An Exciting New Way To Market Your Photography Business - Unboxing

In this video, Don Orkoskey of WDO Photography shares how a seemingly spammy LinkedIn outreach turned into a discovery of Printavision’s interactive video mailers. After contacting the company’s CEO Devin and COO Jen, Don receives a well‑packaged box containing two video mailer samples. He unboxes the product, highlighting its sleek design, built‑in charger, and optional autoplay video with optional audio. Don explains how the mailers can serve as powerful leave‑behind marketing tools for photographers, videographers, and service‑industry businesses such as banks, real‑estate offices, car dealerships, and financial services firms. He contrasts the mailer with traditional portfolio delivery methods—printed books, CDs, and simple website links—arguing that a tactile, video‑enabled piece captures attention better than digital screens. While noting the mailers are not cheap, he emphasizes their potential ROI in client‑facing waiting‑room scenarios. Don discloses he is not currently an affiliate of Printavision, though that may change, and encourages viewers to check the product via links in the description.

Hey, it's Don from WDO Photography, and if you're a business owner like me, you're most likely on social media, including sites like LinkedIn, where you may be receiving a ton of messages that frankly are spam or even phishing attempts. So it's natural to be a little suspicious when you open up those messages, right? And that's the attitude that I approached this message with that I got the other day. So this gentleman reached out and he said, hey, I'm reaching out to photographers and videographers and I have this great product And I really think you'll like it. We have used this to help companies in the yacht industry really boost their sales. And I thought, what does the yacht industry have to do with photography and videography? Now, sales is pretty universal to business. Obviously, we all have to make sales in order to have income, right? So I thought, yeah, I'm not so sure about this, but it definitely wasn't a phishing attempt, so why not? I'll bite and see what this guy has to say. So I said, sure, I'm interested in hearing more. And I'm really, really glad that I did because we met, he showed me this product, and honestly, it's awesome. And I just received a package from them that has some samples in it. So I wanted to do an unboxing to show you guys what it is, this product that, that they sent me. The company, by the way, is Printavision. So if you need something to do while I'm opening this incredibly well-packed box here, then, you know, maybe open up another tab and Google them. Again, I have— you can see I haven't opened this box yet. It is packaged really well to keep what's in there in really good shape. So I'm excited to see it when I actually get it open here. But again, like, you know, it's, it's one thing when, when we open these messages, especially there's these messages that are like, oh, maybe you would like to be a franchise owner or, or whatever. And, you know, you get that stuff all the time. And wow, this looks great. This package, again, this packaging is great. So let me sit my scissors down there. So here's what we got. Nice little message here from Devin, which was the gentleman that I talked to, and Jen, the COO. Devin's the CEO. Let me show you exactly what this is. Sit that down. There's also a charger in here, which tells you that this is something electronic, right? Again, very nicely packaged. There's some instructions in here and in the bottom of the box. So I'm gonna hold on to that. Carefully unwrap all this stuff here. Wow, they sent me 2 of these. And these guys are no joke, I'm telling you. Um, they have some major clients, not just in the yachting industry, by the way. And I know I keep bringing that up, but really it was one of those things that hit me like You know, I'm nowhere near yacht industry levels, right? I'm not, I'm not making, you know, these multimillion-dollar boat deals, right? I'm just an event and portrait photographer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I teach photography as well. And it really, it really struck me that like, this is, this seems like something that's, you know, way beyond. But hearing Devin's pitch and seeing this stuff. So here's, here's the outside of one of the 2 that they sent me. And let's open it up and I'll show you what it is here. So I'm just gonna turn that volume down so you can hear me talk. This is a promotional piece for the Seattle Marlins. You see their sponsor KeyBank is, is You know, huge on there. And as you can see, when you open it up, it begins to autoplay. I think that that's optional. I know that including audio on there is optional. But think about the power of this from a marketing standpoint. So where I got really excited is in the ability for myself, first of all, to be able to have leave-behinds. And they make these in business card sizes on up to, you know, large boxes that you can have, you know, other material inside of. I'll put a link into the— in the description to these, but to their website where you can check out all the stuff that they have. But what really really excited me about this is I have clients like those in the financial service industry, right? I have clients that see their own clients come in and sit in the waiting room and wait for their, you know, sales agent or whoever to come up and talk to them. So something like this, I think, is just revolutionary for those situations. For myself, I think of— because I've been in this business for a long time, In the early days, we actually had printed portfolios, and we would take those and drop them off and ask to schedule a meeting if they liked our work, right? That was replaced by CDs, DVDs, and then just by sending people a link to your website. So you didn't even go in the door, you didn't meet with anybody, you just sent them a link to your website, to your portfolio, and that's basically how things work today. But think about how that works. If you're on your computer, you're looking at somebody's portfolio, all your notifications, bing, bing, bing, are popping up and your attention is drawn away from that work, right? But if you have something like this that you can take and drop off, now again, these are not super inexpensive, right? They cost some money. But, you know, portfolios back in the day, you might have 3, 4 portfolios in rotation, even mailing them sometimes. With the expectation that you were gonna get those back. So this is something— this is an idea that I love because you could do something like that with these, whether you're a photographer or a videographer. You could do that, right? So leave behind portfolios that you can come back later and pick up where there's nothing else here but your promotional material, right? If you've gone into a bank or any other place where you're sitting and waiting for something, Car dealerships, right? You're waiting to see somebody. If you've got something like this that you can pick up, actually hold and look at and read while this video is playing, it's going to have much more impact on you than those TVs that are just around you that we're also used to, right? So very cool stuff. Since they sent me another one, let's look at that one too. It says Accelerate Your Accent. Here it is.
Old way, postcards that are camouflaged by the rest of the junk mail. New way, Printavision mailers with screen open.
So again, I'm turning, turning that volume down so that you can hear me talk. And again, I think that that's an optional thing with the autoplay. I know it's optional to put audio on there at all, but this is a folder, so you can put Your material in here that you want to have as an actual leave-behind, but then there's also this video that's going to grab the person's attention. Again, think about this in a real estate office, right? Or any other sort of office where you're going for different services, where you're sitting there waiting, right? Being able to pick this up, hold on to it, having this slid across the table, to you so that you can check it out and read it. You know, having something in your hand just feels so much better. So again, this is Printavision, and I highly recommend you check them out. Let Devin know that I sent you there. I am— full disclosure, I'm not an affiliate at this point. That may change. I know that was something that he and I talked about, but just briefly. So So, and the reason for that was because, again, I think that my clients could really, really benefit from something like this. So, and I wanna push that out to them. That's why I'm making this video. Like, again, there's no relationship at this point with these guys other than them sending me these samples and me wanting to show you all how powerful these could be for your business or for your clients as well. So, again, I'll put that stuff down in the description. And check it out and give me a follow, like, subscribe, all that stuff. And I'll see you next time. Thanks so much.
