Why do People Buy? PART 6

Danyls Ngongang explains the sixth human need: contribution. Businesses can tap this by embedding giving into products, like Ali Group Global's back-to-school program for African children, or adding donation prompts at checkout. The homework: design a way your customers can contribute through what you offer.

Hey, my friend, man. We will deal with the last human need and then dive into business, business, business, business, business. But I wanted you to understand this. So as I'm talking about, as I will be talking about, you'll be like, okay, what are you talking about, coach? You know, you talk about the need of this, need of that. No, that's why I spent time on this. I spent almost a week on this just to make sure you understand. Because when we hit the road, it's going to be fast. It's going to be fast. So the last or the 6th human need is contribution. I mean, contribution, the sense of service, of focus on helping, of giving and support others. Today, I mean, big advertising agencies, they understand this, and nonprofits also. Most organizations, they have a way to give it back. Do you know that some people may buy your product just because they know you contribute $1 every $100 or every $1,000? You give $1 to fight against cancer. Or maybe every $100 you give 1 cent to feed the hungry. Or maybe every $1,000, you give $1 so the poor place, poor nation like Latin America, some part of Africa, some part of, you know, of the world can have clean water? Just for somebody to know that, you know what, every soap I buy from this lady, 1 cent goes My 1 cent is going to give clean water in Africa. My 1 cent is going to a nonprofit organization to carry the gospel all over the world. I want you to see this in a, in a different way. If you can give opportunity to your client by purchasing your product to meet the need of contribution They will love you. Every time when I go to Walmart or Walgreens, they say, well, would you donate $1 to a wooden soldier? I say, of course, I donate $5. That's an opportunity for me to contribute. You can do the same thing. Sometimes some store will say, well, would you donate $1 to this nonprofit organization to fight against COVID? I mean, I've been doing that. If I buy something, I'll do it. I will happily do it. I mean, I don't have time to find out, okay, where should I send a dollar for somebody to fight against COVID? But I feel good knowing that I'm part of the movement. I'm part of the people who are giving money to do it. Even if it's just a dollar, it makes me feel good. We have 8 billion, almost 8 billion people on the planet Earth. if you can give them opportunity to contribute. Pick a cause. That can be counseling, that can be clean water, that can just be to build a home, that can be to, you know, feed the hungry, to get people off the street, to carry the gospel all over the world and give opportunity to people to give you money and to contribute through your product. I mean, I used to see this company that I don't know. They went to Africa and just take a picture of some of the very, very angry kids. And every time when they do the advertisement, they will put this kid say, "Man, want to feed them." And I mean, I used to feel bad if I don't give money. I'm sure you have. You probably give money to this company, a nonprofit that use that the the need of contribution. Everybody want to contribute it. To gather money to fund their organization. Some are doing a great job. Some are not doing. But I mean, that's not our problem. But we must, as a business person, your product must give opportunity to people to meet the need. It's just like Ali Group Global. We are preparing kids to go back to school. So every seminar, every book we sell, everything we do, even this, the fund you pay for this program, part of that will go to prepare kids. All our investors, I mean everybody who are part of our organization, they know that part of our money go to that. It makes us feel good. And not only that, anybody who ever pay for a program in Ali Global, They actually contribute to this. It's not us, it's them. It's you, it's not me. Your money is sending kids in Africa, is preparing the back to school, is buying exercise book and the backpack and give to kids to go back to school. By paying for this training you are doing, The 2 billion people want to reach kids and all that. You are affecting them already now. This feels good. Just by knowing that, I'm sure you feel great about this. But that's not the point. I want you to see how you can do the same thing. How could you use your product to contribute? To give opportunity to other people, to contribute in other people's life. Like I say, all of us, we want to help, we want to give, we want to support others, but sometimes we don't know how to do it. You as a businessman, you must give that platform, you must give opportunity through your product. If you have a restaurant, put the little junk on front of your restaurant and just pick one thing. Maybe one child needs surgery and the parent don't have money. Pick 3 kids to pay their school fee and just put that. Say every money will go in there. At the end of the year, we want to pay Johnny. Put Johnny picture on it. Take all that money, put in an account. At the end of the year, take and go pay for Johnny to go to school. Let's give it back. Let people help. Let people, you know, give opportunity to people to give it back through your organization. As a homework, I want you to ask yourself, how can I do it through my product, through my service? How can I give opportunity to other people to meet their need of contribution? How you meet your need of contribution? Because remember, you are the lab. Don't ask people to do what you, you are not doing. All right, see you tomorrow.
