Brendon Burchard (featured in a YouTube video titled 'Success Means Nothing If You Lose Yourself') argues that pursuing ambition without preserving health and relationships is self-defeating. He presents high performance as a balance between external achievements, relationships, and health, criticizes poor time management and distraction, and briefly promotes his "High Performance Plan" as a tool to reclaim time for family, exercise, and sustaining progress.

Are you compromising your health on the pursuit of some ambition? Are you not having as much fun with your friends, your family, your spouse, your relationships as you pursue the ambition? I want you to hear that high performance kind of looks like a little triangle there where you have the external achievements, but you are also improving relationships and improving your health as you strive for the impossible. What most people do when they strive for the impossible, they make their relationships impossible. They make taking care of themselves impossible by not managing their time. That's why I created the high performance plan. I was like, we, we got to get people managing their time better. They're giving away so much time to distraction instead of calling the family, instead of working out for 20 minutes. And so if you are going to stay in progress mode, you need your high performance habits. You need to make sure that you take care of yourself and your relationships as you progress to those next levels. So what does that look like for you? What would make your relationships that much better? What make your health that much better and focus on those as you seek to achieve the important outcomes.
