God calls faithless Israel back to Him in Jeremiah, moving from anger to mercy. No matter how your day went, the invitation to return to God is always there, always open.
Chapters
Just reading through Jeremiah this morning as I'm waking up and going through the first part of it, and God's calling out to Israel and saying, you've, you've searched for everything but me and are surprised that things are going poorly. I'm here, right? I'm the thing. And then there's this beautiful passage where God cries out through Jeremiah and he says, return, faithless Israel, declares the Lord. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the Lord. I will not be angry forever. Only acknowledge your guilt that you rebelled against the Lord your God and scattered your favors among foreigners under every green tree, and that you have not obeyed my voice, declares the Lord. Return, O faithless children, declares the Lord, for I am your master. I will take, take you, one from a city and 2 from a family, and I will bring you to Zion. Just the chapter before, God was sharing his frustration and his anger and his disappointment and just all of these These things that would be expected in the metaphor that he's using. And then right afterwards, it's just this callback. It's this call of forgiveness. It's this call of love. It's this call of, come back into relationship with me. And it is so beautiful and so encouraging. That, that's what you can wake up to every day. Every day that call's there. Maybe you had a good day yesterday, great. Maybe you had a bad day yesterday, that's okay too. But the call's there, come back to me. It's always there.
