This is a YouTube video titled "Derek McGowan - Joining The Mortgage Industry" containing a monologue by Derek McGowan recorded in August 2025. In this personal narrative, Derek shares his journey into the mortgage industry, explaining his background, motivations, and the lifestyle benefits the industry offers.
Nobody goes to college for mortgages. Really? I played baseball when I got a job at a car dealership. I like numbers. I like talking to people. I like helping people out. I thought I was going to go into the finance department or whatnot. And the finance guys, like, you don't want to be tied here forever. You know, you're the last person to leave every single night. You want to have a wife, you want to have family, you want to have kids. And that's also the other beautiful part that this industry gives you. It gives you the financial freedom, but you can also make it what you want. So that drew me into the mortgage world. Had no idea what it would be eight, nine years later, but here we are. It's whatever you make it.
