed to 9. That was of course going to make me miss my connecting flight in Charlotte, and the next connecting flight that I was going to be able to get was 9 o'clock that night. Well, this First Sunday, I got food coming. I've, I've got, I've got stuff in order. It's in the works. So I contemplated, you know, maybe canceling First Sunday dinner, but the lady had already bought the food. I mean, I thought about all these different things, and finally I just said, I got to get home. So Catherine, um, who is one of our From 2020 interns. That was like an all-star intern team. Many of them are still around. Um, she lived an hour away, y'all. She got up at 3 o'clock in the morning to come pick me up from my hotel at 4 AM for us to drive 2 hours to get to the Raleigh airport so that I could catch a 6:57 AM flight nonstop to get back to Dallas. Then I got back to Dallas, walked in, changed my clothes and get to church. And I realized that some of the things that needed to be done for First Sunday Dinner had not been done. And a young woman was sweet enough to come Friday and help me get prepared. But there were some things that were left over that I needed to do. So I just decided to watch, you know, church from home. I felt a little heathenistic, but whatever. And finished doing all the things. This is what Sunday looked like. So I walked into Sunday Dinner from a, from a very, very early morning, having spoken the day before, hosted everybody, um, you know, did all that, did all that stuff. And then I, um, then I got on Instagram and doom scrolled for 2 hours. When everyone left, I thought, my house is empty. Jesse's not here, he's gone on to get the boys from college. Joel is with Priscilla, he'll be home today. And I was like, how often do I get to be in my house by myself? So I was like, what do I want to do? I don't really want to watch TV. I want to— I'll be tempted to pull out my computer and work because work is fun to me. I could do laundry, but that's like— I should just enjoy my house and just lay across my bed. And I got on Instagram and doom scrolled, and that was a recipe for don't be excited about your life. Um, but I was tired— recipe for disaster. Um, I was off of my routine right? I'm coming out of traveling. And while I was grateful for the quiet, you know, I probably just sitting there on Instagram and looking at everybody's stuff, started feeling like, okay, where's my, you know, really what am I going to do to celebrate 10 years? I'm not a celebrator naturally. I have to work really hard. And even when I desire to work really hard, something in life always seems to blow up at me and kind of throw me off. I I still have not— I did a lot of things to celebrate my 50th birthday, but there's one thing to celebrate my 50th birthday I did not do, and I'm still like sore about that. So I'm thinking about like what I would want to do, and it just takes so much energy, and then the energy that I would need gets sucked up by something else. And there's a ton of things today that I could tell you that over the last 2 weeks have sucked the life out of me. So then I'm doom scrolling and I'm looking and I can feel myself do it like this. So this morning I got up, I set a million alarms. I told Alexa to shut up like 7 times. I literally said that. Alexa, shut up. I'm sorry, I just turned on all of your Alexas. I apologize. So anyway, all that to say, I walked in here this morning and I'm trying to get myself together. And I came in and the girls had put— I got these little tingly things hanging everywhere, you know, like this right here. And there are balloons on the floor. And then there's 10 Years in the background and there's balloons, you know, got a balloon right there. And it just felt like, okay, okay, it's a good day. Because I know, uh, Emonique, and I thought about that, and I know how to get your number. I thought about it, but I was like, there is no way in Hades I am going to wake you up at 4 o'clock in the morning to bring me back. Y'all, Emonique came to the event I was speaking at. We had a chance to meet in person. She's an Inner Circle member, and she was spending the night in Raleigh to go home the next day. I thought about it. And I was like, I'm not doing that. I'm not gonna make that girl wake up. But, um, but like, I just want to say, like, you can— this is the point of this, okay? This is the point. The point is, is you can have the most incredible things happen in your life, achieve the most incredible things in your life, and still have internal or external battles happening, and people don't see that. They see the 10 years, they see the yellow swirlies, they see all the things. I, you know, and it's a, it's a matter of reframing, and sometimes you do it for yourself, sometimes other people do it for you, but you have to— and this is me preaching to myself, as my friend Ruth Jo Simons would say— you have to reframe Because here's the deal. Here's the deal. If I want to say what really is happening here, what really is happening is that for 10 years, apart from planned breaks, every week, sometimes twice a week, I have shown up. Um, I, for 10 years, I have interviewed, I don't know how many people. For 10 years, I have built and figured out, tried to figure out how to build a community. For 10 years, I have created content that has become blog posts, that have become books, that have become, um, um, things that I have taught from a stage. I get on here and something happens, the Holy Spirit starts talking to me, and then I'm writing it down, trying to capture it, and then it becomes a teaching from a stage. For, for 10 years and even longer than that, I've been involved in women's ministry at my church. Um, and there, there are a lot of things that people want to do consistently and they don't. And I, and I've done that, and that is worth celebrating. Because we don't always get to turn— it's definitely worth celebrating. And the thing is, is I so want to turn on music, but then we're going to get the video dinged. This is why I love and I hate YouTube. Let me play my music! This is why Inner Circle Girls, we use Crowdcast, because when we use Crowdcast to have our monthly sister sessions, I could do whatever I want to in there. I can play whatever I want to play and nobody cares. On YouTube, I got to watch all the things. Happy 10 years. Thanks. But it's reframing. It really is. And sometimes you need people to help you do that. So here's what I want to ask you about. I want to ask you this morning before I do my official talk, before I jump into a little bit of foolery, I want to ask you what have— what have— she said, oh my gosh, my Alexa is upset. What have you done that you can be proud of? And you may not be where you want to be, but you're not where you were and you've done something, even if you didn't do it consistently. Something that you can celebrate, something that you can say, I have moved this forward. I am convinced that one of the, um, tricks of the enemy, honestly, one of the schemes of the enemy is to have us think we haven't done enough, is to have us think that other people have something that we don't, which they might, but to think that that has anything to do with what we are supposed to show up and do because we were called to do it. So the reason why that Write It Down video is so powerful for me is because when I talk in the video, I talk about how a year before I had written down, um, what I wanted to see happen with the planners, and then the planners were in the office, right? Um, but, but let me tell you about another thing that I wrote down when I was in my 20s. I bought— I would go to the Franklin Covey store and I would buy the planner and I would write down— I would spend all that money, y'all, on this expensive planner. I still have some of my, my leather-bound situations. And, um, I would write down my goals because there was a goal section in there. And I still have from one year what I wrote down, and it basically says that one day that I would be teaching women, yes, God's word, but also, also I would be teaching women about how to practically apply faith-based principles to their life. I did not know anything about a podcast. I did not know anything about YouTube. I did not know anything about Patreon. I did not know anything about an inner circle website. I did not know anything about, um, WordPress. All I knew is that back then that there was something in me. And so I have cultivated that a lot of different ways by serving at my church, of course, by doing this podcast, by writing on my blog years ago when it was a mommy blog. It's still out there. Sometimes the best thing that you can do when you don't even know where you're headed is just to write down what you know and then go. And then you're going to have moments along the way where you're like, oh my gosh, I don't know what I'm doing, and oh my gosh, I thought I'd be further, and oh my gosh, is this all I have achieved? And some of y'all are like, what are you talking about? You have 100 and whatever thousand people on YouTube. Yeah, I know, I know. And that's what we'll do if we're not careful. We'll play down the things that are great in the light of things that are greater. But that doesn't mean what we have is not great, and it doesn't mean that greater is better. May not be better for us, it may not be better for the people that we're supposed to minister to or share. So I just want to call out for just a second what celebration can look like. And it looks like balloons and stringies. And I'm so grateful that other people thought enough about me and about this milestone to celebrate us and what we've achieved. But it can also look like walking in the room and thinking, there's still so far to go. There's still like, Why am I doing this? And am I sure that this is actually making sense? And how do I want to change things? It can look like that. It can look like at 10 years I thought I'd be further, or I thought something would have— there's other things that would have happened. It can look like, you know, a lot of things. But I want you to to do what I did today. She said the volume is low, and I don't know if the volume is low for everyone. It's not? Okay. I want you to do what I did today. You wanna know what I did today? I got out of bed, I slicked back my hair, I put on a little makeup, I I put on my, my mommy's necklace, my earrings, put on a little mascara for y'all. And I sat in the chair. The majority of the battle is going to be won by you continuing to sit down in the chair, physically, metaphorically, literally, ideologically, sit in the chair. Some of y'all are simply struggling because you got to a point where you had these feelings and you quit sitting in the chair. I have no idea— this is not even my talk, but maybe it is— I have no idea what the next year, 5 years, or 10 years will bring. But what I have learned is that so much is accomplished in life if you just keep going, if you just keep sitting in the chair. You just got to keep sitting in the chair. For some of y'all, it means sitting in your counselor's chair. Quit quitting your counselor. Stick with it. For some of y'all, it means sitting in the chair with your spouse and having hard conversations that honestly you're like, you're dead to me. I'm done. No, keep sitting in the chair. For some of you, it means listening to that child again. Keep sitting in the chair. For some of you, it means you have been waiting on that promotion forever. Keep sitting in the chair. James Meeks years ago preached a sermon, and I can't even remember what the sermon was about. I actually reached out to someone at our church to give me the sermon, and I've downloaded it so I can listen to it. But I will never forget what was said that stuck with me. And he said, Don't get out of line. He said, some of y'all are messing up because you quit the line. The line is too long. You're tired of being on your feet. You see people skipping the line. You say, that's not fair. You're wondering what's going to come of you being in the line. And because you get tired of waiting in line, you get out of line. We've all had that experience, right? When you wait in one line and it's going so slow, so you go to the other line and then the line you were in actually starts moving faster and you're like, shoot, I should have stayed in that line at the grocery store. And because sometimes we're not sure which line is right, if we're with our kids or with a friend or with a spouse, we say, you get in that line, I'm gonna get in this line. Because here's the thing, if we try to guess what staying in line is going to do and we have— and we're the only person, we risk losing our place. If you've lost the place, that's okay, get back in line. Sometimes you do quit. Sometimes it's time to quit, but you— but I think you'll know there's a difference in quitting from discouragement and quitting from exasperation and quitting from laziness than quitting because the Lord is telling you to do something different. If he is telling you to get in another line, like, you know how if you're in the line and the lines are long and then you have a cashier that opens up, they turn on their light and they say, I can take the next customer over here. Unless there is a clear call, get out of this line and go over here because God has created a path. It's like the Egyptians getting out of Egypt. They were there doing what they were supposed to do, and then God said, all right, put the blood on the doorpost, it's time to go. And then they left and got to the Red Sea, and they were like, wait a minute, line closed. He said, oh no, it's open. Hold on just a minute, Moses, stretch your hands out. Sometimes God creates another lane, and when he creates another lane, if you're walking with him, you will know. I'm not talking to you if you had to change lanes because God told you to do something different. I'm not telling you that. I'm saying when you are wanting to quit because of exasperation, when you are tired, when you are— when you depend on other people and those people aren't doing what you need them to do in order for you to get where you want to go, when you are Totally thrown off course because something in life happens to you, you did not expect it, and it delays your thought, your vision, your desire 1 year, 5 years, or 10. That's what I'm talking about, where because you got off course, you got out of the chair. I'm saying get back in the chair. Just keep sitting in the chair and you may barely be able to sit into it. You may barely, barely be able to hang in there. I'm saying you get up and on every Monday morning, y'all, I come in this chair and I sit down. I sit down and there are some days where I don't know what I'm talking about. And then there are other days where I'm very prepared, but what I don't not do is sit in the chair. So today I want to celebrate the fact that I've had the blessing and the opportunity of sitting in this chair for 10 years. Not this chair. It wasn't a yellow chair. The chair used to be an IKEA office chair that I still have that made it over to this house, um, that was sitting in front of an IKEA— no, an Elfa desk. Sitting in the corner of my guest bedroom of a house we were renting, in front of a brown door. I was in front of a brown door because that was better than being with my room in the background, because ain't nobody got time to make up their bed. So I was like, if I just stand in front of the brown door, y'all— I had, um, a camera I bought from, from Costco, um, And I sat in that chair very uncomfortable because I literally was squeezed into a corner of the room so that you wouldn't see my TV, so that you wouldn't see my bed, that you would only see the brown door. Let me tell you something. I ran an event in 2020 in front of a brown door. A thousand women showed up online for an online event in front of a brown door. Because if you'll just sit down in whatever chair you're supposed to sit in and use whatever you have, I think God blesses that. He doesn't bless you having it all together. He blesses you using what you have. So if you feel today that you haven't been sitting in the chair, you miss sitting in the chair, or is it worth you sitting in the chair? There are some of y'all that have been doing some things for 20 years or 30 years. I've been a mom for 30-something years. You know, I've been a wife for 20-something years. I've been a pastor's daughter for 50-something years. But most of those things I'm not going to change. This I could change. This I could give up on. Because who really cares? And I could tell myself things like, if I stop podcasting, if I stop sharing on YouTube, if I stop putting out content, if I burn it all down, Shawna knows, they'll find someone else to follow. And you will. They'll find someone else to listen to on a podcast. They'll read someone else's book. That's not bad. You can tell yourself that, and it might be true, but that's not the measure of whether or not you sit in the chair. The measure of whether you sit in the chair or not is, are you supposed to be doing it? When you do it, do you feel the pleasure of God at your back like a wind? When you do it, are you a little encouraged, like, well, maybe this was good? Because what the enemy will do is try to sit you from sitting in the chair, because he knows if he can keep you from sitting in the chair, he can keep you from experiencing the reminder of why you're doing it. Sometimes showing up is all you need to do to keep the fire burning. That wasn't even what I wanted to talk about. Let me tell you a few things, and then I'm going to talk about what I want to talk about. 8:30. See, I'm still on— I'm still on task. Don't forget to let me pray for you. Don't forget to let me pray for you. I'm gonna pray for you before I get off, okay? There are a few things that— this is free. Somebody say free. Let's do it again. Do it louder.
Free!
There she is in the background. And I still have a water stain right here. It's just a water stain. Okay, y'all, let me share my screen with you for a hot second because there are some things you need to know about. Number one, numero uno, this is free. Praise the Lord, saints. Praise the Lord, aints, as our friend Jackie Hill Perry would say. This is free. You can go to, um, Chrystal Hurst Hurst/moms gift guide. Okay, forward slash moms gift guide. Trying to put this in the right place where I want it. Okay, this is a Mother's Day gift guide that we put together so that you can have ideas for what to get your mother for Mother's Day. Let me tell you what you don't want to do. Do not, and I repeat, do not go to the store on Sunday morning at 9 AM on your way to church and pick up some picked-over flowers with whatever cards were left on the shelf. It is Monday. You have a whole week to get the best of the best picks for the cards and to do some actual thoughtful giving. So if you are like, I'm not a thoughtful gifter, this is why this is free. So go get it, okay? Inner Circle— I mean, if you're on my email list, I already gave it to you. But if you are on my email list and missed it, you can go to chrystalevanshurst.com/moms-gift-guide to get it. If you're not on my email list, you should get on it, but you can also go to chrystalevanshurst.com/moms-gift-guide. So that's number one. That's one thing I need to tell you about. The second thing that I need to tell you about is there are those of you who are like, oh my gosh, Chrystal, when are you gonna— when are you gonna do what you're gonna do? So we have a communicator. So I started coaching because there are people that tell me I'm a coach, even though I don't want to say that. I feel like I ought to pay a million dollars to go get a coaching certificate before I can say that. But anyway, I am a coach. You want to know why I'm going to say that? Here's why. Because I have officially done my first coaching cohort. There were 12 women. They have calling themselves the original 12 disciples. And we were, we met, it was supposed to be every other week and I felt like I couldn't leave them. So we met every week on Zoom for, um, almost 4 months. And then we met in person after that as a capstone. Um, it was for leaders. Those women are amazing. And I am so, so very excited to see how they have grown. All I'm doing is bringing what I know to the table.. And then, you know, I like to ask hard questions, not hard. I like to ask thoughtful introspective questions. I like to put people in the hot seat and to watch their confidence grow and watch what they're doing as a result of the being in the cohort. I'm really excited. So we're gonna do this again, but the next cohort is gonna be for communicators. So if you are a speaker, a writer, a podcaster, um, you wanna make sure you're on my email list. Applications will open on May 16th. And we have to have applications because, um, we only want to do 12. And what we do is we try to get a group of women together to, um, that not only are good fit for what I know I can give them but are a good fit for each other. And so there'll be an application that'll go live on May the 16th. So you want to make sure you're on my email list. And also today we're going to send out in the email that we send out today a way for you to sign up for a— we're gonna do a communicator's mini-course basically via email that's free. So we'll be putting that out for you, and you'll click— even if you're on my email list, you'll have to click to tell me, yeah, Chrystal, I want that from you. You know, what do you know about clearly communicating a message? And what do you know about clearly understanding your avatar and all these different things? And how do you— how the heck do you monetize? Does it. So there's lots of opportunities for me to teach and for me to share what I know with you. But May 16th, Communicators Cohort, that'll be the next opportunity to have me show up as a coach for some of you. Okay, let me make sure I'm not forgetting any of my announcements. Oh, announcements, announcements, announcements. Shh, it is a good time. This is not on my list, but I'm gonna say it anyway. It is a good time. It's May. If you do not have your planner, where is this? Here you go. You can go to thesistercircle.com/planner, actually. And there's multiple options. There's a digital option. There's an annual bundle. Right now we are on our, it's, we're about to go into Q3. But you can use any of these for any purpose, but Q3 is the one, especially if you have it, girls. This is the one that the questions come from every month, right? So here's the question for today. Oh shucks. Oh Lord.
You know what?
I don't even know if I have the right one here.
Will you get it for me? There's in the closet up there. Thank you. There should be a whole new fresh stack up there. While we're getting that, I want to go ahead and let's talk top 3s. All right, y'all, you know what to do if you're in the Inner Circle, uh, Community Coffee or connection level top 3s. Let me share my top 3 with you. I want you to go ahead and start sharing your top 3s in the chat, whether you are in the Inner Circle, whether you are, um, uh, just sitting here And you're like, what? Focus, focus. Okay, here are my top 3s. You did— you sent it to me, didn't you? I did airdrop it.
Here it is.
It's way down here. Wait, is this the right one? You need to airdrop it again? No. Yeah, I thought I accepted it. We have all kinds of fun happening this morning, but go ahead. What are your top 3s for the month? This is the thing that no matter what, you're like, I'm gonna focus on these for the month. And here's why, Inner Circle girls, it's super important for you to do this. And I put mine on my phone the last time, and, um, oh my gosh, it made such a difference. I mean, I always am looking at them, but I put it on my phone, which made it impossible for me to miss. Every time I opened up my phone, I saw my top 3. Let me drag this over here so y'all can see mine. All right, here it comes. There, these are my top 3 for the month. So what I did is I downloaded the monthly phone background. I downloaded this one right here, and then I put it in my phone and I added the words onto it. Okay, that's the one I did. But these are my top 3. So my top 3 for the month are to declutter my office. It's a disaster in there. It's really scary. It is to— thank you, you can take it out for me— pursue a passion project. And the reason why I put pursue a passion project is because I really don't know which one I want to pursue, and it might be multiple. So I will be getting back to my piano lessons. And I also, um, I'm gonna play around on YouTube a little bit. I think I'm going to try my hand at doing some things that I have not done consistently in the past. And, uh, yeah, so y'all might see some different things showing up on YouTube because how all of this got started is I was having fun. So my question for myself is, Chrystal Hurst, what will make this fun? Because now, you know, it's a little bit of a job. I'm glad that I have a job I enjoy. But if, if you don't have something about your job that excites you, then you got to bring it back. You got to bring back the fun. And there's a lot I do enjoy, but learning and trying new things is what really, really, really makes me excited. So I want to play. I want to fix some things. All right, here is the question for the month? Oh, this is the perfect question for what I want to talk about today. All right, this is the Inner Circle. This is the, uh, what is this called? Lord Jesus, this is the sister— what is it? It's the Full Circle Planner, which I may be wanting to rename that soon. I know it's bubbling up, it's coming. Okay, so this is the quote for the month: something changes when you focus on the finish.
Huh?
What?
Full screen?
What full screen? Oh yeah, I know, I know. So I'll, I'll do it again in a minute. Thank you. Let me go back here because this is what I want y'all to see. Your May top 3, and there's mine. So here's mine: declutter my office, pursue a passion project, get back to spin. This is my favorite thing. I can walk and I want to walk consistently. But I have fun with spin, so I'm gonna get back to spin. And, um, those are my 3. I'm still gonna work out 5 times a week, but one of those things I'm doing needs to be spin. Those are my top 3. Let me read some of y'all's top 3. Come on, write it down. There is power. Something happens when you write it down, even if you just put it in the chat. All right, Calvania: declutter the grandchildren's area and the guest room. Write chapter 5. Come on, chapter 5. Of my book, reset my exercise routine. Lydia, complete the 36-hour PMP. Come on, Project Management Professional, and complete and submit an application to take the exam. Exercise 30 minutes, 5 days a week. Very good. Charlene said, I'm going to declutter, organize my closet and spare bedroom, more time in the word and prayer, intentional time in something for my mental wellness. You know what you meant. Dolores, declutter. Declutter what? We got to be specific. Organize what? Stay consistent with my health. What does it look like to stay consistent? Being strength— begin strength training again. Continue to create printables and content. Very good. Begin decluttering. All right, Miss Brenda, write 2 new lessons for jail ministry. Come on, jail ministry. Declutter the family room and plant flowers outside. I love it. Work on my budget for the month of June. Write for 30 minutes a day in the chair. Put your butt in the chair. Schedule business social media content. I love this, y'all. I love it. I love it. I love it. Hey, Michelle, plan a girlfriend's day. That's fun. Decide and holding on to decide about holding on to my personal training certification, draft a program and a workshop for the fall that reminds me to add it to my desktop. So here's what you need to do. Whatever you're writing down, put it somewhere where you can see it. If you're like, I don't have the graphic right now, Chrystal Hurst, that's okay. If you're in the inner circle, that's okay. Just write it down somewhere. If you're not in the inner circle, you're like, I can't get the graphic. That's okay. Put it on a sticky note, slap it on your computer, put it on the front of something, put it on an index card, tape it to your mirror, write it with an Expo marker somewhere. What I can tell you with certainty is if you will write the things down that you want to do, that if you will be specific and measurable, make sure it's achievable, realistic, and time-bound, that your goals are SMART. Don't forget to have goals for fun and enjoying your life. If you will put them in front of you, your brain will be on it. And if your brain is on it, your brain will agree with you to do it because it won't let you release it. You'll be like, this is what I said I'm gonna do. So go ahead and keep putting them in the chat as a way to commit, and then write it down. Okay, write it down. Here's the question for the month, and then I'm going to say what I have to say. So if you have your planner, y'all, this is the Thrive, the third quarter book. Okay. And it says, where is your focus set? Are you set on your past failures or are you focused on where you want to end up? Set your focus on your finish line and notice how you move forward. So the first step to setting your focus on the finish line is to decide what the finish line is. So what is your focus currently on? So before I ask you that question, what have you been thinking a lot about? What have you been thinking about? Not, not, not what your finish is. I want to know what have you been focused on. So I can, I confess this morning what I'd be focused on. I am focused on, I am focused on, I can be honest, I can focus on the fact that there are some things I would have liked to see by now in the Sister Circle. Um, I can focus on the fact that that I have some barriers that I need to deal with in relationship to some things I want to do with the Sister Circle. I can tell you that I would have hoped that we would have achieved some financial goals that would have allowed me to hire some people that can make some of those Sister Circle goals happen. Um, I can tell you that I have been focused on how I need to grow as a leader, and maybe some of the things that have happened organizationally could have been avoided if I was a better leader. I can tell you that I've been focused on Oh, how there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day. And today what I did is I shifted my focus to the finish line. The finish line for me is 10 years today. Let's celebrate that and keep sitting in the chair. The finish line is God knows the timing, Chrystal. You just show up and you're obedient. The finish line is it's God's vision, Chrystal. You have to trust that he will bring about the vision that he— because he says in Philippians 1:6 that he will finish the work that he started in you. He may not even use you to finish it, like David and Solomon. David wanted to build the temple, his son had to do it. My point is, that was what I was focused on— what has not happened, or what my failures have been, or what my struggles have been related to work. Related to work. There are a lot of things that I've talked about, a lot of ideas that are not done And I have been very discouraged about that. So I've been discouraged about that, and that's my confession. What's your confession? Anybody else want to confess? That's gonna be like, no, I don't want to confess. Michelle said, I am focusing on setting aside my big dream to practically helping widows and widowers where they are now. Okay, I love that. Amy said, he may not use you to finish it. That's a thought. It's truth.
It's truth.
While I'm giving you a chance to put your— what are you focusing on? Like, not your 3 things. You can keep putting those in, but don't forget, I want to know about what you have been focused on. Tell yourself the truth. What have you been focused on? I want to make sure that you are aware, a couple more things, that the Sister Circle Retreat is coming October. Uh-oh, let me make this smaller. October of 2024. We'd love for you to come. And I know, I know that gas is high and groceries are stupid. I understand. And I know everybody can't do it. But for those of y'all who can, this year we'd love to do it in New York. So sign up so we know you're coming. And the purpose of this is to— hey, Amber Palmer. I love you, girl. The purpose of this is to allow you, if you need to get away— something happens when you set aside the time to get away. I can't explain it. Maybe someone who's in the chat who's been there can explain it. I don't know. I can't explain it. All I know is that when you set aside the time to show up, something happens. People have told me, ever since the retreat, this is what changed in my life. Ever since the retreat, this is what, this is what broke in my life. Ever since the retreat This is what I was able to do. I don't know, somebody else can explain it. Okay, here come the confessions. Jennifer says, I have been discouraged about my parents and budgeting abilities and accomplishments. I understand it.
I understand that.
I understand that you've been focused on, uh, self-mental care. Hey, Misty Wood from Bacala. I have been focused on disappointment about a client prospect. Yeah, I've been focused on building earring and bracelet inventory for sale. Fair enough. I have been focused on the challenges in my job, marriage, and family. My focus has been on what is for me to do. Why am I not moving? I've been focused on my gift and where I can serve in my church, within my family, also with a few women I personally know. I've been focused on not reaching my goals, paying off debt. I fell off track. I've been focused on finding a job rather than focusing on what he has called me to do. It's not the same. Monica Law says, I'm focused on my mental health and continuing to focus on growing closer to Jesus. Terry says, I'm very discouraged about where I am at work, my relationship with family and friends. I'm not where I thought I would be at this point in my life. All of the above. Spiritual growth, finance, and friendships. You have to be honest about what you've been focusing on to acknowledge that— do I actually want to put my energy there? Like, is that actually where I want to put my energy? So this is what happens when you use a tool of any kind. A blank book will work. Come on, focusing. Come on, focus. There you go. When you use a tool A blank book will work, but if you need prompting— that's why I do this, because I'm like, some people don't know what the questions are to ask. Because somehow when you put it on paper, you're like, ew, have I been focusing on that? That's not where I want to spend all my mental energy. I need to bring some new juice into the building. And then you can write down what you're choosing to focus on. So let's be honest about what we're focusing on. So here's, here's what I want to tell you. All right, we're ready. We're ready. Oh, I didn't even do any foolery. Okay, let me share a couple of quick foolery things, and then it's 8:18, then I'm gonna have to hurry up. Yes, that's two. All right, so let me share a little bit of foolery with you. Um, these may not be in order. This is me and the mister, y'all. Last week we got on another train ride and, um, we went from Chicago to California, 2 days on a train. Because the first time we rode the train, we rode it with Joel and we needed to do over. So we picked another train and enjoyed ourselves doing nothing, sitting around. We got a sleeper car. So that meant we were fed 3 times a day. And then we sat, this is us on the observation deck, going through the Colorado Rocky Mountains, 200 and some odd miles. Riding along the Colorado River. It's a little bit of adventure. It was fun. This is the kind of stuff we were looking at, y'all. It's May, and if you go up high enough and over the hill in the Rocky Mountains, guess what you're going to see? Snow on the ground. That's what you're going to see, snow on the ground. It was literally beautimus, beautiful. I think I have a video to show you so you can literally see the train in motion. Let me get it for you. Here it is. Here, here it go. Yeah, look at this stupidness. Look at how beautiful this is. So we're riding— this was in Utah. Yeah, and this is what we're seeing. Like, we're right on the edge of the cliff looking at this crazy beautifulness. So if you've never ridden a train, you should do it. You don't have to ride it for 2 days, but, but you can ride it. You could ride it from Denver to Utah and you can just do 5 hours and see beautiful scenery. So we did that. That was fun. I don't know if that's really foolery as much. I'm going to share this because I want you to laugh and I feel like I've been too serious this morning. So I want to give you at least one thing you can laugh at. At least one. And then I've been told that there are some videos that I need to share. Hold on. Let me pull this up. Let me pull it up. Let me pull it up.
Okay.
Do this.
Mm-hmm. And I'm going to share to AirDrop. Come on, baby. There you are.
All right.
You ready to hear it? Here it go. I got to turn on my system audio so you can hear it. All right. Hold on. It is just hilarious. And I want y'all to be able to hear it. Are y'all seeing this? When you plan the most perfect outfit in your head, but you didn't try it on until now, and you look like a potato, but you have only have 5 minutes before you have to leave. I'm just saying, has that ever happened to anybody? You legit thought this will work. This will work. And then you put it on. It's time to go to church. It's time to go to the banquet. It's time to be on stage. And you're like, do I look like an Oompa Loompa? This is what is happening. Okay. I just needed to bring a little laughter. That is, this is the situation. Jesus be a fence. Jesus be a fence. Okay, all right, so let me show you these other videos. Let me make sure my sound is on. Any particular order? The first three. The ICs are for the after party. Okay, so the first three that are not IC.
Okay.
Okay, here we go. Uh-oh, do I need tissue? Hold on.
10 years? Are you kidding me, Chrystal Hurst? Oh my goodness, happy anniversary to the— you and the Sister Circle. Wow, what an amazing accomplishment the last 10 years has been. Um, but I just feel like God's just warming up and he is just getting started with everything that he wants to do in and through you Chrystal. I always like— listen, I know you and I like hardly ever talk to each other and we never see each other in person, but like you are always front and center on my mind. And I'm always like, whatever Chrystal is putting out, whatever I can listen to from her, I'm learning, I'm leaning in. I can't wait. I'm always so excited to hear from you again online. And, uh, I'm just such a huge believer of you, Chrystal. And I just want to thank you for being a leader that, um, so many people can look to and say, she inspires me, she challenges me, she grows me. And I say all of those things about you today and every day. I love you, my friend, and I'm so proud of you. I can't wait to see what the next 10 years brings you. Happy anniversary!
Oh, here's another one.
Hey girl, I remember when we had the first conversation about you podcasting. Podcasting. Um, I got all the lessons about mics and sound and where you would podcast and some of the subjects that matter, uh, some of the subjects that you would talk about. Um, I remember that day so vividly. We were at lunch. Um, but I never, not one second thought that you wouldn't be successful. So now we, now we're here 10 years later and I just want to say congratulations. You are wonderful and smart and all the things, but mostly you are curious. And I think that's why it's been so successful, because you're always curious about life and people and things and asking the why and how. So 10 years down and many more to go. I wish you well. I love you very, very, very much, and thank you for having me along for your journey. I love you.
Okay, so the first person, if you don't know who that is, her name is Nikki Cozyars. You should follow her. You should look and listen to all the things she does because she's amazing. And then the second person is Inner Circle Blood. She's Shundria Riddick. You should follow her. She's a counselor extraordinaire. And both of these women have been on the podcast multiple times or taught in the, um, in the Sister Circle things that we do. So I love them dearly. Here's one more. Aww, so sweet.
Chrystal Hurst, 10 years. How did 10 years come and go so fast? It's unbelievable. I congratulate you. Your little sister is congratulating you because I've seen firsthand the amount of work that you've put in, the amount of tenacity you've shown, the many early mornings that you've gotten up, the resilience that you've had, the creativity. Honestly, the creativity and the innovation that you have had to continue to produce day after day, week after week, to lead into 10 solid years of a podcast that's blessed people, encouraged people, made people laugh hysterically and cry and emote and feel and think about the practical rhythms of their everyday life. And you know, I tell you that often, like the practicality that you've been able to share through these podcasts and through your whole ministry, it really is unmatched. And I respect you highly and admire you highly because of that. So congratulations to you. I will always admire you as my older sister and a leader to me. You're a leader, and you exemplify so many of the things that I hope to as well. Congratulations, Chrissy. I'll always be on your side.
No, it's still, uh, yay! So I, um, one of my favorite things, y'all, is bringing along for the ride other people. I feel like I don't need to tell y'all to follow Priscilla Shire, but just in case, literally just in case, that's what I'm about to do. And then I'm gonna Here's the screaming lady again. Hold on. Nikki Koziarz. I'm going to make sure y'all have— here she is. This is her website. And this is how you spell her name. Okay. N-I-C-K-I-K-O-Z-I-A-R-Z. And this is her website. Let's see. I'm gonna let— you want to put it in the chat for me? Okay. And then Shandria Riddick, because these are people you should know. What? Okay, okay.
Yay!
That's Shandria's website. And then Priscilla Shire. Shire! Don't tell her I said that. Going Beyond Ministries, or goingbeyond.com. There you go. So there you go, follow them on all the places. Okay, here's what I want to say, here's what I want to say. If you go to my website, which is in dire need of redoing, it is, it's just, it's been 10 years. This website, this website This website, um, is 10 years old. We've changed the banner, but basically it's— we haven't really changed much. So when you go to the top, it says join the Inner Circle. Oh, that's what I needed to tell you. The Inner Circle will be opening up, y'all, in June because we're going to do something fun for June, July, and August called Summer of Sisters, and we want you to be able to get in on that. And then we won't open again until the end of the year. So there will be a time where the Inner Circle is open. So if you've been like Hello, is this thing on? Can you let me in? It's coming, so pay attention. But if you go here and then you hover over read, listen, watch, you'll click read right here. Read takes you to my blog.
Okay.
And so sometimes I write, sometimes I read. And right here on the side somewhere, there's my categories. Let me zoom in right here. Faith, Family, Food, Fitness, Fun, and Focus. So here's what I want to tell you. 10 years ago when I started the podcast, I had to— no, hold on, I didn't do my paper and I don't— I have this in my ear. Hold on, hold on, take that sip. Okay, so I wanted to show y'all this. So now you can see this is what's on my, on my website today, on the blog, on the side. Okay. All right, so let me go full screen and then say what I want to say. I might have to go a little over 8:30. Just a little. Okay. Y'all, I've been podcasting for 10 years, and I mean the true podcasting, like the one that you listen to, not the one you see. I have been seen by y'all for the last 5 years or so, but 10 years total in the game. And there are a few things I've learned about being consistent, being faithful, and being focused. And I want to talk to you about all that today. You see what I did there? You see how I did that intro? Cut that out. All right, so here we go. So if you're new here, my name is Chrystal Hurst, and you're probably watching me on YouTube, or maybe you're watching me on Facebook, or you could be listening to this on Apple Podcasts, Pandora, Spotify, wherever. But you're getting this somehow, some way, somewhere, and somebody may have even shared this with you and said, girl, you need to listen to that. Okay, but here's why they're telling you to do that. I've been podcasting for 10 years and Reflecting on that this week has me thinking about one thing, one thing, and I want to tell you what that one thing is, and I want to tell you about how that one thing can change your life. And then don't let me forget, before I finish, I need to pray for you. 10 years ago when I started my podcast, I had an over-the-head microphone set. I borrowed it from my kids. They were taking Rosetta Stone, and I was like, unplug that, I need that for my podcast. And I recorded it probably in GarageBand or QuickTime Player on my Mac, nothing fancy. And then I was like, now how do I get this up? And the friend of the team, a young lady by the name of Shonda Stagall, who had started a podcast or two in the past, she helped me the night before the podcast was supposed to go live. She helped me to get it up. I was like, I gotta get it up. I told all the people I'm gonna get it up. And we sat there at midnight trying to get these podcasts to go live, to create my RSS feed and to make sure I was distributing it in all the right places and to make sure that I was hosting my podcast at the right location. And can people actually hear it and all of that? Do I have a cover graphic? It was just a mess. But by golly, I said I was going to get it up and I did. And that first week I put out 4 episodes because back then, I don't know if it's true now, but you were told that you don't want to just put one episode up. You want to put bingeable content down so that way people will listen to a whole bunch of your content and then it'll put you up in the high top whatevers because a bunch of people are listening to your stuff. So I didn't just put out one, put out four. And the first podcast, which now you can listen to, it's actually just released on YouTube and we re-released it on the podcast. I talked about the 4 Fs. What are the 4 Fs? They are faith, family and friends, food and fitness, and fun. That's what I wanted to talk about. I'd come from being a mommy blogger, talking about my days baking bread, changing cloth diapers, homeschooling. But I also like to talk about my faith and growing in faith, learning to hear from God. I wanted to talk about food and fitness because losing weight for my whole life is a topic. Okay. The same 40 pounds up and down. We are friends. We are fast friends. Um, and then fun because I wanted to have fun. I wanted to work at having fun. Fun is— I'm a worker. I'm not a funner. And so I have to intentionally say, I'm going to have fun. I'm going to laugh. I'm going to play. I'm going to do things that are different. But sooner or later, and I don't know when sooner or later actually came, I added an F. And if you go on my website right now and look at my blog, you'll see those 4 categories followed by a 5th one. And that 5th category is focus. And there are a bunch of other things that fall in that category, but I realized that every time I wanted to talk about getting your finances together, that didn't go in the other 4 categories. Every time I wanted to talk about goal setting that didn't go in the other categories. When I wanted to talk about how to uplevel yourself professionally in your career, that didn't go in those other categories. When I wanted to talk about mental health and being emotional— emotionally stable and emotionally okay, that didn't go in those other categories really. When I wanted to talk about, um, um, anything else that wasn't about Jesus, wasn't about your marriage and friendships, wasn't about food and working out, and wasn't about having a good time, I didn't have anywhere to put it. So I added the fifth F, which is focus. So focus has a lot of things in there, y'all. It basically holds every other thing that I want to talk about. And many of the things that holistically, when I get your feedback, and I'm grateful for so many of y'all who tell me what the feedback needs to be, we put it in there. But focus is more than just the fifth category. It is the area that holds— I got a big white thing right here, and I can't even find it because— here, let me just pull it right there— because we make our life about, often, those 3 things. Do I love Jesus? I want to get married. I want to be a good mom. I want to make sure I'm healthy. And then I want to enjoy my life. But then there's all these other things that that we want to focus on that comprise us living a life that's well. We want to volunteer. We want to show up in our community. We want to make sure that we are learning and growing. We want to make sure that our finances are in order. We want to make sure that we're able to, um, to, to educate ourselves. There's all these other things that we can put into our lives and those go in that area. Here's what I want to say about focus though, more than the fact that it's the fifth F. The important thing for you to notice is that I didn't start out with the fifth F. I didn't start out with a membership in mind. I didn't start out with a planner in mind. I didn't start out with a team in mind. I didn't start out with official Sister Circle offices in mind. I didn't start out with the Sister Circle website in mind. I didn't start out with— learning how to, or remembering, because I'm an accounting finance person, remembering how to review my P&Ls, to look at my margins, to make sure that I'm running a business well. I wasn't looking at developing my leadership capacity. I wasn't looking at being a speaker. I wasn't looking at being a multi-published author. I was not looking at being looked at by some as a coach. I was not looking at any of those things. I was looking at I just wanna speak sometimes instead of write, and I wanna show up and I wanna be consistent, and I wanna focus on that. And for a season of my life, I have been focusing on communicating in public social media and distributable media spaces. I've been a content creator. That was not what I was thinking I was gonna do, but I have been focusing on that. And because I've been focused on that, I've had a lot of opportunities to grow, to develop, and teach others. This is what happens when you pick your 4. God adds 5. He adds a 5th. There is and there will always be an evolution of your dream or of your task or of your finish line, because whatever you have in mind for yourself, God will add to it. And we don't know that in advance when we start. We, we don't know that when you got married and then you were planning to have children, that one of your children would be special needs and that you would be now head over a special needs ministry because that's what God put in your path. You didn't know that when you started out in this one career that God, 10 years later, 15 years later, 25 years later, was going to total pivot you into a second career that you didn't even see coming. You didn't know that. You didn't know that in one season of your life, what you developed God would use in another season of your life. I did not think that my curiosity— as one of my friends has told me, the reason why I get to do all the things I get to do is because I'm curious. I didn't think that my curiosity— mainly because, y'all, I had to do it all myself. There was no podcasting team. There was no husband who did technical stuff. There was no friend who showed up and did it for me. I had to figure it out. And I didn't think that when I had to figure it out, that years later that people would say, Chrystal, can you show me how you figured it out? Can you teach me how to get my podcast up, how to get my book written, how to run a marketing campaign? I had somebody ask me how to run a marketing campaign, but I'll never forget one year I was sitting with my mother and my brother called and he said, hey Chrystal, who ran your marketing campaign for She's Still There? And I said, "Me?" He said, "Can I— did you write it down?" And I said, "Yes." He said, "Can I get a copy of it?" And out of the corner of my eye, my mother says, "No." She shakes her head. She runs her hand across her neck and she says, "No." And I'm just looking at her like, "Why wouldn't you want me to give this to my brother?" So I said, "Well, I don't know, let me fool around and then I'll see if I can give it, find it. I was stumbling over my words. I hang up the phone and my mother said, he's not asking you for that. His publisher is asking you for that. So don't give it to him. If they want it, they can pay you for it. And I'm like, but mom, all I have written down is like the list of things that I did. She said, "Yeah, huh?" People pay for that. Recognize your value and recognize what you have in your hand. Moses, in Exodus chapter 3, God shows up in 3, verse 10, and he says, "I want you to come now, tell Pharaoh to let my people go so that my people can come out of Egypt." Moses had all these questions. He was like, "Are you sure? Because I don't really talk well. Are you sure? Because, you know, I'm a murderer. Are you sure? Because do you know that that I was running for my life? Are you sure? How are they gonna listen to me? Like, I used to be the prince of Egypt, but now I'm just a humble shepherd. Are you sure? Are you sure? Because let me tell you what Moses thought about his life. He thought he was the prince of Egypt, then he committed murder. God shut that down. He thought he was gonna be a shepherd over sheep, and he was for 40 years. God shut that down. And at 80 years old, God added to his resume. He said, you weren't planning on this. You weren't planning on leading the people. You weren't planning on getting them out of Egypt. You weren't planning on redeeming yourself as a leader, but the whole time, this is what I had in mind. I'm gonna use— Romans 8:28— everything that's happened in your life for my glory. When you think about it, Moses was half Egyptian in his upbringing and half Hebrew in his racial origin. And who else better to have the keys to the back door of Pharaoh's house? He was raised there. And who else better to be able to lead the Hebrews because he was one of them. The whole time God was like, I'm gonna add something to your resume. God is always going to add something to your resume. He's always going to add a fifth F. He's always going to add something that you did not see coming and that you don't feel like you know how to steward, and that you're stumbling about trying to figure out what to do with it. And sometimes you end up there because it's a passion. Sometimes you end up there because you're solving a problem. Sometimes you end up there because there are people that calling that you feel called to, or people that you want to help. But there'll be something that puts you further beyond where you intended to go. And here's the worst thing that you can do, is to not add that fifth F to the page because you haven't figured out how to define it. You don't know what is all— it's all about. When I added focus is because I just needed another F because there were all these other things that I wanted to talk about. And I kept trying to figure out how to add other things, and I was like, it's just focus. People ask me, what does that mean? What do I say? I'm not sure, but I'm just going to add it to the page. God is going to add something in your life for you to focus on. It's going to be the evolution of you. You need to understand and look for the evolution of you. You need to believe that whatever God allowed in your life cause to happen or allowed you to hold in your hand, whether it's been good, bad, or ugly, it is a part of the evolution of you. And you have to be committed to doing the next thing. The reason why my brother was asking me for my marketing plan was because She's Still There sold 100,000 copies in 9 months. This book is now, what, 7 years old? 100,000 copies in 9 months.
I didn't know.
I didn't know if that was good or bad. I, the, the— I remember going to one of the marketing meetings and the publisher said, well, we, we think we should shoot for 25,000 copies. What do you think? You think that's fair? I said, sure, sounds fair to me. I did not know until later that most authors don't sell more than 5,000 copies of their books. 80% of authors do not sell more than 5,000 copies of their book. So I didn't know that he had given me a high barrier. I just know you told me what it is that would make an A. I'm an achiever, firstborn. What's an A? 25,000. Okay, I gotta figure out how to, how to get to 25,000 books. When I wrote Kingdom Woman with my dad— my dad does not have a launch for his books, he doesn't have a book tour, he doesn't do all that— and when I wrote Kingdom Woman with my dad, I remember asking the publishers So how do we— what are we doing in launches? We're getting a launch team together, are we? And they were like, no, you know, your dad doesn't really do that. I was like, well, can I do it? And I remembered when I wrote She's Still There what it was like to not have a marketing plan, at least the kind of marketing plan I thought I should have. That he don't need it, he sells hundreds of thousands of books without it. But I was a new author. I wanted with Kingdom Woman to have a strong marketing plan. So when I got to She's Still There, I was like, I want a strong marketing plan. So you want to know why I know how to launch a book? You want to know why one day there might be a marketing agency in my dreams? There's so many dreams that I have because there was a problem to solve. So now if somebody says, Chrystal Hurst, do you have something to teach about marketing? Not yet, but I will. And where will that go? Under Focus. I didn't know when I started the podcast 10 years ago that I'd have a marketing plan. I didn't know when I started the podcast 10 years ago that I'd have a book that sold as many copies as it did. I did not know 10 years when I did that that I would have a light hanging over me and I'd have an amazing screen and I'd have a teleprompter right here if I need to use it. I was using an old broke-down MacBook that in 2020 when I started trying to go live, y'all, it started choking. Because it couldn't handle it. It would shut down in the middle, and then I would say, okay, y'all, if it shuts down, just know I'll come right back. Like, that's what we were doing out here in these streets, shutting down. Then I thought I was gonna break my bank when I was like, if I'm gonna keep doing these lives, I'm gonna have to buy another computer. She's still sitting right here. She now chokes sometimes because it's been 5 years. God is gonna always add something for you to focus on that you did not plan on focusing on. And this is the evolution of you. And because Philippians 1:6 does say he will start what he finishes, there is, if you are still breathing, something else for you to do, something more for you to do where you already are at. But if you don't believe that, or if you stop believing it because there are barriers, because somebody else is doing it or copying you, if you become defeated because before you actually go into the promised land, you get dissuaded by the giants that are in the land, if nobody has done it before you, or somebody does it better than you, or somebody has more resources than you. If, if, if you look around and you're thinking, how am I going to evolve into the next stage of life when I don't know how, or I don't have money, or I don't have resources, or I don't have connections, or I look and I am discouraged by what I see other people doing because they have what I don't have, or maybe they don't have the challenges that I have in my life. That make it difficult for me to do the things that I do. If you talk yourself out of the very thing that God is trying to talk you into, you will pause or you will stop the evolution of you. He is committed to your growth. God is committed to your development. He is committed to doing big things in your life. He is committed to the legacy of your life being a pebble in a river that has echoes of ripples far beyond your time. He is interested in you having an impact wherever you live, work, and have your being. But what will stop you from having an impact is if he wants to add something in your life that you did not see coming. And he's always gonna stretch you, and he's always gonna ask you to do something you don't know how to do. And he's always going to put you in a situation where people may have thoughts about what you're doing or why you're doing it. Everybody's not on your team, or people that you think are on your team don't stay with you. It is going to be lonely when God is evolving your vision. You're going to feel crazy sometimes when you're wondering if you can do it. Those are actually, though, the signs of being exactly where you're supposed to be. Looking back after 10 years, I can tell you that there have been many times, one where I did crazy things, like 1,000 people on a conference online in the middle of COVID And we stitched together the systems that we had, which were not the systems that were best. We made it work. We stacked 3 different platforms because they were the ones I had and they were the ones I could afford. And people showed up. But there are a lot of times, y'all, and this is what makes me sad, that he tried to add some focused areas to my life and I said, I can't do it. Somebody else has already done it. Somebody else beat me to it. Somebody else is making it difficult for me to do it. My life won't allow me. There were giants in the land and I paused. There were giants in the land, and I paused, and then I watched somebody walk right by me and take the land. Stop starting over. Stop pausing for too long. Catch your breath, yeah, but get back in the race and let him add the things you didn't see coming. Focus is added because there were things I didn't know that I wanted to talk about. There were things I didn't know I wanted to deal with. There were things I didn't know that I wanted to share about. So I added an F to freely walk in the lane that was being provided. When you are running a race, which I have run my share of races, and you run a race that's longer, you stay in your lane only to a certain point. And then there becomes a point where you're running an 800 or a mile, 1600 meters, where you get out of your lane and you merge over and you hug the track closely because you're given the freedom to do that in a race that's designed for you to run it long game. Your life is designed for you to run it long game, and there are going to be some lanes that are given to you. What people told you, how you were raised, the degree that you got, who you're married to, where you live— they're going to be some lanes that are given. But there's a point in your life where you get to get out of your lane. You get to get out of the lane that was prescribed for you, and you get to be and do and run the race that you're supposed to run in this season. Aiming towards a finish line that's before you. And if you need to move out of that lane that you chose in order to pass someone, you can, and then you can get back in the lane that hugs the track. There is freedom once you get in the game and you have— you've passed the point where you have to stay in your lane. And if you're grown, you passed that point, my dear. Then you do whatever you have to do to aim to the finish line. And win. And that means cutting over, is what we used to call it. This is when you cut over. For some of you, you cut over and then somebody said, girl, what you doing? Get back in your lane. And you obeyed the person who didn't know the rules for your life. Some of you cut over and then you were intimidated by the other people that you were running with, and maybe the pace felt a little bit much. And so instead of increasing your pace and increasing your capacity, you move back over and said, maybe I should stay in this lane. When in reality you've been given the freedom to cut over, to cut in, to do it differently than you started. So you have permission to change. You have permission to choose. You have permission to cut in. There are a lot of things, y'all, I'm doing. I don't know what I'm doing. I have no business doing it, except why not? We got these planners. We got new planners coming out in 2025, the annuals, finally. And I gotta cut in. I don't know what I'm doing selling no planners. I don't know what I'm doing. Got another book to finish. We got coaching cohorts that happening. And when you cut in, you will be reminded that there's a pace to keep, and it may make you feel like you're a little out of breath. When I was training for the marathon back in 2014, 10 years ago, I, um, I learned that when you're going downhill, you put in a little more energy because you're going to get more bang for your buck. Gravity is helping you. So go ahead and make your strides wider and make your pace a little quicker so that when you hit the hills and you're going up, you can afford to make your stride a little shorter and slow down a little. Don't stop running. But you can increase or decrease your pace based on, based on the terrain. The terrain of your life is going to change and you have the freedom to increase or decrease your pace, but you don't stop running. When I trained for the marathon, I got tools added to my toolbox. I learned about goo. And how to keep my carb energy up. I learned about exactly when I should drink in the morning so that I could exactly time when I'd have to go to the bathroom during the race. I learned about which things, which sports bra was the best, and I learned about which one was kidding when it looked at the way God made me. I was like, I don't need to wear 3, y'all. I just need one good one. I learned about which actual, uh, running shorts and running tights were the best. I learned what skorts were. I got all these cute headbands. I learned about how to accessorize the race. And I learned how to look decent doing it. I learned about the shoes that I needed to wear for my body type and the way I stepped and all that. But none of that amazing information or none of those amazing tools would mean anything if I didn't actually run. And sometimes I had to run slower and sometimes I ran faster, but I was running. Some of y'all are spending too much time getting all the tools together. Getting all the information. You are taking a million workshops. You are getting, um, around people who know things, and none of that is bad, but run. Some of y'all are watching YouTube videos about it. You are downloading teachings about it. You signed up for coaching. Okay, that's great, but run. You've been hearing from God that he wants you to do certain things in your life. It's been 5 years in. You wrote it down 5 years ago. You got convicted about it last week in church and you're still like, is it me? Is it the right time? I'm not sure, God. Am I the one? I don't have this, I don't have that. It's time to run. And yeah, the terrain is going to change, and sometimes you're going to run slower and sometimes you're going to run faster, but run. Let him stretch your repertoire. I am not a runner. Until I ran. I was not a person with 5 Fs until I added focus. And I wasn't 10 years in until I showed up every week and turned on a microphone. It's your race. You have to run it. But in order to run it, You just have to put one foot in front of the other and do something slower some days, faster other days, but do something. Now, today I got some weight to lose. It's that season again. The friendly 40 has come to visit me. Um, but here's what I can tell you now. If I go out today, today, and I need to get back in shape, but today If I go out to run a mile, it's gonna kill me, but I can do it. Before, I used to say, "I can't run a mile." Now I understand what it is to breathe, and I understand what it is to be mind over matter, and I understand what it is to rise and to fall with my steps outside. And it may be a very slow run, and the walkers may pass me, but I developed the endurance mentally and physically to command my body to move. Move even when it feels like it doesn't want to. You want to know why I can do that? You want to know why a mile doesn't make me afraid even when I feel like, oh my gosh, I can't breathe? Is because even running the marathon, the first mile always felt that way. It always felt like I can't breathe and I want to quit. And then I would hit somewhere in the second mile, those endorphins would start flowing and I would get that runner's high. And I learned how to be a runner. You can learn how to add the F, how to evolve, and how to be a runner. And even when life and the terrain of your life says this is going to be harder than it normally is, you can learn to speed up. Or slow down, but never quit. And I've said many times, I'm gonna burn it all down.
I am.
And you may need to prune, and you may need to pause, and you may need to come up with a new plan. But until he says you reached your finish line, you're done, it's time to pass that on, It's time to have a succession plan. It's time to sell that business. It's time to graduate that last kid. It's time to retire. It's time to change your investment strategy until he tells you to do something different. Like my mother would always say, just do what he told you to do last. So this is me telling you to focus, focus. And me adding my 5 Fs and adding that 5th F to the mix. This is because none of the other things matter if you're not focused. So what I want you to do and remember about my 10 years, how do I, how do I, how did I get here and how do I keep going? Focus. How do you finish the race that you're supposed to finish? Focus. How do you set boundaries and know when to say no and know when to say yes?
Focus.
How do you not get distracted by all the things that are begging for your time? You write down what's important and you look at it and you focus on it. And everything else lies inside that word. I hope this has been encouraging to you. I'm grateful for having been around for 10 years, and I'm grateful that somewhere along the 10-year journey You showed up. But before I go, I just want to pray over you, if that's okay. God, I thank you for everybody who's watching this now live and for everyone who will watch it later. I thank you so much that they are here because they clicked on a link and decided for some period of time to focus on all the fun and foolery and the fun things I wanted to say. I ask that for each woman that's in the room that you would give her through the conviction and the power of the Holy Spirit right now as she's listening to my words, that her body would reverberate with the things she's supposed to focus on. And we know we are supposed to prioritize focusing on you, our relationship with you. And if she's not, let that be first. But if she's doing all the things, going to church, studying the Bible, maybe even saying a prayer or two, and her life is just a ball of unconnected, disconnected things, would you allow something to rise as the thing for this season she needs to focus on. Help us to be committed to the race and to cut over when needed. Help us not to be relegated to the lane other people said we should run in, so much so that we stay in that lane to our fault when you are calling us over to run a different kind of race in a different kind of season. And where we need encouragement for staying the course, give us that so that 5 years in, 2 years in, 20 years in, We know that we've been faithful. Cause if we have faith and we're not faithful, doesn't matter. We have friends and family and we're not faithful to those strong relationships. It doesn't matter if we know what to eat and don't eat it. If we don't work out and we know what we should do to move it, it doesn't matter. Consistency matters. Fun and having fun in our lives. Faithfulness matters. But more importantly, whatever you've given us to focus on, whatever is in our hands to do. Help us to agree with you about the evolution that you see that needs to happen. Help us to be faithful to the evolution of you, me, and us. And then help us to remember when we reach the milestones to celebrate. In Jesus' name we pray.
Amen.
