What's up everybody? Coach Ethan Today we're going to go through a finishing workout. You guys can do this anywhere. At home, at a park, anywhere. You guys have a basket. This workout we're going to focus on a bunch of different types of finishes, different angles, one foot, two foot. We're also going to go over a couple different post moves. And even if you're a guard, really go hard work on your post game here you're going to have opportunities where you can post up smaller players. And if you can hit these moves effectively, you're going to going to be very, very difficult to guard, especially if you also have perimeter skills. So this finishing workout is for everybody. I want you guys to make sure you're going game speed the whole time. I just finish it. I'm tired, out of breath, pushing myself. This is where we get better working our conditioning while everybody else is sitting around doing nothing. We're improving our skills and our conditioning. We're going to be ready to go. This is where we really separate who's who. Guys, if you're willing to dedicate just a few minutes per day to stuff like this, you're going to pass a lot of people who aren't doing anything right now. You're going to you combine this finishing workout with one of my ball handling workouts as well. You guys are going to be on your way to passing a lot of people.
Let's get into it. All right, guys, we're going to start off with some forward facing Mikins. So notice here we're going off one foot every time and as soon as that ball gets through the net, I'm stepping across to my inside foot to the other side. No wasted movements, only essential steps. I'm keeping that ball nice and high, not dipping it below my chest. Here we're going with that reverse. They're just basically turning around. Same thing, one foot stepping across every time when I catch it, keeping that ball nice and high. Now we're going to do our all right hand finishing. So it's a lot like Miken's where I'm switching sides every time, but I'm using my right hand for every finish. And as you see here, I'm being very creative with my finishes. This is your opportunity to be creative and to have fun with it. Really imagine yourself in a game for every single one of these finishes. Great finishers are able to finish an variety of different ways, different angles and that's the skill we're trying to target right here. Now we're going with our Left hand, finishing on both sides of the basket, being creative. Like I was saying before, guys, the best finishers are the ones who can finish from different angles with different finishes on both sides of the basket with either hand. The guys who can be creative around the rim, that's where you want to get to. That's how you become a great finisher. So again, really targeting this, making sure we throw in your see some shot fakes right here. Again, gameless situations. Picture yourself in a game. It's going to make it way more effective. Now we're going to go with our post drop step series. So you'll see right here I'm self tossing the ball to myself, catching it and taking that bottom leg into a big wraparound while I pound the ball. That's that drop step you see. Boom. Big step with that pound finish. And notice how I'm switching up between taking that dribble towards the middle and also just going straight into the drop steps right here. Just straight into the drop step with that step. Same thing on this side right here. Boom. Ball down, big step. Really sealing my defender behind me. Now you'll see right here I'm taking that dribble toward the middle. Then I'm going into the drop step to get my man to shift to the middle so I have a better angle to seal him. You'll see it right there. Again, up and finish. Very important finish to have for both guards and posts because you want to be able to seal your defender as best you can. This is a great way to be able to do it. Now we're going to get into our post hook series. So as you'll see, I'm going to self toss the ball to myself again. Going to take one dribble in towards the middle, come to a jump stop and then turn for that hook shot. Now make sure you guys keep your shoulders squared to the sideline until you release that ball to keep that defender on the inside. Only way he's going to touch that ball is if he fouls you across your body. Very important finish to be able to have. Now we're going to go with our upper line finishing. So how this is going to work, you're going to start with the ball in your outside hand. Every time you take two dribbles to the elbow, go behind your back and then take one more dribble for the finish. So you'll see two dribbles right here behind your back, one more dribble and for the first variation, we're going to go off your outside Foot with your inside hand. So you'll see it again here on this side. It's going to be left foot, right hand again, two dribbles up top, behind your back, up finish. So now we're going to have our second variation where we're going to finish with our outside foot and outside hands. So same thing. Two dribbles with the outside hand behind your back. One dribble. This side will be right foot, right hand. So you'll see slow motion. Two dribbles behind the back, one more dribble, right foot, right hand finish. And going over to the left side, left foot, left hand finish. Very simple. Again, great finishers can finish with either foot and either hand on either side. And our last drill for the day is going to be XL layups. You're going to start on the block and you're going to dribble across to the opposite elbow and then come down with one more dribble for the finish. So up with two of that elbow turn, one more. Very, very simple. It's going to be tiring, guys, but make sure you push through it and cement in that work that you just put in.
