This is a YouTube video titled "What will happen as Interest Rates Drop π" containing a monologue or single-speaker commentary recorded on November 23, 2022. The speaker discusses the impact of Federal Reserve rate hikes on inflation, consumer spending, mortgage rates, and the housing market, emphasizing the strategy of buying homes now and refinancing later as interest rates decline.
The Fed's rate hikes certainly seem like they're working. Heck, Subway used to have $5 footlongs, and now they're $15. So as consumers, every day when we leave the house, I think we see goods and services are more and more expensive. And this means, as consumers, we're going to stop spending quite as much or doing as much on those goods and services, which will then mean inflation will start to come down, which is what we've all been waiting for. As inflation continues to come down, so do mortgage rates. But as rates have skyrocketed, many buyers are on the sidelines. There's a lot of p up demand, and home builders have stopped building. So we're still way short on homes. And as soon as interest rates drop back down, the buyers flood back into the market. We are still way short on homes, and that's going to be a buying frenzy all over again. So it's really important to look one step ahead of what's to come. So the best combination is today's home price. There's way less competition. And next year's interest rates, as they continue to get down. The only way to get the best of both worlds is buy today, refinance then. I know it's cliche, but there is a lot of substance to that.
