This is a YouTube video titled "🚨 Homeowners Insurance Policy 🚨" containing a monologue by Barry Nalebuff explaining homeowner's insurance policy requirements related to loan amounts and replacement cost estimates, recorded on March 31, 2022.
You the homeowner get to select your homeowner's insurance policy, there's just a couple guidelines it has to abide by. So, general rule of thumb, you have to have a policy that covers at least the loan amount. So you get a $200,000 loan, you have to have a $200,000 insurance policy. But there's a little caveat to that. If the insurance agent can show what the replacement cost estimate for the house is. So let's use that same example. If it only costs 150 grand to rebuild that entire home, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will allow you to get $150,000 insurance policy. You just have to have that replacement cost estimate from your insurance agent.
