To speak with confidence in front of any size audience, focus on talking to just one person. Radio hosts use this trick with nervous presenters: tell them to ignore the millions listening and just talk to you. It shrinks the room in your head.

Hello, this is Confidence Tip number 67. Just speak to one person. Now, I know that sounds odd. What it means is have the mindset that you're just speaking to one person, no matter how many people are actually in the room. And maybe actually just speak to one person. It may feel a little odd at first, but as your confidence grows, you'll start to be able to speak to more and more people. But start by just speaking to one person. When people go on the radio, for instance, they're often very nervous, but they're often put at their ease by the presenters by saying, just talk to me. It doesn't matter that there's a million people out there listening. Just talk to me. That's the same principle— speaking to one person.
