Better Business Building for Entrepreneurs

In this YouTube tutorial, Dan Willis of millennialmotivator.ca addresses entrepreneurs who feel stuck and offers four immediately actionable strategies to grow a business. He first frames a business as a "village" and urges viewers to actively engage with their community—both online (social media, forums) and offline (networking events, coworking spaces). Next, he stresses the necessity of consistent content creation (blogs, videos, photos) to demonstrate authority and provide value for free, thereby attracting clients. The third pillar is collaboration: building relationships with other professionals, exchanging expertise, and leveraging each other's networks while maintaining professionalism and reciprocity. Finally, he calls for concrete, daily action—spending at least an hour creating and sharing content, reaching out to three potential collaborators, and using tools like Post‑its to track tasks. Throughout, Dan promotes his weekly live sessions (Saturdays at noon EST) where he reviews viewers' channels, websites, and social media, and encourages viewers to subscribe, enable notifications, and engage with the channel’s community. The video concludes with a challenge to create and share something that day, reinforcing the practical, hands‑on approach.

A lot of people, they get into the entrepreneur game and they're either freshly getting started or they've been at it for a couple years and they're just not seeing growth. And they're— every business out there wants to grow. Every business wants to see success. They want to get bigger. They want to get better at what they do. And it's frustrating when you can't figure out what are the next steps I need to take in order to build my business and take it to the next level. So let's stop, let's take a look, and 4 simple things you can do today in order to start building your business. It takes a village to raise a child, age-old adage, right? The thing is, it applies directly to our business as well. Consider your business as an entity of itself. Right? It's, it's got its own life to it. It's got its own personality. It's not you. It's an extension of you and the community that it serves. Okay, so when I'm saying it takes a village to raise a child, it's similar to that concept of it takes a village to build a business. You can't do it on your own, and I'm not talking about building a staff. What I am talking about is getting involved in the community as a whole. Stop for a moment and consider your business. Consider who it serves, where it serves them. That is a group of people. It's a tribe of people. For those of you that have read the book Tribes, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. But that is a core concept of building your business that you can start with today. Find ways to engage that community, whether it's online through social media, whether it's in real life through face-to-face networking. Find ways to connect and serve in that community. It doesn't necessarily need to be directly through your business. But you as a person need to be out there and engaging with the community. Great example of this is the other day, I was able to swing into Collab Space and meet with a great guy who's building up an amazing place for entrepreneurs to grow and engage with one another. That is a place that I— somebody who wants to see entrepreneurs grow and succeed— that's a great place for me to be and connect. It's not about me selling my business there. It's about me being present there and being a part of that community. It can go a long way. So take the moment today, consider what community you're in, find ways to engage with them socially and in real life, and you're gonna start to see more success with your business as the community at large becomes more aware of who you are and what you do. What's next? Alright guys, so you're engaged in community, you've got people knowing about you, talking about you. The next thing is being active in creating, and I know that's one of the mottos here, right? Create, engage, inspire. You're gonna see this regularly on this channel, but the creation of something that's relevant to your community is so vital for you to be out there and creating content, whether it's a blog, whether it's videos, whether it's photography, doesn't matter. You have to constantly be out there creating. People love to consume content. You can see it in the success of the social networks that have exploded in today's world, right? You see things like Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, all All of these networks explode and are fed through content creation. If you're not creating content, you're not helping to create awareness around your brand, around your business. It's a simple thing that you can do to say, look, I've got authority in the thing that I do. So whether it's, let's say you've got a food business, you're a chef, you do catering, you want people to be appealed by what you've got to offer, great. Food videos are a phenomenal way to do that. Even these great videos, I'm sure you've all seen them on Facebook where People just have a top-down camera and all you're doing is you're seeing people create something that's a simple recipe. It doesn't look too difficult. They show the steps one by one in a quick 1-minute video and bam, you've got a great recipe. What a powerful piece of content. It shows people that you can take something that looks very difficult, make it very simple and present it properly. It's a great way to engage. This is just one simple example. Every business has models and systems of doing it. This, video you're watching right now is a method of doing that. How do I build authority and show people that I know what I'm talking about when it comes to building a business using digital marketing, growing a community using YouTube? It's simple. I create content that shows that authority. If you are not creating content on the daily, you need to dedicate an hour a day to creating something. Go out there and create. It's that simple. Then you take the thing that you're creating and you engage. You reach out to your community that you have been tying into, whether it's in person, face-to-face, or online through social media, and you give them that content. I didn't say charge them for that content. I said you give them the content. A lot of people will give the red flag here and say, don't ever give it away for free. I don't buy into that. What you don't give away for free is your service. You don't go cater a wedding for free. What you do is you show people that you can cater a wedding through through your content and you pick up the contracts and the business through that authority. It's a powerful way to grow your business. If you're not creating daily, you need to get on it. Next up guys, it's collaborate, collaborate, collaborate, collaborate. There's so many amazing people out there. Since I started this channel, I've met so many amazing people that have helped me. They've given me tips. Here's how you grow this. Here's how you do this. You should check out this camera. You should try this thing. And it's been a huge help in growing this and vice versa. I've been able to reach out and help people businesses. You should try this, you might want to look at this, try doing this. I see the value here. When you collaborate, when you work with other people that are in the industry, they may not necessarily be clients for you, and that's fine. But understand that you have limitations. There's only so much you can know, there's only so much you can do. And there are plenty of professionals out there that know more than you in certain ways, they can do things better than you in a lot of ways. Humble yourself and Go out there, collab, get to know people, network, build that network of professionals that have expertise in a whole bunch of different places so that when you need a skill and you don't have it, you can reach out for some advice. Maybe you do hire them, maybe you do, but for the most part, I found that collaborative networking is a powerful tool. Reaching out and being able to just tap on somebody's shoulder with a quick question is a great way to go. Now, if you need more than just a quick question, I always advocate that you do hire a friend. Don't, don't be, don't be that guy that's always just mooching off of people. Be out there and be legitimate in your relationships. But collaboration with one another where you give and take in a relationship is a powerful way to grow. Find ways to collaborate, to come together, to work together. And it works in almost every avenue, guys. There are people out there with skills that can be applied to just about every business. And it seems nutty, but I'll give you an example. I know a guy that's doing scrap metal. Great. He collects scrap metal and sells it. It seems like there would be no connection between the two of us, but it's just not true. It gives me an opportunity to see a small business grow through things like this YouTube channel. I get to gauge whether or not the content that I'm creating is of value to even guys that are doing trades and scrap working. That's huge for me. And vice versa, I'm able to help him grow his business from the ground up to start creating some success in his business in ways that he hadn't considered before. It's an amazing gift to be able to collaborate with one another and bounce things off each other. Oh yeah, how'd you, how'd you like this video? Oh, it didn't really speak to me. It didn't really apply to me. Great. I can take that note and apply it into a new video. And it works the other way around, right? Oh, he can come to me. He knows he can send me a message. Hey, I was thinking about doing this. What are your thoughts on that? How do you think that goes together? It's such a great great way to build and grow stronger. We're, we're helping each other just build our businesses little by little by little. It's a powerful tool. I highly recommend if you're not collaborating, you're not networking, you're not getting to know new people with new skills and new experiences regularly, you've got to get on it. You've got to get it done. It's going to help you in so many massive ways. All right guys, hopefully these things are powerful tools that you can get started on right now. And I say that because I, I hate getting advice. I hate getting tips from people that is, well, this is something you can do in a year. This is something you can do in 2 years. This is something you can do in 5 years. If it's not practical and you can't apply it right now, I don't know the value to you. This is such a powerful way to get started today. Go out there today and find your community and create something and give it to them. Okay? If you don't know who your community is, find them online. Forum, find a Facebook group, find an Instagram hashtag, find somewhere where your community is sitting. Go out there, engage, consume some of their content, create conversations, and share content that you create, that you're gonna create today. You're gonna challenge yourself, you're gonna create something amazing, and you're gonna give it away to that community. You're gonna do it right now. As soon as this video is done, you click that like button and you've shared it out, you're gonna go do that. Create that content, share it out to the community, and then you're gonna go find 3 people in your network somewhere that you want to get to know better. Okay, just write them down on a Post-it if you got it. Shameless plug for Post-its. They're not sponsoring the video, but I love these things. Go out there and find 3 people that you see that are out there killing it. They're successful in what they do and you want to get to know them better. And just shoot them a message. Hey man, what's up? I love what you're doing. That's all it takes. Start a conversation. Create that conversation, build a relationship, and see how you guys can collaborate and help each other out. I hope this video was helpful to you guys. I hope you guys are killing it and having an amazing Friday. I will be back tomorrow for that live video, so make sure that you've got the bell clicked if you wanna be a part of that, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. Question of the day is, what are you gonna create today? I'll see you tomorrow, guys. Take it easy.
Yeah. This is the end of side 1 of this record. To please me— Now, turn is over for Second Sight. The, the, the Second Sight. Yeah!
