One of the most important things when finding a good mortgage lender is someone that will listen and understand your wants and needs and then has options and know how to put those together to make your dreams come true. For example, we had a family this week that is in a 20 year mortgage right now. The payments getting tight, they can't afford it anymore. They wanted to see if they could refinance and lower their rate in payment. Well, they bought a few years ago where the market was better, so there's no better rates today. But we showed them what a 30 year option would look like to stretch their payment out a little further and give them breathing room on their monthly payment. That helps save them a few hundred dollars a month and that helped keep their house from going into foreclosure. Also have a family that has a spouse and three kids in a 900 square foot house. They need more room. So we weighed the options of doing a HELOC versus buying a new house. We determined that there's just not enough equity in their current house to get the money they need from a HELOC to add on. So they got to buy another house. But we have options both ways. So it's super important to find a lender that knows your wants and needs and can put them together to make your dreams come true.
