This is a YouTube video titled "New Prices are EXPLODING! Buy Now OR pay More! #mortgage #residentialmortgage #interestrates" created in April 2025. The content is a monologue discussing the current housing market shortage, the impact of tariffs on building materials, and how these factors influence home prices and mortgage rates. It provides an economic analysis aimed at potential home buyers.
To cover the latest updates in the housing market and why it still is the best time to buy a home. Foremost, we are way, way short on new homes. Across the country. As of March 2025, we had just under 1 million new homes available for sale. But to satisfy all the buyers in today's market, we need about 5 million new homes. We are 80% short on the amount of new homes needed. Simple economics, folks. If you're way short on supply, way high in demand, prices go up. And two, it's the tariffs. If the tariffs stick around for a while, that makes building materials more expensive. And the latest estimates show that the price of a new home, if tariffs stick around to the end of the year, could go up by $15,000. That of all the homes around the new home go up as well. If the tariffs do their job and they're short lived, that means other countries reduce their tariffs on the US making it more affordable, which means inflation goes down, which means mortgage rates go down, and there's a flood of new buyers waiting for that and prices skyrocket.
