SAP on AWS - Customer Success Story

Sanjay Poonan and Sapan Panigrahi from SAP discuss how SAP HANA integrates with AWS infrastructure. They cover cloud scalability, real-time analytics, and how the partnership lets businesses run SAP applications on AWS servers.
My name is Sanjay Poonan, I'm President Corporate Officer at SAP. SAP is the world leader in business applications and business software. 60% of the world's GDP runs through our systems. We're also now the leader in areas like analytics, big data and mobility. And an increasing player also in the cloud world. We're excited about the AWS partnership largely because when you think about the leader in cloud infrastructure, Amazon Web Services, the leader in business applications, we're able to take our software and put it in the world's best, most reliable, economical infrastructure. So business suite, our core applications, ERP and CRM can now be certified in running Amazon Web Services. SAP HANA represents a revolution in data warehousing databases.
My name is Sapan Panigrahi, I'm Vice President of HANA Cloud Public Engineering. My responsibility is to promote HANA and we're starting with introducing HANA1 on AWS. SAP HANA is in memory database that you can use for very fast analytics. It's a column order database where data is loaded into the memory and you can pretty much get answers to real time questions in a matter of seconds. AWS is the leading provider of public cloud infrastructure in the world. They are pretty much ahead of all other public cloud providers by three, four years. They got a massive scalability in the infrastructure. The failsaf, the features are already built in and it's a pay as you go model so our customers don't have to really invest anything in upfront hardware.
We also have mobility Faria that can manage. We now have simulated 10 million devices running on top of HANA world class software running on world class infrastructure. And that we think is a very, very good story for our joint partnership.
