This is a YouTube video titled "Why women suffer from UTIs." It contains a discussion between two speakers about the impact of semen on the vaginal microbiome and the relationship between stress from unhealthy relationships and urinary tract infections (UTIs). The conversation explores biological and psychological factors influencing women's health.
Is having semen inside a vagina good for the microbiome or bad for the microbiome?
It's bad, it's bad.
Doesn't it depend on the semen?
Not really, because of the alkaline nature of semen.
Got it. And I've known quite a few women who said, you know, when I'm with a guy who's not the right guy for me, I get these frequent UTIs, and they're not saying it's because, you know, the guy is unhealthy, but, like, the relationship is off. Like, I think my vagina is telling me something.
I mean, you know, again, I'm drawing some longer lines here than my science team would like me to draw. But you could say that stress that's coming from being in an unhealthy relationship is affecting your immune system. And we see very close relationships between the immune system and infections in the vaginal microbiome. So I would say there's probably something there.
