A pitch is very different from other types of speaking. It needs to be concise. It needs to be crystal clear. And it needs to address within seconds the pain point of the audience. That's what I coach people to do. Pitching is unlike other presentations in that it needs to be well scripted and well delivered. But in well-scripted, that doesn't mean that it has to come across like a script. In fact, if it does, the pitch won't work. There's a great saying that I learnt many years ago from a colleague of mine, and it is, the art is hiding the art. That's what we do with pitching. We look at the art, and then I coach you so that that art is hidden and you come across as real. You come across as genuine. You come across as having integrity, and you come across as knowing your stuff.
Stuff.
