In this motivational monologue, Donna Brown urges entrepreneurs—especially solopreneurs—to view their businesses as direct extensions of their personal values and as tools for social good. She argues that businesses are not separate from the individual; the values, conscience, and purpose of the owner shape the enterprise. Brown highlights how fear and competition perpetuate suffering and discrimination, and she calls listeners to recognize their implicit complicity when they do nothing. She proposes a concrete call to action: generate income, then deliberately allocate resources toward causes such as human rights, animal welfare, clean water, and clean air. Drawing on a Marcus Aurelius quote about gratitude and the privilege of life, she frames mindful living and love as the foundation for using one’s gifts to effect change. The talk balances philosophical reflection with practical encouragement, emphasizing that lasting happiness comes from purposeful contribution rather than material accumulation.

Hi everybody, it's Donna Brown, and I was hoping to get a little further on in this video before, before the tears. Camera asked us to post some videos. About our business, and with a call to action. And the only call to action I can think of that makes any sense is to stand up for change. Make your business. An extension of yourself and your ability to do good. Don't ever think that you don't make an impact, and don't ever think that your business is separate from who you are, especially as what people like to call solopreneurs or individual entrepreneurs, single entrepreneurs. You are your business. Your values are your business's values. Never ever forget that. We have a chance to make a difference. And I would encourage everybody to think about themselves and the way they bring themselves to the world through their business as something that is not separate from social consciousness, social awareness, Social justice. So much of what goes on is based on fear, and competition is based on fear, and fear breeds fear. There are many people being discriminated against throughout the world in so many different ways. Children who live in fear in violent homes, husbands or wives who live in fear. There are so many people who live in fear, and we can help them. We cannot build our happiness On the fear and suffering of others, and you may think you do not do it directly, but by doing nothing, we are all accomplices in this. So whenever you write something, whenever you try and get new clients. Remember your ability to change the world for the better. And it may sound really, really weird, and I know a lot of people are finding it really, really hard to work today and to think of other things. But ask yourself, what are you doing and how can you impact the world in a positive way through your business as an extension Like as an extension of who you are, the way your arm is, or the way your words are, or your heart and your ability to love. I didn't introduce myself because it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter who I am. I could be anybody. It doesn't matter, my website or my Facebook group or anything that I have to offer. They do matter. They do matter in the measure that I am able to help people to be an agent of change in the world. So add that to your business. Make it the core of your business. Because that's what it really should be. Business is a weird thing. It has a bad, it has a bad name to it in a lot of ways, and some of it is well deserved. But there's actually nothing positive or negative about a business. It's what you do with it and what you make of it. There is not a luxury vacation or handbag or a dollar amount in the bank that will ever. Make you happy. Never ever forget that or get confused. Momentary sensorial pleasures will never change the fact that— or will never bring you lasting happiness. Working for others, helping, using your ability to do whatever it is you do, yes, to generate income. Generate as much as you can. And then use it. Use it wisely. Use it for other people. Yes, use it for yourself and your family. I'm not saying everybody should walk around, you know, shoeless like the San Franciscans, like the Franciscan monks or something like that. I'm not asking you to do that. I am asking you, this is my call to action, use what you create for good, for people's rights, for animals' rights, for the, for the For clean water, for clean air, for everything, for anything, because it's all connected. It's all connected. I was reading a quote by Marcus Aurelius that says, when you arrive— well, it's obviously translated from Latin— when you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive, to breathe, to To think, to enjoy, and to love. So my call to action is to do that. To think, to breathe, to enjoy, and to love. And to use your business and your gifts to make a difference. The incredible we are freeing ourselves from a vision of only large corporations being able to make an impact to everybody being able to make an impact. And by taking back our own power to determine our own happiness, our own way of life, our own lifestyle, our own way of creating abundance for ourselves and for our family. Never forget that you are a part of this. You are part of everything. So, I guess there's more than one call to action. Be an agent of change. Be an agent of good. And just be happy to be alive. And be thankful that you're here today. And do what you can. Thank you.
