Do This For More Energy | Dave Asprey

Dave Asprey explains how cold showers and breathwork boost energy by improving mitochondrial function and raising dopamine and testosterone levels.
Chapters
Do this for four days straight and just watch how your energy changes. When you're almost done with your shower, turn it all the way to cold. Aim the water right towards your face and your chest, because that's where you have the highest concentration of cold receptors in your skin. Do this for three days for about one to three minutes. Don't worry, you won't get that long the first day, but you'll get there. On day one, you'll make it to about 20 seconds if you're lucky. Day two, maybe 30 or 40 seconds before you feel like your face is going to fall off. On day three, you might survive a minute, but you'll still be swearing the whole time about how much you hate it. Then on day four, suddenly things will change because your mitochondrial membranes have been upgraded. And once you've got healthier mitochondria, life is easier because mitochondria dictate how energy gets allocated in your body. Efficient mitochondria equals more energy. Even better yet, you can stack a cold shower with breathwork to get more energy. And cold exposure by itself can increase your dopamine levels, which in turn can increase your testosterone levels. There is no reason not to do a cold shower, except for that first three days of discomfort. You can do this if you've done it. Comment on how your experience was versus a full ice bath.
