Action vs Law of Attraction - How to Get Yourself in a State to Make Things Happen

Donny Rouse explores how to combine action with emotional alignment to reach your goals. He uses personal stories and analogies to show why mindset matters as much as what you do, and how to get yourself into the right state to make things actually happen.
Most people spend their entire life stressed without ever giving a single thought as to what it is they really want or what's important to them. See, I'm here to cut through all that noise, connecting you to yourself and the life that you were meant to live. I used to slave away at a corporate job that I hated, but I broke through the social norms and pursued my passion. As a result, I own my own coffee company. I'm Espresso Sommelier, and I get to travel the world. You too can live a life that you love, but it starts with getting clear about what you want. It starts with a new decision. I'm your host, Donnie Rouse, and you're listening to the podcast One Life. Action versus Law of Attraction. Which is more important, taking action or getting yourself in the state of feeling? With the Law of Attraction, it seems to be this kind of tug of war at times, right? Because when you take good action, action actually will propel you forward and will give you some feedback. And that feedback will often lead to a correction or a new action. But when you do the Law of Attraction or you get involved or connected to the emotion of whatever it is that you want, that feeling brings in new things. But it requires you to take action, right? It requires you to do something, right? Nothing is just going to come to your life as a result of this positive thinking. You have to be receptive and you have to move. Pray, but move your feet. So which is more important? Which should you do first? I had a conversation with my friend Ryan. He's listening to this audiobook, and the person in the audiobook was saying, don't just feel the thing. Take the action first of what you want to become. When he had told me this, I thought about it for a second. I don't know if I necessarily agree with that. Before I go there, I want you to think of something in your life. Think of something that you're extremely proud of, something that you're extremely passionate about, something that has value. And what I mean by value is there was an effort that you had to put forth. It's something that it connects with you at your core, emotionally. Like a passion, maybe. What was it when you went towards or went to achieve this thing or go after it? What came first, the action or the law of Attraction? The emotion of it. We were having a conversation. He was sharing me this, what he had just heard in this book. And I told him, well, I agree with it, but I also disagree with it. You see, action can move you forward. Action could create and open new Doors of opportunity. Because every action, like I said, gives a feedback. It's a feedback loop. You take an action, you get a feedback loop. Did it work? No. Do you need to take a different action? Maybe. Yes. And then you keep going in it and you keep going, going, going until you get to wherever it is that you're trying to go. It's a constant refinement. But the law of attraction, the feeling of the result that you want, is that more important? Right. Because the action you take is directly related to your emotional state. Said differently, the action you take is directly related to your belief in being able to have the thing that you want. So if you want to live in Europe, right? But you have this belief system that, you know what, it's just never going to happen. There's no way you're going to be able to create an online business or make money living in Europe. And you have this story that you're telling yourself. The chances of you taking action to try to make that your reality are likely not. Or if you do take action, you're going to take the action without ever believing that it's going to work. So you might as well not take any action at all. Right? So I kind of just answered the question right there. Because if you take the action without the belief, the feeling of it, you're going to take a small action step and then you're just going to literally retract back to where you were. I was in. This is actually the perfect, the perfect comparison. So I was, I went out to dinner. I was with my friend Ginger. We went out to a pizzeria and we were talking to the owner of the pizzeria, and he was just telling us how he had gotten these, these pizza ovens. And when he purchased it, they said they invited him over to Italy. They said, here, come up. We'll. We'll teach you how to make pizza and we'll come up with a recipe for dough that is specific to the environment that you are creating the pizza in. Meaning like gas or wood fired, whatever it may be, and depending on what kind of crust that you want, right? So that is the result that he's after. So he was there and he said he was playing around with all these different recipes. And one of the things that they were told was that whenever you're doing dough, when you're refrigerating, you prep the dough and you refrigerate it, you have to bring it out and you have to keep it at room temperature for a while, because if you don't what happens is that the dough will retract, right? So you spread the dough on the pizza pan, and all of a sudden, the dough will literally shrink. It'll start to go back into that ball in which it was initially formed. Hmm. How true is that of life? That goes to say what we're talking about with the law of attraction. If you don't put yourself in the state of believing, in the state of feeling, what you end up doing is you literally just start to retract back to where you were. So he said, well, then how do you fix it, right? What is the workaround? How do you make it so that the dough is workable and that you can make this pie and it come out the same way, where, you know, it doesn't have all these weird edges and this deformed shape, but it adds a nice circle to it, and you're getting the crust, the crunch of life, so to speak. You have to leave it at room temperature, and you have to wait for the dough to settle to room temperature. But here's the caveat, right? If you don't use the dough, it has to be thrown away. You can't throw it back in the refrigerator and then bring it back out. It's garbage. So isn't that how true is that of life when you are in the environment, when you immerse yourself in whatever it is that you want, right? This is what we're talking about, the law of attraction. Getting familiar with the emotions of the thing that you want. Now all of a sudden, it takes action. Now you have to spread the dough because you're in the temperature. You're at that thermometer, that setting that's aligned with the thing that you want, right? Living with Europe. Oh, my God. Yes. You're feeling the emotion, and now you're ready to take action. But if you don't take action, what happens? You have to throw it away. And it's not to say that you have to give up on the dream, but you start retracting. It's almost the equivalent of being back in that refrigerator. All of a sudden, the dough shrinks back. And we could use the analogy of being thrown out, because now you have to look for that next inspiration, right? You have to put yourself in that zone of feeling, that mode of feeling the very thing that you want. And if you don't do it consciously, good luck doing it. You have to make sure that you're setting yourself up for victory. You're setting yourself up to win. So let's recap again, so like the pizza, right? When you prep the dough, you have to put it in an environment that it is aligned or in tune with so that you get the right pizza. Similarly to the decision you have to make the action you want to take, right? You have to align with doing it. You have to align with the thing that you want. And when you align with that, all of a sudden, now the action becomes easier, the action becomes bigger, the action becomes one that will get you to the desired outcome versus if you were to start it right out of the refrigerator. You take a small action, but you're going to retract back. The dough is going to shrink back to its original form, and you're taking another action. It's going to expand, but then it's going to retract right back to it. So the answer to this question, action versus law of Attraction, it's not one that's so straightforward. Because sometimes, just by taking an action, even if it's the wrong action, it'll give you some momentum, it'll give you a new way of looking at things. But if you really want to have an impact, if you really want to take that thrust forward where it's like one giant step forward and then another, instead of one step forward, one step back, one step forward, two steps back, two steps forward, one step back, and literally be channeling back and forth between these, these two. These, these two zones, you have to feel the emotional intensity of the thing you want. You have to feel good to. Taking action from that feeling of goodness is what's gonna move you forward faster. So that is my answer to you. So then, in parting, what is, how do we put ourselves in that place of good feeling? It's like, well, how do I feel good? It's as simple as asking that, right? How do you put yourself in that feeling? If you want to start to feel good, and it doesn't necessarily sometimes even have to be about the thing that you want. Sometimes it's just about getting out and into a different place around people that you enjoy being around, the people that make you happ. And all of a sudden, new insights will come to you just because you're in a better state. So if I can leave you with one thing that I think would be of most value, it's going to be a little strategy that you can take, and we're going to write this down right now. A little strategy that you can take just to start feeling good. So these are the questions for you. We're not even talking about law of Attraction versus Action. On a piece of paper, write down five things. What are five things that instantly change your state that make you feel good just by thinking of them or engaging them? It could be a person that you talk to, right? Someone that stirs that passion. Maybe it's someone you met on a trip. It could be watching a certain thing. Like I love anime. It's no, I'm watching. I'm living. I can't even speak. I'm wearing this piece One Shirt. One Piece shirt right now. I'm a big manga fan and one of the reasons why I love One Piece is because it's about this pirate who travels the world having inventors. It has nothing to do with me, right? Has everything to do, right. That's why I like it. But when I watch it, it immediately puts me in an empowered state. So it could be anything. It could be a book that you read. Because by reading the book, you're literally your mind is stopping those thinking patterns. Now it's focusing on the word. You're reading it and it's all this thing and it's putting you in a better state. Anything. Name five things and write them down. Next, what is one thing you can do right now to just put yourself in a state of feeling better? Sometimes it's going to be literally picking up one of those things that we just listed. And other times it's going to be moving your body, right? Because when you're stagnant, if you've been sitting at your desk the entire time, like your body has all this energy it needs to release. Go move. Go exercise. Go move your body in some way and I promise you when you come back, you will feel a lot better. Then focus on one of the five. And then lastly, when you feel like you're in that peak state, let's start to put our focus on the desires. What are the things you wanted for your health, your relationships, your emotional life? Let's start to think of those things from the state of feeling good. And then lastly, what are the things that you can actions you can take to start doing that? That is all I've got for you guys today. Hope you enjoyed this rant, but it makes a lot of sense. More than anything, take some kind of action. But more importantly, feel good, right? Don't wait to feel good. Because by feeling good in this moment, you open the door for new things to come. That is all I've got for you guys today. Hope you enjoyed this post. Remember this if you live the right. I can't remember the quote. Let me think of that. You only get one life, but if you live it right, one life is enough. Something like that. I can't remember who said that, but in essence you only get one life. Live it. God bless. Thank you again and I will see you again soon.
