This is a YouTube video titled "Ep 79 🚨 Buying vs Renting in Today’s Market 🚨" containing a monologue or single-speaker discussion from September 3, 2021, analyzing recent trends in house prices and rent increases, and the financial implications for buyers versus renters in the current market.
House prices have been going crazy today. I want to take a little bit deeper dive. So this time last year, the average home price was 330 grand. That's up to 390 today. Many experts expect a 10% increase each of the next two years, pushing it into the 420s and 470s if things follow suit. Now, it doesn't quite get the same attention or rent prices. They're up 14% in just the last year. And with the cost of goods and labor not slowing down, the person renting today is going to continue seeing large increases in the next couple years. So it's really creating a huge divide. The person buying right now can stop the bleeding, holding their low interest rate, and this is their equity gain. The person renting can not stop. They're going to continue chasing this thing up.
