The ULTIMATE Shooting Workout - 300 MAKES Workout

A coached, game-focused shooting program by Ethan Khoza centered on a 300-makes target (with options to scale down or convert to 300 shots). The video teaches warm-ups (form shooting, ball-handling into shots), zone-based self-toss drills (baseline/wing/elbow/top), relocation/pump-fake and lateral-dribble shooting, a three-cone dribble series (between legs, punch-drag, step-back), transition pull-ups, and a final creative game-situation segment. Numerical targets and concrete footwork/technique cues are given throughout (e.g., 8 makes per midrange zone, 5 makes per 3PT zone).

What's up guys? Coach Ethan here. Now, in my opinion, the most important skill in the game of basketball is.
The ability to shoot the ball.
And the reason for that is because being able to shoot opens up the entire game for not just you, but.
The rest of your teammates as well. What that means is that if the.
Team knows that you can shoot, they're gonna have to be a little bit closer to you on help. So that's gonna open up the driving lanes for a lot more of your teammates. Also, that ball gets kicked to you, they're gonna have to close out hard, you're gon by them. That defense is going to have to collapse. You're going to have an open teammate, or if they don't collapse quickly enough, you're going to be able to get.
To the rim easily.
All that starts with the ability to knock down shots from the outside. So this workout is going to be the ultimate shooting workout in my opinion. We're going to have 300 makes and it's going to focus on every single aspect of shooting the basketball. We're going to have catch and shoot, spot up shots, different game situation shots, off the dribble, we're going to have different types of off the dribble, step backs, punch drags, all that stuff. So it's really going to be a complete shooting workout. Now, 300 made shots is a lot of made shots. It's a very advanced number to be at. So if you aren't quite there, you aren't a strong shooter, you can go ahead and do less makes. So maybe you Instead of doing 300 makes, you edit this and you go for 200 makes or 150 or 100.
Whatever you want it to be.
Or you could even go for shots instead. So 300 shots instead of 300 makes, all right? But you got to be able to evaluate yourself, know where you're at. But for you more advanced players, I want you to try and get through this 300 shot workout again. We're going to hit every single aspect of shooting the basketball right here and it's really, really going to help you. Because like I said, the most important skill you need to have is the ability to shoot. Players ask me how they can become better at scoring the basketball and the first thing I'm going to ask them is, can you shoot?
Right?
Because if you can shoot, you can become a great scorer because that's going.
To open up everything else for you.
But if you can't shoot, well, that's the first part. You got to Address. So this work is going to help us to do that. So we're going to hop into it, make sure you guys go game speed as much as you can. That's the key to this, being able to go game speed for long stretches of time and hit those game shots. Let's hop into it.
It's super important in every workout, but especially a workout involving heavy shooting like this that we warm up. So we're going to get started with some one hand form shooting. I want you guys to focus on having a nice high arc on this, holding that follow through and trying to switch every single shot. After you go through 10 of those, we're going to go into two handed form shots where we're going to do the same thing but now making more of a game like release, adding that second hand, coming the whole way up. Again focusing on a nice high, holding that follow through, trying to switch every single shot. Now we're going to warm up our handles a little bit and work on the ability to quickly get the ball into that shot pocket and hit those shots. So we're going to go with our two pound between pull ups right here and you'll see me taking two hard pounds that go in between my legs and immediately going right into that jump shot. Now we're going to go with our between two dribble pull ups. So I'm going to go straight into between the legs and then I'm going to attack the basket with two dribbles and pull up. This is allowing us to work on the ability to get downhill quickly off the between the legs and again add sort of a more game like aspect to our warm up here. Now we're going to do elbow curl jump shots to work on the ability to catch the ball off a little pin down at the elbow for a shot. So I really want you to focus on footwork right here. As you'll notice when I'm on the left side, my feet are going to go right, left and then to my jump shot. And when I'm on the right side my feet are going to go left right into that jump shot. It's very, very important that you have this footwork correct. It's going to help you to have a smooth shot and it's also going to help you to be more consistent and be able to get your shot off quicker. Now we're going to get into our self toss mid range jump shots. So what you guys are going to do is going to be four you guys are going to start on the baseline, you're going to self toss the ball to yourself on either right or left side, and you're going to catch it and take a shot. Again, notice my footwork going right, left when I'm on the left side, and left, right when I'm on the right side. You're going to alternate back and forth with each side. Once you make eight shots in the baseline, you're going to go up to the wing, do the same exact thing, alternating between those two wings, and hit eight shots again. When you finish that, you're going to go to the elbows, do the same exact thing, and then the last area is the top of the key. Do the same thing, get eight shots and then you're done. Now we're going to take a step back and go self toss from three. Now. So again, same thing, you're going to start in the baseline, self toss the ball to yourself. Except this time we're going for five makes per zone. So five makes on the baseline, five makes on the wing, five makes on the elbow, and five makes from the top. Now we're going to get into our corner drifts. This is going to help us work on the ability to relocate off a drive to get to the open spot for the shot. You're going to start in the wing, you're going to toss the ball down to the corner, you're going to get down to the corner, catch it immediately, go into that shot, focus on really staying low and smoothly getting into that jump shot, having consistent mechanics and consistent feet every single time. Now we're going to go wing lifts. So again we're working on the ability to relocate off of a drive to get to the open spot for the shot. You're going to start in the corner, self toss the ball up to yourself in the wing, catch the ball for that jump shot. The pump fake is one of the most important skills to have in the game of basketball, especially as a shooter. So in this situation, you've hit a couple shots on the outside, you're going to start off the wing, self toss it to the corner like you're going into a drift again, except this time you're going to go to a pump fake, making sure you really show that basketball. Then you're going to go for a pull up. Now you see me being creative right here. You don't have to just do a one dribble pull up every time. You can go two dribbles, you can go two dribbles behind your back. You can do whatever you want to do, but make sure you really sell that pump fake because that's how this move is going to get started. When you get finished with the drifts, we're going to go the same thing. Go back to the lips with that pump fake again, making sure you're creative, but selling that pump fake every single time. The ability to shoot out of a lateral dribble is one of the most important skills to have. If you really want to be a versatile shooter. Just being a catch and shoot guy isn't going to cut it. If you want to be great, being able to get into a float dribble and then knock down a jump shot off of that is incredibly hard to guard. And it's going to make you very, very difficult for the defense to play against. So what you're going to see me doing here is I'm going to go into that immediate float dribble to the side into that jump shot. I'm also going to switch it up and just go into a side step where I'm just seeing that one step to the side and then shoot. Shooting the basketball, I want you to be creative and switch it up here. But really make sure you work on that float too. Because if you're able to float, get your defender to raise up and have to retreat a little bit to get an inch of space. If you can knock down that jump shot consistently, you will be very, very difficult to guard. Now we're going to get into our three cone series.
So as you see right here, I.
Have a cone at each elbow and then one cone at the top of the key. You're going to start with the ball in your right hand. You're going to go between at the first cone, between second cone, then into a one dribble, pull up to the middle, same thing on the other side. Then after that you're going to go to a between, then another between, then a punch drag for a pull up. So you'll see right here, all a punch drag is, is when you punch that ball on the ground while also stepping with that same side foot.
Okay, that's all it is.
So you're going to go punch into a jump shot, both sides. Then you're going to go into between, right into a punch. So instead of going into that second between the legs, you're going to go straight into a punch dribble. Then after that, the last one, you're going to go between, between one dribble, step back. So we're kind of working on all different types of shots off the dribble. Right here we Want to make sure we focus a lot on shooting off the catch early on. Now we're going to end it with some stuff off the dribble to make sure we're very well balanced as a shooter and can beat the defense using different skills. Next we're going to work on the ability to knock down shots in transition. Now guys who can pull up add another dimension to their transition offense that's very, very difficult to guard, especially if you're a good finisher as well. Now if you can knock down this mid range jump shot, we're going to move back to that three point line as well, making sure that no matter how de plays you in the transition, you're going to have the ability to score. To finish out this workout, I want you guys to go with creative shooting. So all that this is going to be is I want you to imagine that you're playing in a game and I want you to imagine that you have to make whatever move you want to make and then go into that jump shot.
Alright?
Really be creative, have fun with it, but try and work on game situation shots that maybe you don't shoot in games right now, but if you practice enough you might be able to get to that point. This is the point where you can have fun and push yourself right here. Foreign.
