Alicia Mackey Huber skips daily sunscreen in favor of internal strategies: 12-16 mg of astaxanthin daily, grass-fed butter and tallow, the supplement Polypodium, and hormone injections that trigger a tan. She uses mineral sunscreen only when needed and avoids chemical sunscreens that absorb into the bloodstream.

What's my take on daily sunscreen? Man, this is tough. Do you want to live a long time or do you want to look pretty? Well, I know all of my skincare friends, Rachel Vargo was just here in the cold plunge last week. They're kind of fans for it. If you're going to do sunscreen on your face every day, I would highly recommend a mineral based sunscreen, not one that absorbs into your blood. I don't use sunscreen externally, I use it internally. I've been taking higher doses of astaxanthin for many, many years, like 12 to 16 milligrams. Eat tallow and grass fed butter instead of seed oils and you just don't really get sunburned. And there's also an herb you can take that I do take called Polypodium. And then I inject myself with hormone that makes my skin develop a tan without a lot of sun. So I have natural protection and I think it's working.
