Good social media morning, guys. We are back at it. Let's go. Welcome back, guys. I'm Dan, the Millennial Motivator, and I'm here to help you guys break down the latest in social media updates, great content, conferences, and events. So if you're new to this, you haven't seen it before, stick around. It's not long, 3 to 5 minutes. We're gonna break down some of the best that's out there. Just click that like subscribe button. Down there if you feel that this is something that adds value to your morning routine. It's quick, it's 3 to 5 minutes, and you get all the updates that you would possibly need to stay informed with the social media world. So without further ado, let's go. First up, TikTok continues to grow up. Instead of just the constant feed, they're looking to actually give you an Explore tab and then a Follow tab, something similar to a lot of the other platforms that you see out there— Twitter, Instagram. It's gonna give it a more mature feel instead of just the constant stream of up, up, up, up, up, up. So for those of you that are massive TikTok fans out there, this is news that they are continuing to evolve and grow. They're not staying stagnant, which is fantastic news for that community. And of course, this is a little bit worrisome for platforms like Snapchat that are failing to innovate in massively new ways as TikTok continues to. Now here's a platform we don't talk about a ton, but if YouTube is social media, then surely Twitch is as well. And Twitch is seeing a huge rise in content that is not gaming related. For so many years, Twitch was seen as the go-to gaming platform for live broadcast of online gaming. Now that's not so much the case. They've got channels like the creative channel, music channel, just in real life talk channel. I know I have a stock trading channel that I love to watch on Twitch. The reality is this, it is a growing, evolving platform, and now the data supports it. If you guys want to dig into that a little bit more, you don't know what Twitch is, or you haven't really played around with it, as always, the links to all of these articles are down below in the description. So feel free to hop down there, check out the article, and get some more details as to what exactly is going on, what the numbers look like. Twitter continues to look to innovate as it heads into 2020, and there's 2 big updates here that are looking very, very interesting. One, Twitter's come up with an idea of tipping with tweets. That's right, you'll be able to make small cash donations or contributions to your favorite tweeters out there. This could work in a whole bunch of different ways. If you have a livestream, if you have an auction, if you have all kinds of different businesses that operate in single transactions, this is just an amazing way for them to monetize the platform and and start showcasing that a little bit. I assume there will be a small kickback to Twitter for the use of this wonderful feature, but irregardless, this is a new way, a new tool for them to take online payment, cryptocurrency, and allow that to play into their platform. The other one that they're working on is they've rolled out some conversational tools with who can reply to what comments. We've already heard rumors of that, but it now sounds like Twitter is actually developing a system for really analyzing what kind of content is out there and why it is going viral, not just that it is getting the reach, that a lot of people are having conversations on it, but why it's doing that. And, and its reasoning behind this is there's a lot of news out there that comes out that, whether it be unverified news or whether it be potentially hostile, toxic news, that gets a ton of conversation around it because it's so polarizing, but at the same time isn't beneficial to really anybody that's having the conversation. So Twitter sees this as an opportunity to step in and say, well, we're just going to limit the reach on this. We're not going to eliminate it from the platform, we're not going to delete it, but as far as promoting it, pushing it, and getting it to more eyes. That's not gonna happen anymore. So that's worth noting, guys, that if you're gonna be on the platform, it may be to your credit to really dial in on being a positive influence on the platform. If you're gonna be critical, that's fine, but don't be toxic about it. Don't just incite things for the sake of inciting them. Arguments aren't gonna go nearly as far as they used to go. We often hear people decry social media as the negative— people are on it too long, it's making them depressed, they don't have it— well, it turns out that may not be the case for everybody. There's a new report that's out that has a breakdown showing that boomers— yeah, boomers, the ones that are going into retirement— are actually feeling happier and more connected because of social media. As a result of social media, they're spending more time speaking to friends, families, loved ones, distant relatives, whatever it may be. And that in turn is showing more hours used by them and a happier outset. So this leaves much to be questioned in regards to the reports that come out decrying that millennials or Gen Z are actually more depressed and antisocial as a result of social media, whereas boomers are not. This may show very clearly that the tools themselves are not responsible for your emotional state or mental state after using the platform, but now it's something to do more with how your generation is using that tool. So very interesting stuff there, definitely dig into that. And last but certainly not least, ladies and gentlemen, we have an amazing interview between Stephanie Liu and Winnie Sun, 2 of my favorites from Twitter, LinkedIn. If you guys haven't seen them, you must be living under a rock. Winnie Sun, of course, runs the Weekly Winnie Sun Chat. Consistently trends in the US when we're doing it.
