The DECISION That Makes YOU Different From Everybody Else

The foundational choice for an extraordinary life is a daily decision to live with high quality and serve others. Without that explicit commitment paired with practical habits and staying at your edge, material success feels hollow.

Those who flew here, traveled here, worked hard to get here, took the day off to be in this room. You decided to do the work without that challenge, without that edge, without something to work for or build for or contribute or connect or fulfill. It feels hollow. So let's just be honest. How many months this year did you make the decision to be extraordinary? And that has a lot to do with whether or not you felt wealthy. Because the human mind wants to know. We're living in congruence with the best of who we are. This idea of the wealth mindset, it begins with something I've referenced all year. To our altar members, to our growth day members. The most important thing, the decision, I will keep coming back to that. Those who flew here, traveled here, worked hard to get here, took the day off to be in this room. You decided to do the work. You decided to live a different quality of life. That is the foundation. I decide to live an extraordinary quality of life is the beginning of the wealth mindset. I've made this decision to live an extraordinary quality of life. Extraordinary means something different for everybody. You better know what it is for you. But I've decided I am going to live an extraordinary quality of life and serve others. Now we're into the wealth mindset. Lots of people have an extraordinary quality of life, but they leave behind a gated community. They ain't helped anybody since 1985. And they don't know why they're miserable. It's like, oh, shocking. You take out service and contribution from a wealthy person. They aren't so wealthy, trust me. They have those long, dark evenings of the soul where they can't understand. I have an extraordinary life, but I am unfulfilled because they're not serving others at the levels they know they can. It begins with this. It begins with this. The decision. The decision you have to decide to go to the next level, and you have to serve to go to the next level if you want more wealth, more opportunity, more blessings. And yet. I want to hear. I want you to hear this. This is very controversial. I get it. But. But some of you, you got complacent, and it's hard to understand why you're so unhappy. What this means is sometimes many of us, we start going through the motions. Even though we got the money, we're just kind of going through the motion every day, you know, it's kind of. Every day is kind of the same. We don't put more of ourselves or more energy in. Cause why that's exhausting. And so you've got money, but you're always looking to make life easier. You're always trying to go back to homeostasis and you've disconnected from that part. Like, challenge and level myself up. And some people go, brendan, don't tell them that because then they'll burn themselves out. We'll talk about burnout today, but the wealth mindset is very contrary to burnout. But many of you, it's been too easy for a while. And you're like, I don't understand why I have all this, but I'm not happy. But you don't have challenge. And without that challenge, without that edge, without something to work for or build for or contribute or connect to or fulfill, it feels hollow. Full bank account. But you feel hollow. And that's why the decision as we talked, it's not just to live an extraordinary quality of life, it's to live an extraordinary quality life and to serve. And I know that's in your heart, or you wouldn't be here. You, you wouldn't be attracted to Growth Day. You wouldn't be attracted to the work I do. I annoy the get rich quick people so bad. They hate me. Cause I always talk about service and contribution. They hate me. They don't even show up at my events. It's why I don't even need a no asshole rule. They don't even like me. It's awesome. I don't attract them. They never show up. It's amazing. We just don't get them. We get amazing people. So lucky. We get so lucky. Tell the person after I shake them, say, you're amazing. So lucky. So let's just be honest. How many months this year did you make the decision to be extraordinary? Every day. I like that answer right there. And that has a lot to do with whether or not you felt wealthy. Because the human mind wants to know. We're living in congruence with the best of who we are. The less often we live in congruence with the best of who we are, the more we feel broke. Even if we have material wealth, the decision is to live an extraordinary quality of life to serve others. And that requires us to be in congruence with the best of who we are. You can't live an extraordinary quality life if you're not living in congruence with the best of. Of who you are. So the simple, elegant first off suggestion to you is, if you don't feel wealthy, revisit how often am I living in congruence with the best of who I am. Honestly, was it just Monday, but not Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday? Was it Sunday? Knees on the pews, ready to give, ready to serve, ready to ask for guidance, and then you're a jerk on a Monday. You know, it's the recurrence of this decision. I have to make it every day because I'm somebody. I don't know about you. I can wake up every day and do nothing for the next hundred years. I don't know what it is about me. I wake up, I don't want to do anything. Anyone else. It's not. I'm not depressed. I just. I can puddle and muddle around the house all day messing up my wife's pillows where they're supposed to go, apparently, sitting in five different chairs. I got 12 different cups around the house. Denise comes in the house, she looks, she goes. I just follow the trail. I can tell what you did all day. You know, I'm one of those. I can happily not talk to many people for weeks and weeks on end. I don't have to talk to nobody. I'm happy. Give me a book, a bucket of green tea. I'm happy. I'm so happy with a book and some green tea. You would have thought I won the lottery that day, but I get to have a book and a green tea every day. What are your everyday riches? Because that's a decision, too, to experience everyday riches. Maybe your routine, maybe your workout, maybe your food, maybe your walk with your child. Maybe there's something that. That's your everyday riches and that's just part of you and that fills you up. I'm not saying it's good enough for everything, but maybe if you can make that decision every day, to have some everyday riches that shifts things. Because it's a decision, isn't it? Every day I'm gonna experience some of those. But I'm somebody I could just go through the day with nothing else. More than that, I'm somebody who has to motivate myself to be my best self. Anyone else? Like I have to talk to myself. Okay, Brendan, Come on, little child. Get off the couch. Come on. Go in there. Will you look at your battleboard, please? My battleboard's the big thing on the wall of butcher paper I have with 12 boxes on it. Each box has my personal professional goals, my theme for the month, major activities, things I'm trying to serve or build, and it's all up there. I have to stand in front of it for five minutes. I show up into the studio every day unmotivated. I have to stand it, look at it, and start visualizing and thinking and revving up the engines. I'm a slow person in the morning. Really slow. If you talk to me in the morning, you're like, that kid's dumb. How does he have a stage in la? He's dumb. Have you seen him dance? And so I have to. I have to rev myself up. Well, I have to rev myself up to feel gratitude, too. I have to rev myself up to decide to be the best of who I am each day. Some people say, just be who you are. Just be natural. I'm like, most people's natural. Ain't that inspiring? People get offended by that all the time. No, just follow your spirit and be yourself. I'm like, be yourself is a wonderful precept, but we need other rules too, because being yourself is sometimes also being rude. Being yourself is also sometimes being selfish. Being yourself is also eating 17 jugs of ice cream. Like, there has to be some other rules and boundaries that we set along it. I think it's important. And so I want you to be yourself, but also recognize those parts of yourself that that's not your extraordinary part. If you want to live an extraordinary quality life. Like, let's level up. Can we level up today, ladies and gentlemen? Everyone put both hands up and say, I'm ready. Level up.
