Commercial building owners, you're being targeted by the New South Wales government if your tenant is illegally trading vapes and tobacco. In the latest request for shareholder input, the New South Wales government, in its infinite wisdom of trying to create, create a new responsibility for other people to police, have been canvassing to propose that building owners be held liable if they knowingly— how you do that, I'm not sure— permit or allow the sale of illegal tobacco or vapes. Which is interesting because in case policy riders haven't read a commercial lease, it explicitly states illegal activity is in breach of the lease agreement. So what The government's essentially proposing is if you know your tenants breaking their lease and we can prove it, we're going to hold you responsible. Doesn't quite make sense, but stay tuned. Or better still, let me know your thoughts.
