A Special Message From Dennis
4 Aug 2024 · 4 min
Dennis Prager argues that emotion-based morality is dangerous, using a dilemma about saving a dog versus a stranger to show why objective moral truth matters. He promotes his book If There Is No God as a rational case for Judeo-Christian values as the foundation for civilization.

Hey everybody, it's Dennis and Julie, but no Julie, so really no Dennis and Julie. It's finally happened. With all the extraordinary amount of travel all over the world, and really constantly, We've never missed a single Dennis and Julie, but it's finally happened. Julie is in Hungary, I'm in Montana, and we had done quite a few in advance, but we missed by one. And it breaks my heart because I don't like missing any of these things. But it's happened, and I, I'm purposely recording this so you'll know that we're aware, and you shouldn't think anything has happened. We will be back, regular place, regular time. I'll tell you what I humbly suggest that you do is watch something from, let's say, a year ago. We hit so many important themes that listening once, I don't think quite suffices. It's as it would be true about anything worthwhile. So if you want your Dennis and Julie fix, I would just suggest picking any, any number. I don't know, number 37, just making up a number. But in any event, I do apologize because we hate missing, but it is what it is. It just did not work out logistically. And we were able to cover all these weeks with Julie in Europe, and, and me also in Europe much of the time, and we had it all covered except this week. But I'll see you next week. We will see you next week. And thanks so much.
Your beloved dog and a stranger are both drowning. You can only save one. Who do you save? Every time Dennis Prager asks that question, his audience splits three ways. One-third chooses the dog, one-third chooses the stranger, and one-third aren't sure.
Why?
Because we live in an age where increasingly feelings define right and wrong. But if morality is based on emotion, then murder, rape, and theft are just opinions. And if people feel justified, why is rioting or destruction wrong at all? In his new book, If There Is No God, Dennis Prager explains why civilizations cannot survive without objective morality. Morality and why Judeo-Christian values shape the moral foundations of the free world.
If you claim that certain things are good, certain things are evil, independent of how you feel about it, you are in effect affirming God.
