A short motivational advice segment by Ethan Khoza advising young basketball players on how to progress to the next competitive level (JV → Varsity → College). Main guidance: be present and involved in the program (attend lifts, open gyms, summer/fall leagues) and use the offseason to substantially improve specific skills so you’re clearly the best option when coaches choose lineups.

If you're looking to transition to whatever that next level may be, in this case, it's jv. But if. If you're jv, maybe it's varsity. If you're varsity, maybe you're trying to make. To get yourself to the college level. Whatever. The, the best thing you can do, especially as a young player, is like a freshman coming into the high school program is just be at everything. Be at every lift, be at every open gym, whatever you can. If you're able to play with a team, if you're able to go in any sort of summer league games, fall league games, whatever you can do, be at that. Right? Just be around. That's going to help accelerate your. Your, your progress and where you're at. And you're going to have a leg up on a lot of people going into the season because you've been around. You know, the coaches, they know you. You've probably been exposed to at least a little bit of the system that they run. And so you have a little bit of familiarity, at least with that going into it, which is just going to be very helpful for you starting off. And really, aside from that, aside from making sure you're as locked in as you can be with your program, it's just making sure that you are continuing to develop as much as possible. Because at the end of the day, I can tell you that I can say, hey, be at everything. Be at every lift, every open gym, play as much as you can with the team. At the end of the day, when it comes to the actual season and it's December, it's January, your coach is looking down the bench to see who he wants to put in the game. He's not saying, oh, that kid came to 50% of the workouts in the summer, and that kid only came to 25%. So I'm gonna put the kid with 50% in. No, they're saying, who's gonna help me win right now? So at the end of the day, you've got to be better than the other options. So ultimately, take this time, this offseason to just get as good as you can, right? Become a better. Whatever position you play, whatever your game is, if you're a shooter, be the best you can be in that area. If you know him. I'm kind of weak as a ball handler. Get better at that. And in addition to you making sure that you're around as much as possible, you being a better player is going to put you in a really good position going forward.
