A property manager explains why move-out inspections matter: they want residents' exit experience to match their arrival. Furnished apartments cost more to inspect because they take significantly longer to check thoroughly.

It's our job to look under. It's our job to look up because we want someone's experience when they're moving out to be just as good as when they move in. And the way for us to do that is to be consistent, less fair wear and tear obviously, but being fair, being consistent, being diligent. In how we go through our process, furnished is a lot more work, which is why the fees for inspections is a little bit higher, but suffice to say it's a time issue.
