Keynote Prof. Dr. Gerald Hüther: "Wer nichts unternimmt, verliert seine Lebendigkeit"

Prof. Dr. Gerald Hüther argues that living systems strive for coherence — a brain-state where perception, memory, thinking, feeling, and acting fit together, minimizing energy use. Problems are not merely obstacles but opportunities to practice and thereby strengthen a "Kohärenz-Wiederherstellungskompetenzgefühl" (the competence/feeling of restoring coherence). Modern society, by fragmenting life, over-emphasizing what is measurable (longevity, output) and suppressing childhood needs for connectedness and agency, undermines this capacity. Hüther critiques a culture that replaces empathic feeling with cognitive explanations, trains people to become "rechenmaschinen" (computational), and calls for reorienting institutions and entrepreneurship toward enabling people's return to liveliness and self-directed, creative engagement.
