Melannie Gregersen's photograph was stolen and used in a fake thumbnail for an offensive video presented as her content. Fake dating and WhatsApp profiles using her image have also been created. She's asking viewers to report the fraudulent video and profiles.
So I just saw something that kind of broke my heart. I was looking through some stuff on YouTube and there was a video that was recommended that was not by me, but somebody has stolen one of my pictures, used it as a thumbnail with incredibly offensive suggestive content on it. And it kind of broke my heart. I mean, having somebody steal my face is one thing, but then to have my face as if I was saying those very inappropriate things just really bothered me because I'm a God-fearing woman and I have worked so hard to create a platform that is appropriate and uplifting. And to have somebody do that just really really, really upset me. I know people have made all kinds of like fake dating profiles for me and all kinds of things like that, and that is— you feel so violated when somebody takes your face and uses it to hurt other people. This one just hit on a whole other level because not only had they stolen my face, but they acted as if I was saying those inappropriate things. So just know, if you happen to see it— it has a lot of views too— if you happen— they weren't even saying it was by me, they had just stolen my face as if this woman was saying this thing, right? And so if you happen to see those things, please know that it's not by me. I do my best to report them when I can. If you would like to report them, that would certainly help. Same thing with dating profiles. I do not have any dating profiles. Those are all fake. I don't have a WhatsApp or whatever it's called. I don't, I don't have an account there. So just know that. Please stay safe and please report those when you see them. All of my accounts are verified with the checkmarks. The only exception is my— I have a separate Instagram account that's for my writing stuff. And I'll put up here what that is, so please don't report that because that one is real.
