In this instructional video, Dan Willis (millennialmotivator.ca) outlines a three‑step framework for entrepreneurs who want to build genuine relationships with specific influencers—whether they are event coordinators, podcast hosts, or celebrities. First, he advises viewers to actively follow and consume the influencer’s content across platforms to understand their priorities and become a recognizable member of their community. Second, he recommends standing out by creating and sharing original commentary or responses to the influencer’s posts, thereby exposing the influencer to the viewer’s own audience. Third, he suggests a professional outreach approach, emphasizing a polished LinkedIn profile and direct messages (or DMs on other platforms) to propose collaborations once credibility has been established. Throughout, Willis stresses authenticity, value‑aligned pitching, and the importance of building a relationship before making a pitch.

Today what we're talking about is how to connect to a specific influencer, and this may not seem like a huge deal for everyone, but anyone who's an entrepreneur that's looking to reach out to, let's say, an event coordinator, a specific podcast host, perhaps a celebrity of some kind that you'd like your brand to be affiliated with, whatever the reason, there are many opportunities for this in business to try to reach out to a specific influencer. Now more and more inboxes, notifications are just loaded with spam. So I want to give you a couple steps here where you can genuinely and authentically reach out to a specific influencer and get the success you're looking for. Let's go. Okay, number 1, guys, and this may seem like an odd suggestion, but follow and consume their content. Now what do I mean by this? Let's say for example Tony Robbins is somebody that you want to connect to. Great. Make sure that you are following him actively on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, wherever you actively use social media. What this allows you to do is get a feel for what is Tony's priority right now, what is he working on, what are the things that are his passions, his side projects. The more that you can consume that and interact with that content, it's going to do a couple different things. The first, it's going to give you a better understanding of a value proposition, what this influencer values above something else. So when eventually you do reach out to them, you know not to waste your time by dropping something on them that is completely of no interest to them. The other is, if you are actively engaging on multiple platforms with an influencer, they are going to take note that you are consistently a member of the community, and the name will start to be very common to them. They'll understand, oh, this person is looking to engage in a meaningful way. You can't just show up on the first day and start spamming inboxes. It won't work like that. Follow them on their feeds, engage with their content, become a part of their community. That's step number 1. Step number 2 is stand out. So yes, we're engaging with content, but on top of that, start some conversations. Show content that you love from maybe their YouTube channel or, or Instagram TV. Grab something and give your spin on it. Perhaps do a video response to Tony Robbins' latest whatever. Ninja put out a video and you want to be a Twitch partner, no problem. Go into his latest video and give your thoughts on it in a post, whether that's Twitter or Facebook or LinkedIn, that doesn't matter. But give your spin on their content. This acts in a little bit of a different way than the first tip that I gave you. In this way, you are now having them come to your feed off of the tag or notification that you throw up there. It's a valuable way to show that not only are you, you know, engaging with the content they put out in their community, but you're exposing your own community to their brand and their focus. They really appreciate this. Influencers love it when you're sharing their content into your streams. Okay, last but not least, guys, this is the formal way to reach out. Okay, there are many, many influencers out there. Some of them are managed by agencies, some are not. For me, the best method that I found is build a professional profile on LinkedIn and and reach out directly to the person. Now, if that doesn't bear results immediately, perhaps you're following on Twitter or Instagram has led you to a point where you can actually reach out directly. IG, Instagram, you're throwing out a direct message. Twitter, they followed you back, you send out a DM. There are lots of opportunities for direct outreach. The one that I found works best is LinkedIn. Often influencers that are interested in a collaboration of some kind are doing so because they see a business opportunity. LinkedIn is business-minded people working on business-minded things. It just makes sense if you're looking to reach out to a LinkedIn— to an influencer of any kind, you would use LinkedIn as a valuable resource to do that. So that's it, guys. I hope that helps you in reaching out to a specific influencer. Remember, engage, become a part of the community, share their content out into your stream and give your thoughts on it. And then last but not least, reach out in a professional manner and and then build that relationship that way to the point where you can drop a pitch. Let me know which method you think is going to work best to help you get attached to the next influencer. Let me know down in the comments below, and I will catch you tomorrow with another great video.
