All right guys, today we're tackling new content from Disney Plus, Evan Carmichael, Roberto Blake. We're taking a look at schools using social media to monitor their students in school and out of school, and Jakarta putting the lockdown on social networks. Stick around, let's get down to this. Welcome back guys. If you haven't smashed the like button, smash the like button and let's get going. So today in social media, we're seeing some updates come down, some news coming from both countries and social media. First and foremost, we see A story coming from Instagram that not only have they already put in a process to eliminate self-harm from the platform through images and photos, but they're also going a step further now. Memes, cartoons, drawn depictions of any kind of self-harm, infliction of self-harm, or harm of others is going to be removed from the platform as well. It can be flagged, it can be removed, which is a great move. I think we see a lot of conversation around bullying. We see a lot of conversation around just really bad mind spaces on the platform. And so for them to take this proactive step before it's legislated or mandated, it's great to see that Instagram is stepping up, taking the step in order to better provide a safe environment that isn't chock-full of potential triggers for a lot of people. So while we're speaking about people putting the lockdown in and really trying to get control of social media, news out of Indonesia that in the event of a national crisis, they will actually put a lockdown on social media. And this may not seem like a huge deal for a lot of you out there, but as far as freedom speech advocates go, this is massive. During times of crisis, often social media is one of the best ways for people to communicate with one another about their own safety, about what's going on. And the reality is, when a government seizes control of social networks during an event or crisis, it creates a bit of uncertainty from us, the people. So it's definitely something to watch to see how that rolls out. Indonesia, suffice it to say, is not a first-world country. It's not— we're not talking England or America or Canada. We're talking somewhere that has some fairly strict, rigid rules about what you can and cannot do already. So it'll be interesting to see what comes of that. But I'd love to hear your thoughts on that. What do you guys think? Do you think that a country should have the ability to come in and just mandate what social media networks can and cannot do in the event of a crisis? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Now, while it may not be control of social media accounts, there's something really interesting coming out of Iowa today where a school has been given a grant from the government and they have opted to use that grant to monitor the social media feeds of their students. That's right, the school is going to use this massive amount of funding from the government not for classrooms, textbooks, etc., instead to prevent possible incident inside their school, whether that be shooting or vandalism or whatever it may be, bullying. They're gonna monitor heavily the social media of their students. Now again, this one's a little bit alarming for me where the Big Brother concept where everybody's being watched all the time— now that is a reality in this day and age, age, but for a school to openly say, we are going to take money from the government and it's going directly towards the monitoring of our students on school time, off school time. Uh, I understand that there's a fear thing here, but at the same time, this is a slippery slope, it feels like. So getting killer content rolling today, we've got Linkia who has dropped a 4 Ways to Slay the Holiday marketing campaign. It's a beautiful little infographic.
