If you want to be a great player, it's important that you're a great ball handler. In order to be a great ball handler, you need to be a great problem solver. To be a great problem solver, you need to have access to a lot of solutions. Meaning no matter what situation you're in, no matter what gets thrown at you, you have a method, you have a response, you have a reaction, you have something that can help you to overcome any problem that you face. And that's why training creativity, especially in our ball handling, is so important. Once you start to do this and you really embrace improving your creativity, you're going to notice that you're able to do so much more. In real game situations when things aren't pre planned, when things don't go according to plan or how you want them to, and things pop up that you don't expect, you're going to be prepared because you have built that ability to be creative. So right now we're going to go through three drills that you can do to improve your creativity and see better results and win the ball in games. So the first drill we're going to do is called the percentage freestyle. And all that you're going to do is alternate between different percentages of your max effort. So obviously 100% is like all out effort and 20% would be like just above no effort. Right. And then we can also be in between there. So think 20, 40, 60, 80%, 100%. All you're going to do is give yourself a little bit of a space, so maybe 5ft either direction and you're just gonna freestyle, but you're gonna mix up between those percentages. So I might start myself off at 20, hit 100, back down to 20, I might scale up to 40, back to 100, and I've got all this, maybe back down to 20, I got all this area to do that in. And not only are we working on creativity right there, being able to mix up our moves, throwing together different moves, switch it up and change between percentages, but also we're change of pace as well and smooth change of pace. So I can be dribbling the ball, I can be at 20%, quick at 100% to catch a defender off guard for our next drill is called the stops freestyle. All that you're going to do is you're going to give yourself some sort of start. So I might just go out of here to drop and go, I might go out of between, you can go off of a push, cross, whatever, but we're just going to mix up the type of ways that we're stopping. Okay. So there's a lot of ways you can stop. You're just going to try and switch it up so the direction will change and the way that you stop. Maybe you stop with the snatch cross or behind the back or an inverted drag through your legs. Okay. But you're just going to mix it up. And now for this last drill, we're going to go with the crawl freestyle. So how this is going to work. So you're gonna start to crawl, which basically just means that you're down the ball like this. Okay. So I'm starting almost in a flat position, maybe a little bit elevated. All that you're gonna do is go from baseline to half court. Out of that crawl start, you're gonna mix up the moves that you get to. So I have crossover between behind, spin move, But I'm mixing that up, trying to get the half court as fast as I can. And it's okay if you feel out of control doing this. The goal is to be going so fast and trying to push yourself with the different combinations, Pushing your creativity, pushing the speed that you're at. Watch how this transforms your ball handling.
