In this instructional video, Dan Willis of millennialmotivator.ca explains a low‑cost, high‑impact strategy for entrepreneurs to get others to promote their business. He argues that paid ads and time‑intensive content marketing are often impractical for small businesses, so the key is to shift from self‑promotion to authentic participation in existing online conversations. The core process consists of three steps: (1) stop name‑dropping and instead offer genuine feedback, insights, and authority within relevant social media discussions; (2) actively engage with users who respond—reply, like, and follow up—to turn those interactions into relationships; and (3) nurture those relationships so followers begin to share the entrepreneur’s original content, amplifying the brand across their networks. Willis reinforces the model with a simple chain analogy, emphasizes the importance of community involvement, and ends with a call‑to‑action asking viewers to try the method, comment on their results, and share the video with other entrepreneurs.

Now, there are a lot of content strategies out there, from pay-per-click ads, you're going onto YouTube, you're going onto Google, you're going on Facebook, you're going on Twitter, wherever you're dropping your advertising campaigns, and that's one way to go. We definitely see that paid advertising is a beast. Next, what have you got? Content marketing. And you know I'm a huge fan of content marketing, creating video blogs, vlogs, podcasts, using that to gain exposure for your brand. I think that's fantastic. But to be honest, it's time-consuming. Now, as an entrepreneur, time and money are the 2 things that we've just tackled, and those are things that are at times very restricted. You don't have a ton of time and money lying around. So the best way that you could go about really driving and marketing your brand is to get others to do it for you. Am I right? Not sure how to make that happen though? Okay, let's walk through this. Okay, first and foremost, if you want to get other people to promote your business for you, the trick is this: stop spamming your business. Let me repeat that: stop spamming your business. You want to be out on social, you want to be out there as a part of the conversations that are happening, and you want to be genuinely engaged, bringing authentic feedback, opinion, and authority to those conversations. If your brand happens to fit in with what's going on in the dialogue, that's alright, there's nothing wrong with that, but don't drop it. Stop dropping your name and dropping your brand in there. I guarantee you it's not going to work. People will just filter it out. What's better is for you to show up in those conversations, whether it's Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, doesn't matter. Show up in those conversations and instead show your authority through what you have to offer. Show them, speak it into it. Oh, you're wondering how this works? I know how that works because my company does that. Here, this is how that works. Once you've been able to speak into that conversation that's already happening, it creates some authority and has people taking a look at your profile and saying, what's going on? What's happening here? Who is this person? That's exactly what I needed to know. And they will want to connect. It will start a conversation. It doesn't take much, it's a single comment. I'm not talking about blowing your whole consultancy out of the water, but when you stop name-dropping and you start looking how you can provide value, you start to change the metric and create conversations where people want to know about your business. But how does this get people sharing for you? Once you've got your name out there and you're starting to comment on things and, and be a part of conversations and create solutions for people, what's going to happen is the other people in those conversations are going to start to take note. Other problem solvers or other people with the same problem, all of them are going to take a look at what you have to say. And those that agree are going to start to do things like, like, comment, share that out. And when that starts to happen, now what we've got is them sharing your authority further and further and further. Their networks are building your authority and your authenticity in your niche. This is a big step, guys. Don't appreciate it. So when people show up, they like your comment, they like what you have to say, they reply back to you, engage in those conversations. Okay, so step 1, stop the name drop, offer your feedback, offer your insight into what's going on. Step 2, those that engage and love what you're talking about, whether they're people in the same industry or the people with the problem that you're solving, either way, their replies, their comments, their likes, and their shares should be followed up. Engage. Engage. Last but not least, we're there, guys. People start to not only share your feedback that you've provided into commentary elsewhere on the web, now what starts to happen is this: they start to follow you. They start to follow your feeds, they start to follow your content, and when that starts to happen, then they start to come along and appreciate who you are and what you do, and they start to share your original content out to the world. This is it, guys. This simple model of stop the name drop, engage authenticity, be a part of the community, enjoy the conversations that you're having, and allow the people there to consume your content and distribute it for you. It's a simple chain, but so often we miss the little steps along the way that can make it happen. It's that easy to get people to share your business for you guys. So what I want to know is Have you tried this? Does this work for you? Are you gonna give it a shot? Let me know down in the comments below. And if you know somebody that's out there with a business or an entrepreneur who's looking to get other people to share their business for them, drop them a link. Catch you later, guys.
