Being able to consistently hit shots off the dribble is a very difficult thing to do, but it's a skill that truly separates great offensive players from the rest. One of the biggest problems that I see is that players don't correctly work on their ability to shoot off the dribble. A lot of times players ignore training the most important qualities that it takes to be great at shooting off the dribble, such as balance, being able to pick the ball up smoothly, having clean and efficient footwork, shooting coming from different angles and and more. This workout focuses in all those things with the goal of giving you the tools to become a great player off the dribble. And make sure you guys click the top link in my description below to get another free shooting workout. Let's get into it. We're going to start off with perfection form shooting where you're going to start in between the first hash marks and you're going to be shooting the basketball, trying to switch every single shot, making sure your mechanics feel perfect and everything feels good. As soon as you get the set amount of makes for from the first hash marks, you're going to back up and go to the second hash marks. Do the same thing. The only makes that count are swishes. As soon as you have those, you're going to back up, go to the free throw line, do the same exact thing and then once you get those makes, you'll back up the three point line and finish it out there again. Only switches count. Next we're going to get into our turn warm up series. The first turn we're going to go through is a 90 degree turn where you're going to start chest facing either sideline. You're going to take a dribble and and you're going to hop so that you're now facing the basket before you go right into your jump shot there. Once you get the sentiment of makes facing that sideline, you're going to turn and face the opposite sideline, do the same exact thing. Once we finish that, we're going to go with our 180 degree turn so you'll be facing half court as you pound the basketball turn, face the basket and get your shot off that way. Next we're going to go with paint jumpers which allows you some freedom and some creativity to warm up close to the basket and also build your confidence by seeing that ball go in early. So be creative and switch up the type of shots that you shoot foreign. Next we're gonna go with these push out pull ups. You're going to start facing the side again with your shoulder to the basket. Whichever hand you're going to be dribbling with, that foot is going to be ahead of your other foot as well. You're going to take a dribble straight out, stepping 1, 2 into your jump shot, and then you're going to turn and square yourself in the air. All that means that you can take off with your chest still facing the sideline. But then as you jump to release your shot, that's when you turn and get squared to the basket. This works. Your ability to be a more adap comfortable shooter off the dribble. Being able to identify the rim quickly, being able to shoot, coming off of angles that might not be straight towards the rim. Also being able to shoot, your momentum is not taking you towards the rim. Games aren't perfect, so we shouldn't always train for perfect situations. The one other rule with this drill is that you have to change directions and you have to change spots on the floor after every single shot. So if you shoot a shot from the left side of the floor, you've got to go over to the right side. Go the opposite direction for your next rep for the dribble. Freestyle Cover ground pull up drill. Now we're going to go with a similar concept to our last drill, except this time you're going to start with your feet planted facing the basket, going into whatever sort of dribble freestyle you want to do. And then at some point, you're going to take one long dribble to get you to the elbow before you go into your pull up again, squaring up in the air. You want to pick a distance on the wing that really pushes you. If you want to make it to the elbow so that it's challenging. You can do this through a crossover between behind the back, but challenge yourself and how much ground you can cover. Foreign now we're going to go with our dribble pickup series. For the first shot in this series, you're going to go with a quick double move followed by a delayed pickup. So after this quick double move, you're going to hang this ball as long as possible, really slowing down your pace before then quickly getting into your shot. You want to think about that double move. Getting your defender to retreat and be on their heels before that delay also makes them think that you're going to drive. And then you quickly get into your shot as they're leaning back and they're hands are down. Really focus on changing your pace between that quick double Move that delay and then quick back into your shot again. The next variation of this drill is just going to be a quick double move right into a quick pickup. Notice how I'm not resetting my feet before the shot. I'm really trying to put pressure on my defender by getting into my shot as quickly and as efficiently as possible. And your footwork is key when it comes to that. And for the last shot, you're going to go with that quick double move again and into a delayed pickup. But before you pick it up, you're going to go with a quick single move right into your shot again. Again, making sure you really change your pace, going from really fast to slow to really fast again on that single move and then into your shot quickly. Really imagine you have that defender standing in front of you and you're really trying to throw them off with the timing of these pickups. Next, for the ball screen hop repeats, we're going to work your ability to shoot the ball coming off of a ball screen, getting quickly into a hop off of your inside foot. So as you see, I'm going to take first dribble, which is going to take me above the chair before I then take one more dribble, which is going to take me into that inside foot hop quickly into my three and we'll end it with around the arc float threes. So you're going to be getting into some sort of float dribble into a three coming off of any sort of combo as simple or complex as you want it to be. Every time you shoot a shot, you're going to relocate and go to a different spot on the floor, making sure you alternate going with your left side flow and the right side float foreign.
