How To NEVER GET BLOCKED! - Finish Layups Over Bigger Defenders!

Ethan Khoza’s YouTube tutorial analyzes how undersized guards can finish layups over bigger defenders using Steph Curry clips. He presents three core keys: (1) keep the defender "in jail"—stay on the defender's back and away from the ball; (2) initiate contact to neutralize shot-blockers; and (3) fool the defense with varied finishes (opposite-foot, double-clutch, up-and-under). The video annotates multiple Curry plays (against DeAndre Jordan, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, Rudy Gobert, Tyson Chandler, etc.) that exemplify these principles and closes with drill recommendations and a subscription call-to-action.

Do you struggle with finishing at the rim against bigger defenders? Do you get your shot blocked often? Today we're going to take a look at Steph Curry and his ability to finish at the rim against bigger defenders. Not only is Steph Curry one of the best shooters of all time, he's also one of the best finishers of all time. And as an undersized guard who is an average NBA athlete at best, he has to be able to do that if he wants to be able to finish against some of the big guys in today's NBA. Today we're going to take a look at some of Steph Curry's finishing and see why he's able to finish against big guys as well as he's able to. And there's three main keys that I'm going to give you guys that if you can focus on these, you're finishing against bigger defenders and defenders in general is going to skyrocket. The first key is you want to make sure you keep your defender in jail, and you'll see that more when we go into these clips. But basically, what I mean by that is that I want you to keep your defender on your back, away from the ball, so that you can finish without him being able to block it. Number two is, is that you want to be able to initiate contact. Now, a lot of guys shy away from contact when finishing, but really, as the offensive player, you want to create the contact because that will allow you to neutralize the defender. And number three, you want to be able to fool the defense with your finishing. That means being able to finish off the opposite foot, Being able to finish with different double clutch finishes with either hand. That's going to make it really, really tough for a shot blocker to guess how you're going to finish and is going to enable you to make more shots and get blocked less often. All right, guys, let's get into the video now. All right, guys, so let's check out this first clip. Seth's going to come down the court, and he's going to split these two. Now. Boom, right here. This is what I call getting the defender in jail. He's able to get DeAndre Jordan on his back in a position where this left side of the rim right here is. There's no way DeAndre Jordan is going to be able to block it. He's got DeAndre Jordan stuck on that right side. And now he'll finish with his left and get the and one, because he's able to initiate contact, and DeAndre Jordan has no Choice but to knock him over. And Steph Curry is going to get an easy layup. And one. Boom. Right there. Finish. And one. That's how it's done right there. Here's the replay right here. Gets through, splits. Now watch this. Boom. Goes into him, gets him in jail. DeAndre Jordan stuck on this right side of the basket. Now all Steph's got to do is extend with that left hand. Gets that foul. And one. Here we go again. Coming off here, Splitting that. Now watch this. Gets into Kevin Love. Now he's got Kevin Love in jail. So this is already a foul right here. And Kevin Love can't get to the ball now because Steph Curry initiated the contact here. There is no way Kevin Love gets to this ball. Steph puts it up. Finish. Boom. And one. Here we go again. Gets through right into him. Tough finish. Probably could have been an and one. But a lot of times if you initiate contact, they won't give you the and one. But Steph Curry is so good at playing off the contact and making it look like he gets fouled that a lot of times he gets those and ones. But regardless, you'll be able to finish a lot more if you're able to initiate contact act and get your defender into jail. Here he is again. Gets by. Boom. Right into him. Neutralizes him. Finish bucket. Here we go again. Gets by Tristan Thompson. Right into him. Easy finish. A lot of guys you can see try to avoid contact when finishing against bigger players. But contact is your friend. You want to be the one creating the contact. If you can create the contact, you can keep the guy away from the ball. Steph comes down here, comes off this screen, splits it. Double clutch layup. So let's talk about this. A very important part of being able to finish against bigger defenders is being able to fool them with different types of finishes. Got an extensive arsenal of finishes that he can go to in any situation, whether that's off foot finishes or double clutch or up and unders. He's fantastic in terms of being able to switch up his finishes. And that's why it's so tough for guys to be able to block him. We see that right there with that double clutch finish. Here he is again going up. Shows that ball up and under, uncontested. What he does here is he freezes that defense. Here we go. Freezes him, gets him to jump for it right there. Uncontested. So if you're able to show that ball, go up and show that ball to the defender 99% of the time. They're gonna jump and try and block it. And then if you're able to bring it back under to finish on the opposite side, it'll be uncontested layups as you see right here. Goes up, shows Spencer Haas is gonna jump for that. Brings it under, uncontested finish. That's how it's done right there. Alright. Step comes down, gets downhill up shows that ball. Everybody jumps. Finishes on the other side of the rim. Bucket gets through here. These are tough finishes, but I'm going to show you guys some drills that you can do to be able to work on this. Shows it finish. If you can get this down, your finishing against bigger defenders is going to skyrocke. Kick out here. Defender's gonna jump, Steph's gonna go. Got a big here, gonna go up. Show that ball. Finish on the other side. Look at that again. Defender jumps, comes here, freezes him under. Tough finish. Bucket. That's how it's done right there. Let's go again. This is one of the more famous Steph Curry clips right here. Turning around, Rudy Gobert now he sees Derek coming down to try and block this shows that ball. Finishes on the other side. Boom. Downhill Shaw blocker comes, show him that ball. Finish it on their side, uncontested. And for a lot of you guys, this finish might look really tough, but once you practice it, you'll get it down. And this is going to help you guys so much during games. Show that ball. Finish on the other side. Steph's gonna come down this way. Gonna get low, get by him. Shows that ball against one of the best shot blockers in the NBA. Tyson Chandler goes up. Use that body. That's how you finish. Creates that contact. Turns his shoulders to protect. That ball probably could have been a foul. So as you guys can see, Steph Curry is one of the best finishers in the NBA. Let me give you guys a couple drills that you can do to be able to work on these finishes. All right, guys, that's it for me. I hope this video helped you guys out.
