Fear is not holding you back. Your preferences are. Don't tell yourself a story of victimhood. You have preferences in life, and sometimes you need to shift your preferences if you want a higher plane of performance. Like a lot of my preferences, I had to adjust them to the realities of seeking something that's great doesn't mean it is easy. It doesn't mean I don't fall on my face. There's no perfection in life. It's can you calibrate to the most primary important things in your life over and over and over and over again? And the more that you can be consistent about calibrating to what matters in life, the happier you're going to be, the more extraordinary you will be in your craft, in your career, in your mission.
