Day In The Life Of an eCom Entrepreneur - EP 2 (Greece)

This is a YouTube video titled "Day In The Life Of an eCom Entrepreneur - EP 2 (Greece)" created in September 2024. It features Devin Zander and his wife Patricia documenting their daily life and travels in Greece, including their experiences with accommodations, local cuisine, leisure activities, and business updates. The content is a personal vlog-style narrative with multiple speakers, primarily Devin and Patricia, sharing insights into their lifestyle as entrepreneurs and travelers.
Got to our flat, apartment, whatever, in Athens. Funnily enough, this is. This is not our first day in Greece. This is our second day here. The first apartment was just a little small for our liking, so we rebooked. So now we have two apartments in the nicest area of Athens, Kolonaki. This place, much larger, much better. The view from this side is a little underwhelming overall, though. Airline lost our luggage, so we were without luggage. Then we just got our luggage. I have really not slept yet, but it's exciting to be here. I finally feel now that we have our luggage, like, I can relax, I can shower, I can change my clothes. Patty. I just came to visit Patty. She's staying at her second apartment because we're having a huge fight right now. So WI Fi is not working for her at our other apartment for some reason. And this was where we originally planned on staying. However, it's like 300 square feet or so. It's very pretty. It's nice. Like, it's. It's very modern. My wife, my lovely, beautiful wife here is a therapist, and she needs privacy when she's working. And so this is, you know, significantly smaller than our other apartment, which is, you know, like 1100 square feet in a city very similar to New York. Anyways, all right, I'm gonna hang out with my wife before next session. We're gonna drink some cava. Then I'm gonna walk back to the other apartment, so see you guys. We are out here in what feels like the first normal day in Athens. Finally got to sleep. It's like, what, our fourth day?
Yes.
Today we woke up, got coffee, nothing crazy. Headed to Vertigo Pool Club, which is something that we sign up for every time we visit Athens. This beautiful rooftop pool at the top of the St. George Hotel in Kolonaki. Then we're going to get out of the city later today, head over to Glyfada. We got a resort type deal on the beach. We're going to spend the weekend over there. Patty, what are your thoughts? How are we feeling?
Ready to take on the day. Honestly, I'm ready to get into some water. It's miserably hot out here.
100 degrees every day. Hotter than Florida somehow. All right, we're arriving at the hotel. We have one last set of stairs to go up. Patty is dying inside. She's working on those legs. She doesn't have those muscular legs. And here we are. We reached the pool.
Door open.
Well, look, everything's open here. So this is the view from the pool club. Here we're up at basically the top of a huge hill and at the bottom of a mountain. So if we were right there, this is Mount like a Bettis. Yeah. So just hanging out for a couple hours until we can check into the resort that we're gonna head to. Beautiful day. It's €440 for two people to come here for a month. So it's not bad. You know, if you need a pool, get away from the 100 degree weather, that's the way to do it. Baby. We have left the pool. How are you feeling? Good.
Cool down.
Incredibly hot. Now we are walking to the grocery store. Now we're going to relax, hang out, get ready to go to the beach and hang out. Check INS at 3. It's currently 1205 in the afternoon. So it's like what, 5am Eastern?
Yeah.
So hang out, get ready. We are in Greece, which is like the home of western philosophy. And so we brought some philosophy books. Not all of it western as you can see here. But let's see, we have the obstacles, the way. So Ryan Holiday classic. If you need an intro to let's say stoicism, this is it. The Bhagavad Gita. This is an excellent book that my wife introduced to me, which I highly recommend. It is a great introduction to Indian spirituality, philosophy and just Eastern philosophy in general. The War of Art. Now this is by Steven Pressfield. Patricia just delivered lunch. Amazing. Thanks, babe. We have the War of Art. If you're an entrepreneur, must read. Okay, this is Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I've got many different translations. This is an annotated edition. So you can see it's got all these different annotations. And then finally last we have breakfast with Seneca. This is Beat Up. This is one of my favorite books. I highly recommend it. As you can see, I take notes up in this bad boy. This is a great book, a must read. And again, it's another very easy primer to stoicism. It's an amazing book. Highly recommend it. Very underrated. Not a lot of people have read this one. Another one of my favorites, Seneca on the shortness of life. Life is long if you know how to live it. But yeah, okay, basic breakdown. Philosophy to read while you're on the trip. All right. Patty and I had some time to kill before we go to the hotel, so we went to a bake shop. What's the dude's name? Patty?
Stelios.
Sweet alchemy. Okay, so this guy is famous here in Greece for his Baked stuff. I don't know. He's got, like, his own TV show and stuff. And this is what we got. Patty, why don't you point it out to us? Here.
Got a cappuccino, chocolate mousse.
Okay, that's mine, obviously, is like a vanilla mousse. Now it's time. She's got the spoons. All right, feed me. Let's see, you guys. Oh, God. See, this is why I shouldn't be doing it by myself. All right, that's amazing. Okay, men first, obviously. This is a new America. Feminism's dead.
This is amazing.
Describe it to us. What's the mouth feel familiar? Flaky. No, that doesn't sound familiar at all. All right, guys, well, that's enough. We're gonna enjoy this, eat this, and then we're gonna call an Uber to go to the hotel. I don't know if we're recording. All right, we just got to our hotel room. I would like to say that we're experiencing it for the first time with you guys, but the very nice lady at reception had to walk us through and tour everything. Initial thoughts before setting the expectations for everybody.
It's amazing. So beautiful. So excited to stay here. The staff has been so accommodating and welcoming so far, too.
She. We're learning how to act. So this is the room. We just got in here. This is our room. It is outstandingly beautiful. This is the most beautiful part. She's wearing a Dragon Ball Z shirt. I find that highly arousing. Here we have the bathroom. This is our pet monkey. We call him Rufus. She, shower and toilet. And of course, the patented Greek toilet bin where you put your toilet paper because the plumbing cannot handle. Yeah, so that's it. All right, ladies and gentlemen, we are going out. The first order of events. Patty, what are we doing? Say it in Greek.
I don't know.
Bowling. You gotta say we are going bowling.
Are going bowling.
Going to say it in Greek, man.
Man, I don't know how to say it in Greek.
Wow. What are you paying for all those lessons for?
Good question.
Well, we're starting the evening with some bowling. All right. We didn't record anything last night, so that's no fun, but 8am here, we just got up because breakfast was just delivered. We got, I don't know, just toast, I think. Ham, jamon, French toast, some coffees. Patty got a Fredo espresso, which is like milk and sugar. I got a Greek frappe, which is good. We got some eggs, French toast. I think we already talked About. And a bacon, sausage, ham, omelette. Yeah, good times. Time to go get some pasta right beneath our apartment. Hi. What are you getting? I'm getting the pasticho.
I think so. Or the carbonara. How excited are you?
Patty, show the people what we got.
This is a real treat for us. So we got some pastichio here.
Open it up.
It's like a deconstruction. Dropped it. Pasticho, for those of you that don't know, pasticho is like a Greek lasagna of sorts.
We'll show the people. M, that's mine. It's the real manly dish.
That sounds good.
Yeah, that's right.
Because carbonara, which is also a Greek treat.
Dude, carbonara, it's. Anybody who knows is it's Italian. They serve it with peas and bacon and sometimes chicken and sometimes shrimp. So this is so good. That's right. Okay. Out here in Athens, going to see corn tonight. It's going to be soon. All right. It is time for a special night. We've got. What is it called?
Patty on a pizza.
It's pizza. So this is what we call American night. We also have some wine to go with the pizza. Would you get the prosciutto?
Got prosciutto and mozzarella and mushroom. It's actually some of the best wine we've ever had and it comes in a two liter bottle.
That's mine. The pepperoni pizza. You know what we say, baby? Hashtag winning. It's time for me and this beautiful young lady to drink some wine, eat some pizza and watch Game of Thrones. Actually, it's House of the Dragon, I guess. But dude, we're behind. It is like what Wednesday? New episode came out on Sunday. We need to catch up. What's up, fam? We're here at what was once our favorite restaurant here in Athens. You get to sit on the floor. It's a lot of fun. It's vegan. Last time we came here, I was still vegan, so. So we're gonna get a bottle of wine, get some food, hang out. But sitting on the floor is just so fun. It's like a nice communal vibe. But no one else is here. Patty, how are you feeling?
Honestly, very nostalgic. It's very sweet and it's. I don't know, I'm excited to be here.
It's awesome here, honestly. Definitely. Check it out. It's called avocado. So if you ever come to Athens, come check it out. Alright. We decided to do just appetizers. Patty's Got her wine. I suppose I should get mine too. Some red wine. And then we got the falafel plate. Yes, very Mediterranean indeed. Well, cheers. We're out here, about to have an amazing time, amazing weekend out on the islands and. Yeah. Any parting words?
I'm so excited.
That's it. The first class seat on the boat. We have stopped for lunch. Finally. Long trip. Even more difficult time getting to the Airbnb. But we made it. Almost didn't make it. Don't feed him. Don't do it. He's angry. What up, gang? We just got to the Airbnb here in Paros. You know, we're living inside of like a cave, basically, is my beautiful wife, Patricia. Say hello.
Hello.
Great. Let's go take a look. We got a, you know, bathroom. Another bathroom. This is our bedroom. If it was not obvious, then we have the view, ladies and gentlemen, way up here in Paros. Let's go outside. About to. Got our own little private pool here. About to take a dip. Got a little pool bed on the other side over there. Private infinity pool. Okay. For. For us Americans. What is that?
White wine.
We got the white wine out here by the pool. We were feeling a little sketchy, you know, it's glass. What are you gonna do? But we didn't have any other options. There's no plastic. I have to go for a quick dip in the pool, maybe get the drone out. I just watched the sunset. I did, like a little time lapse of it, but it was hella gay. So. Time for dinner, though. All right then. Well, we're gonna go down there. See that way down there? We're gonna get some dinner.
All right, what are we doing?
Shots of Uzo.
How do you say it in Greek?
Yep.
Yummy.
All right, it's the end of our first night in Paros. What do we got, babe?
Got some garlic here.
What's it look like?
It's like a custard infilo dough.
Amazing. And I got. What is it? I can't. Baklava. Yeah, that's right. That's right. We're getting knives. Yeah. It's time for bed. I think we got some drinks, some wine and some dessert to finish off the night. Beautiful view and an even better view over here. And. Yeah, that's it.
Say goodnight, guys.
All right, well, it's like 7:25 in the morning. Patty's sleeping. And so what I'm gonna do is walk all the way down to the village here and get some coffee and walk back. Walk downtown, work off. All the drinking, the baklava and all the nonsense. But anyways, yeah, it's beautiful morning out. So not every day you get to do a walk with something like this. So yeah, I'm going to go enjoy it now. Listen to some Andy for salvation. I made it back home. We got Patty here. Patty, how big of a surprise was it that I.
It was a shock.
I brought you your favorite coffee home. Now you didn't have to drink Devin's nasty cold brew, which of course you know your boy got, even though we already had some in the fridge. But a journey needs to have a reward. What I'm saying, it's time for breakfast. My beautiful wife Patricia has cooked us some breakfast. What do we got, babe?
Got some eggs, some peaches, some Greek yogurt, a little baby ant.
Oh, baby ant. We gotta get some chocolate. And I have the same, except I've got more cold brew. Let's go. And so we will be renting a four wheeler and going around the beaches on the island. So. Yeah, good times. Oh my God. I'm different. Oh God. Well, we rode our four wheeler here. First one. It is indeed windy outside, so riding the four wheeler, scary. Yeah, whatever she said. Show us on the map. Amazing. Hey guys, it's been a long day. We're now relaxing at the Airbnb. We're at the other side of the pool, just chilling. We got dinner in like three hours. Then we're going to stay here and do a time lapse of the sunset and drink some wine I think. So anyways, I got my book here, the Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie, which is all wet from our adventures today and you know, probably ruined. So whatever. But beautiful day. We got the pool, we're straight chilling. Gotta check on the businesses and stuff like that too because it's now 8:30 Eastern in the morning, so about to be opening time at 9am so. Well, I guess it's Saturday, but I still gotta check in on everything. I'm confused. I don't even know what day of the week it is. Yeah, all right, bye.
Well, folks.
Oh God. Oh my God, she's done. What's up guys? Just a quick update on the store while we're waiting for Patricia to get ready. Got the dashboard pulled up here. Stats since getting to Greece. God, the phone is all messed up. It looks like. Well, whatever. Yo, dudes and doodads, dogs, cats. Let's take a quick look at the store. So we've been here since July 15th. It's be to going currently July 27th, some stats camera can't pick up the screen very well, but about $122,281.41 in sales in the past 12 days. So. Well, that's including today and this is east coast time. So right now it's still like 10:00am there, but you know, a little over $10,000 a day. I think it's safe to say between that and some of the other businesses client work, Scott, averaging around 6,000 ish, $7,000 a day in profit feels good. It's really nice to be on vacation. It's really nice to be out here. But you know, as a business owner, it's always in the back of your mind. Like it's. It's impossible to fully enjoy myself and fully immersed just because in the back of my mind I'm like, I want to work, I want to see what's going on. And you know, if you want to make a lot of money, that that's going to be part of it. And I think eventually you can unplug when you retire and stuff, but I'm nowhere near there. You know, I've not hit goals. And so as much as I can say that this is like the dream vacation. And I haven't worried once, you know, like we've making good money, we haven't been working a ton, but it's always in the back of your mind, you know. And I wouldn't have any other way because this and being stressed about work and not being able to maybe fully enjoy my vacation 100% is way better than working for someone else. And I don't think that'll ever change. We got Coke zero on deck. Can caffeine free. We're about to go to dinner, so it's going to be a good night. It's our last night here in Paros. Back to Athens tomorrow. I kind of miss civilization, even though it's beautiful here. I'm a city boy. What can I say? All right, see you guys.
Hey, where are we off to?
We are off to go to the fort to go get some dinner and hang out. We got our broom. Broom and we. Oh, God. Well, last night here in Paros, how was?
Was amazing. I'm so tired, though, which I feel like just illustrates how great this place was.
And now it is time to end the evening our last night here with some suits, wine, and we just watched the sunset. So back to Athens we go. Yeah. Kiss me. Oh, yes. And fly home early. Grandma. My grandma who raised me came down with the case of pneumonia and kidney failure from COVID So booked a first class flight home. Leaving a couple weeks early. Actually, like a month early. Gonna go visit grandma. It's really sad. I miss my wife already. She's staying here. She's gonna do everything that we'd planned on doing. She'll be doing it by herself. So she's. I'm flying back to Tampa today. She's flying down to Crete. She's taking the GoPro, so hopefully she has some fun. But we're gonna go visit my grandma and pick up my dog and just enjoy the flight home probably. I'm like, deathly afraid of flying, I'll be honest. So maybe drink some wine and try to pass out. So, yeah, see you. Kind of sucks, but we'll see you guys back in Florida. We got some wine already in the business lounge. Drinking the free wine. Currently in the Delta one lounge, which you get from first class. Waiting for a shower to be available. Texting my wife pictures. So we are here in JFK. We're in the Delta 1 first class lounge. And I have a little private shower here ready for me to go so I can be all fresh and ready when I land in Tampa. This is nice. And I'm going to shower now. I'm going to get undressed. You guys don't want to see this. Just kidding. I know you do want to see it, but I'm not going to let you because that's for my wife's eyes only. Well, guys, I would say that the shower was a huge success. Although one thing that I will say is that I was told that there was a dental kit, floor shaving kit. I. I don't. I don't know where it is. It's not here. It's not here. It's not here. It's not even over there. It's not there. It's not there. It's. I even checked up here. It's not there. Guys, I'm gonna have to wait three hours to brush my teeth. I've never been more inconvenienced in my life. Just kidding. I mean, it was completely fine. Like, I'll definitely be okay. It would have been nice. It would have been nice. But we'll be fine without it. So anyways, yeah. Shower. Cool. Delta one lounge. Nice. Worth it. Oh, right. We're home. It is midnight, which means it's 7am Athens time. I get up at 6am Athens time. So we are officially awake for 25 hours. The cat is here. Is he even excited to see me? Hey, buddy. Hey, I miss you. Yay. Look at you. Boo. Yay. So don't worry. Someone's been coming in and checking on them in the three weeks I've been gone. Anyways, guys, it's time for this dude to go to bed. This is the end of the Athens trip. My wife is still out there living it up, but I am going to bed. See you guys.
