In this YouTube commentary, David argues that Banjo and Kazooie's moveset in Super Smash Bros. is essentially a direct copy of the Duck Hunt character. He walks through several aspects of the character's in‑game behavior—running animation, basic attacks, side‑smash mechanics, ledge grab, and the Final Smash—pointing out visual and functional similarities to Duck Hunt, often describing them as "shameless" or "identical." He also references the broader criticism that Duck Hunt itself copied the Ice Climbers, suggesting a chain of unoriginal design. Throughout, David expresses disappointment and frustration, concluding that the inclusion of Banjo and Kazooie feels like a missed opportunity for a more original character such as Minecraft Steve. The video ends with a typical call to like and subscribe.

Hey guys, it's David here. I have wanted Banjo and Kazooie in Super Smash Bros. for a very long time, and now he's finally here. But there have been a lot of people on the internet that have said things like, "Banjo and Kazooie are just a Duck Hunt clone." And after their extremely sound reasoning and persuasive rhetoric, I gotta hand it to them, they have the last laugh. In reviewing this moveset, I think it's fairly obvious that Banjo and Kazooie are just a copy of Duck Hunt. So today I thought we'd go over the footage that we do have and sort of explore what the similarities are, 'cause there's a lot. So I mean, right away you can see this running animation is an exact duplicate of Duck Hunt's running animation. It's pretty shamelessly copied, I'd say. In fact, there were no deviations that I can even see. Here's some comparison footage to, uh, take a look at that. And next you have some of his attacks. Now, you might say, "Oh, this looks a little different than some of the tilts or special attacks of Duck Hunt." But when you really think about it and when you really look at them, they're actually identical. So that's really disappointing to see. Next we have what appears to be a side smash, and what you have here is just another play between two characters working together. And, uh, I mean, it's just like how Duck Hunt copied Ice Climbers, and I won't even get into that argument. What you see here is another shameless copy, which is really sad because this character, I mean, it is a, uh, an animal and another bird working together, but it seems like there should be some kind of difference, but there really isn't. Even this ledge grab animation is the same. Don't even get me started on the Final Smash. They said, "Oh look, let's put a bunch of Jinjos here and just replace all the other sprites that were in the Final Smash of Duck Hunt." make it the same Final Smash. I mean, I can't believe that they were this blatant about it. So I completely see why people are upset. All this to say, and I hope this was enlightening for you all, if you don't realize that Banjo and Kazooie are just a Duck Hunt clone, then frankly you're just turning a blind eye to the situation here, and it's really gravely disappointing that we got someone like this instead of Minecraft Steve. So anyway, I I hope that you guys were enlightened today. Feel free to hit a like and hit the subscribe button. Thanks for watching.
