In this concise, under‑five‑minute daily briefing, host Dan Willis delivers a roundup of the latest social‑media news, resources, and trends aimed at marketers and agency professionals. He opens by inviting listeners to a Twitter #VidChat focused on video‑content tools, then highlights a comprehensive Dan Lok article that details strategies for earning income on social platforms. Willis points to an Agorapulse guide on improving Facebook community engagement, and references Talkwalker’s 2023 social‑media trends report packed with visual data. He discusses Instagram’s experimental removal of public likes, citing comments from the platform’s VP of Product and expressing support for the move toward less vanity‑driven metrics. Finally, Willis notes that WhatsApp will not carry ads for now, describing the app as a “dark social” channel and suggesting opportunities for marketers seeking ad‑free environments. Throughout, he encourages sharing, subscribing, and providing feedback to shape future episodes.

And if you want notifications every morning when we go live, just click the subscribe and bell button or whatever it is on whatever platform you're listening to. Let's do this. First and foremost, guys, on Twitter, we've got VidChat again today. We're breaking down tools of the trade. So if you're looking to make video part of your content strategy this year, this one is for you. We're gonna break down all the tools that you need to have in order to be successful with video content creation. Hope you guys can join us on there. Again, all you have to do is search the hashtag #vidchat, V-I-D-C-H-A-T. Search that on Twitter and you'll find the chat, 1 PM Eastern Standard Time. Alright, next up we've got Dan Lok. Dan Lok is a powerhouse Canadian out of the West Coast, but he's written a great article on how to use social media and make money. It's a massive article. Don't think that it's one of those short blog articles that's 400 words and done. This thing is an omnibus. It's a huge beast, so really dig through it, chew through it. If you've considered being in social media, maybe you've been in in social media for a while and you're struggling to make an income from it, this is a great article, tons of great tips and tricks in there, YouTube videos, all kinds of great resources, so check that out. As always, guys, links are down below in the comment section, so you guys can always find those there. We also have a fantastic article on how to rock your Facebook, that's right, how to fix your Facebook community engagement, audience, all of it. Agorapulse hooked us up, it's an amazing article, I suggest you read it. We've got news from our data fans out there. That's right, Talkwalker is a massive beast when it comes to data, and they're breaking down the 23 social media trends that you need to be aware of. It's a great report. I always love pictures. I'm kind of a picture guy myself, so there's lots of those there for you to break down, look at the data, and understand what's going on, and understand what the best practices are for your business or agency this year. It's been a while now that we've heard of Instagram toying with the concept of getting rid of likes. Well, there's some data that's dropped on their initial rollout of this and what they're seeing, what their thoughts are. Instagram's VP of Product weighed in on it, and if you wanna read more about that in some detail, see what he had to say, see what he thinks about what's going on, you guys know I'm a huge fan of Instagram deciding to shut this down, get rid of likes, get rid of forward-facing vanity metrics. I think this is a fantastic way to go about building a better community on the platform. So check out what the VP of Product has to say. I think it's a great read, take a look. And last but not least, in an unexpected move, Mark Zuckerberg, that's right, the man who loves to cash in on his platform, Is not going to be putting ads on WhatsApp. So WhatsApp will remain a dark social platform that has no advertisement on it. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the term dark social, clearly that's something that's not publicly facing. WhatsApp is a more direct person-to-person contact. It's not a massive spam board of all kinds of different things. It's a direct contact community that's about conversation. So Facebook has backed off the idea to advertise and incentivize advertising on that platform for now. Uh, I definitely would never say never when it comes to the Zuckerberg machine for money, but, uh, there's a good opportunity here for you to hop on a platform if you're tired of advertising. That is it for today, guys. I know that was a quick and easy one. Hopefully the content that's here is valuable for you. As always, the program is getting started and we are looking for tips and tricks on how to make your morning more efficient. So if there's things that are missing here, if you want me to pull apart the articles a little bit more, I can probably do that for you. If there's certain things that we're missing— updates, trends, people that you would like to hear from— let me know in the comments down below, and I will do my best to enrich the program a little bit. I still want to keep it kind of short, so I don't think interviews are going to be a possibility, but I'd love to hear your opinions. Let me know, and I will catch you guys Monday with another episode.
