A functional medicine approach to detox uses urine organic acid tests to identify metabolic blockades, then targets them with specific nutrients like B vitamins and biotin. The speaker recommends lemon juice with baking soda to dissolve stored oxalates, and credits this protocol with recovering from severe mold sensitivity after living in a water-damaged house.

You should get a urine organic acid test. And this is something any functional medicine doctor can order. And that's going to tell you how your mitochondria are functioning and where there might be a blockade. And if there's a blockade, we can figure out why. Okay. And it might be you need a certain form of B6 or B3 or any of the other ones, but that's a solvable problem. There's. For most people, though, who can tolerate lemon juice, you do that. And if you take a pinch of baking soda at the end of that, that's really a good thing. So you don't dissolve your teeth, and you can dilute it with water, whatever you want to. You do that because that is a solvent for oxalate in your tissues. But here's what's missing from a lot of the online conversations about oxalate. You also need biotin in order to detox this stuff. So I've been taking higher doses of biotin, and I've been doing lemon juice. It took, like, a couple years. And the more I did that, the more I avoided oxalates, the better and better and better I felt. Even though I'm no longer sensitive to toxic mold like I used to be, I lived in a house with 42 water leaks for four months, and I didn't get sick. What? That's how healed from mold you can be. Yeah, I need to get to that.
