In this episode of Social Media Morning, the host delivers a rapid-fire roundup of recent social media news. He begins by highlighting a Fox report urging platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn to take proactive steps to prevent mass shootings, calling for better scanning and law‑enforcement cooperation. He then introduces ZooHoo, a new gift‑centric social app positioning itself as a non‑ad‑driven challenger to Facebook, suggesting it could foster more genuine engagement. Next, he notes Facebook’s launch of a dedicated news tab aimed at separating verified news from opinion and reducing misinformation, especially after election‑related fake news concerns. The host promotes Pat Flynn’s new "Ask Pat Live" podcast, recommends checking it out, and mentions the #WelcomeToArabia hashtag campaign, which uses social media to showcase Arabian tourism as a counter‑narrative to conflict‑focused coverage, citing a Talkwalker article. He also announces YouTube’s upcoming interactive film "The Medium" slated for October 30, comparing it to Netflix’s choose‑your‑own‑adventure experiment. Finally, he encourages viewers to register for the free online Global Marketing Day conference organized by SEMrush, and reminds the audience that his own Social Media Morning podcast is now available on Apple Podcasts and other platforms. Throughout, he asks for likes, comments, and feedback on the topics covered.

Good Social Media Morning. I hope you guys are doing fantastic this morning. We are gonna dive into a new social media network. Facebook's changing things up with their news and a whole bunch of other great stuff that's dropping this week. Let's go. If you guys are new to Social Media Morning, not a problem. What we do here is I break down all of the latest news, updates, trends. That way you get everything in a snapshot, quick, 5, 10 minutes, And you're ready to roll with your day. So let's get down to it. If you haven't hit that like button yet, go ahead and smash that for me, and let's get rolling. All right, let's do the news first. So today what we're taking a look at is Fox has come out with this report that says they feel social media should be held accountable for being at least a little bit more proactive in stopping these public mass shootings, mass terrorists, mass any attack on people. They feel like that is a requirement of the social media platforms to do this, and they're looking for. Some kind of a response from any of them, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, as to how they're gonna do better to not only scan for potential attacks, but how they can better inform law enforcement to stop them before they happen. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one, whether or not you feel that's the responsibility of the social media networks, whether that falls on the state or the country in order to make that a legal requirement, how exactly that would work. Let me know down in the comments below what your thoughts are on that. It's an interesting and slippery slope for sure. In other news, we've got a new platform. I know social media platforms are about a dime a dozen these days because everybody's got one, but there's a new one out and this one's a little bit interesting. It has my interest piqued because it is looking to build its backbone financially not off of ads, but the ability to send gifts, presents, and the like. So I'm very interested in it. ZooHoo is the name of the app. They say that they're the next challenger for Facebook. They feel like because it's not so ad-driven, people will be more inclined to genuinely engage on the platform. Which is a big conversation in social media today. So as always, guys, any of the links to these articles, to these things, you can find them down below in the description. Feel free to click through and check it out. In other social media news, Facebook has officially created a news tab. That's right. So instead of you just having your news intermittently dispersed throughout your feed, now there's going to be a dedicated tab exclusively for news. And I assume they will do a better job of examining for bias ahead of time. I know that in past run-up to the American election. There was a lot of issue around fake news or different establishments posting news that hadn't been verified or validated. So I think that the news tab is being put in as a response to that, to give you better clarity about what's opinion pieces and what is news pieces. Hopefully that works. Wait and see how successful that actually is. Let's head on over and take a look at some great content that's dropped. If you guys don't know Pat Flynn, you should. He is He's everywhere. He does podcasts, he does YouTube, he does— I've got his SwitchPod behind me here. The guy does just about everything. He's dropped a new podcast. I love the idea of it. It's Ask Pat Live. Check out the podcast down below. It's a great listen. If you've got, you know, 20, 30 minutes, just throw it on, take a listen. I think he did a great job with it. Some other great content out there. There's a lot of chatter about the Welcome to Arabia hashtag and how well that's being used in order to build some exposure around the Arabian countries and tourism and what a beautiful place it can be, just to give a counter counter-narrative to a lot of the news that we see that's always about war and fighting and explosions. It's a really interesting platform. Talkwalker has done a fantastic article on that, so that's included down below, guys. Last but not least, all of you will remember that Netflix dove into the choose-your-own-adventure style film. Well, YouTube wants a crack at it, and October 30th, I think, they're dropping their version of The Medium. So I expect to see that drop, guys. It's an interesting idea. I was okay with the one that Netflix dropped. It wasn't jaw-dropping by any means, but it's an interesting concept. I'm interested to see what YouTube does with it as well. So check that out, get your thoughts in down below in the comments on whether you think that's gonna be successful or not. Last but not least, guys, if you don't have your tickets to Global Marketing Day yet, it's free, it's online, you can do it from anywhere, and there are tons of great speakers. So if you haven't done that yet, make sure that you click the link down below, get registered, get signed up, and you can attend this conference online. I'll be there. I won't be speaking, I won't be doing the curating, rating, but know that if you follow the hashtag on Twitter, I'll be all over it. But rest assured, there are tons of great speakers that you can see. SEMrush is doing a fantastic job putting it together, so definitely check that out. That's it for today, guys. We still are only into some very new episodes on this, so if you have something that you would like to see, certain things that are not popping up in this, I want to keep it relatively short so you guys can get a snippet in the morning instead of an anthology as to what's happening in social media. If there's something lacking from this program that you want to see, let me know in the comments. I'm going to be listening. Just tag me wherever you want to post. I'm more than happy to see that as well. Guys, good news. The podcast is now available on Apple and all the other podcast channels that pull from that. So hopefully that's easier for you iTunes listeners than hopping into another platform. That approval makes it a lot easier for you guys to grab this on the go and enjoy your Social Media Morning. That's it for today though, guys. Have a kick-ass day and I will catch you tomorrow with another Social Media Morning. Bye.
