Just ride me, baby. What's up, guys? Coach Ethan here today. I wanted to talk about how to increase your confidence as a shooter. Now, we all know when we're in a groove, right? Or you've seen somebody in a groove. For example, if you're watching the NBA and you see Steph Curry start to hit back to back threes, hits his third in a row, fourth in a row, you know the next time he's touching that ball, it's going up and you best believe it's going to go in too. It's commonly what we call getting hot, right? A shooter starts to make a couple shots and we say, oh, he's heating up or he's getting hot. That just means the shots are starting to fall and he's getting very confident in how he's playing. I'm sure you've experienced that as well, where you make a couple of shots and all of a sudden you feel like you're going to make everything. That's the type of confidence you want to have as a shooter as often as possible. We don't want to just leave this up to chance. Basically. We want to take it from being something that sporadically happens, something that's way more consistent so you can consistently feel confident and get in the zone as a shooter. So let's talk about how to do this if we think about what it means to be confident as a shooter. Typically what happens is you see some shots go, so you start to expect the next ones are going to go in. If you get in the game and your first two shots are makes, you're going to start feeling pretty good about the way you're going to shoot that game. This all goes back to us mentally. When we see shots go in, we feel more confident in our shot. So how can we get ourselves to feel confident every time we step on the floor? Here's what I want you to do. Before every workout, every practice, every game, shoot 50 shots inside the paint. It's as simple as that. This can be a combination of form shooting and actual jump shots that come from inside the paint. What this is going to do is it's going to allow you to see the ball go in a bunch of times in a row and you're going to have to expect that that's going to happen when you shoot the ball. Now I know you're going to think, well, when I get into games, I'm shooting from behind the three point line. It's just not the same. But the carryover mentally is what we're looking for, you're going to start to expect that shots are going to fall because in practice before games, you're going to see that ball go in over and over and over again. That's what you're going to expect. When game time gets here, it goes back to the importance of warming up. But specifically, I want you guys to try this 50 shot drill when you start every practice and every if possible. And I guarantee once you guys start to see the shots go in, you're gonna feel way more confident when you step on the floor for game time.
