This is a YouTube video titled "The American Gift event - Derek speaking about: Consistency" containing a monologue or speech by a single speaker discussing the parallels between sports, particularly baseball, and business, emphasizing the importance of consistency and emotional resilience in the mortgage industry. The content is motivational and reflective, focusing on mindset and performance.
I believe there's so many parallels in sports and business. Eddie and I have had some really good conversations about this. He's a big baseball guy. I used to play baseball. There's so many parallels. I think any of us. Whether you guys give a crap about baseball or not, it's not really the point. It's just that think about it, the basics of baseball. You're doing a hell of a job if you get on base 3 out of 10 times. So you get a hit 3 out of 10 times. I think that resonates so much in the mortgage industry, where think about how many shitty conversations you might have, or somebody pisses you off, or there's so many stressful things, but you just have to keep going. I didn't play in the big leagues, but the first big league guys I practiced with, I was like, what the fuck are you guys doing that's different than what we're doing? And they're like, everyone has the same talents, the same capabilities. Anybody can hit a home run on this field, whether you're big leagues or minor leagues. The difference is the big league guys, they go out there every single night and they know consistently that they could do it. That's it. Otherwise, like the. The people with the lower levels, they wear their emotions on their sleeve. They get ruffled by those things, oh, I suck, or oh, I'm amazing. I love the quote of picking your head up during the lows and putting your head down and working during the highs. I think that resonates a lot in this industry.
