#christian #devotional #wisdom you're allowed to make mistakes!

Dan Willis reflects on Proverbs 28, arguing that confessing mistakes liberates you while hiding them rots you from inside. He ties this to the Christmas season, when many struggle, and urges you to own your errors without shame and move forward.
Chapters
Early morning today. Busy, busy day at the restaurant, so wanted to make sure that I got this done. Daily devotion, Proverbs 28. We're almost there. Couple more chapters, by the end of the week we'll be through Proverbs. But today we're taking a look at the value in being open about our mistakes. And the passage is really cool where it has this idea The person who tries to hide the things that they've done wrong, it's just gonna rot at them. It's gonna wear at them. But the person who is able to confess, the person who's able to say, yeah, I made a mistake, I did something wrong, they're gonna be able to not only repair the relationships where the wrong was done, they're going to be able to grow themselves. You can't grow unless you're able to admit a fault. I came in second place. I fell short. I made a mistake. I screwed up. Whatever it's gonna be. But admitting that you're not doing well or doing the right thing, you're able to make a plan for how am I gonna fix this? How am I gonna grow? What's gonna change? Great. Confessed, it's out there. I did wrong, I've been wrong. I came short from what I was aiming for. Great. And now you can move forward. Somebody who's unable to see that or do that or chooses not to, there's no growth. There's no ability to become more than what you already are. Because what you are is already gonna be perfect in your eyes. There is no, I'm going to improve, I'm gonna grow, it's gonna be better. It's gonna be— it's gonna be a constant cycle of, oh, I did something wrong, but I'm not willing to see it, admit it, or own it, and so I'm just gonna keep doing it and keep returning to it and keep making the same mistakes over and over and over and over and over. This is a tough time right now in Canada. Christmas is a great season, but it's a tough time. There's a lot of people that are struggling. There's a lot of people that are suffering. There's a lot of mistakes that we face coming into the end of the year. We look back on the year and go, did I get done what I wanted to get done? And if you haven't, if you can think of mistakes that you made recently, maybe even as recently as today, who knows when you're watching this. Don't beat yourself up about it. Own it for sure. Yeah, that was a mistake. I screwed up. But in that confession, realize that now you have the ability to to do better next time, to grow from that, to do more, to be more. So I want to encourage you, you made a mistake, you're allowed to make mistakes. Just learn from them.
